Nice video, I had trouble programing my AC6000 sound decoder. Had to turn down the horn volume, after awhile with it at max 15 it gave me a headache. lol
Man... I'm drooling for that Big Boy. You see, I'm only 15 years old, but I have a passion for train modelling and trains in general. That's a bit strange considering there are no railways and trains here in Malta. But it's so expensive! I have to wait until I'm much older, and I have a job and I can actually afford this hobby. I love the huge 40's steam engines, and the 4-6-6-4 Challenger is my favourite. Of course, the Big Boy is awesome. I can't WAIT until I'm older =[
my friend has one of those challengers in ho,o,and i think G .I just have a burlington northen diesel, a union pacific switcher diesel, and a 4-8-4 northern, non have sound, and the 4-8-4 has steam
Im 16 years old (well in a month ill be 16) and i have a quite large layout, i don't have a job yet, but i use money from my birthday and Christmas to buy track, locos, and cars. I love my trains, but their at my dads in michigan and he doesnt have money to send them, so im stuck with Trainz 2004, MSTS, and Rail Simulator
i supose that only the AC600 400US, is the normal price bcuse of the sound, and for the big boy other 400, the layout dpenes on if its digital or classica
Man it would be cool if the AC6000' Were pulling A Bunch Of Tanks & Covered Hopper's and like 8 Centerbeam Flats.Just like the trains I saw When I was Little.
Quantum have another nice effect. I wish I could demonstrate it for you. But I have my benchwork started, alas not enough track to show you what I mean. On DCC you can actually increase the notch the engine is running in without increasing the speed. In this video, both the BiG Boy and AC lifted their loads effortlessly. ..........
However once you crack the throttle and start the train moving, very slowly, you notch up the engine using F5 (I think ? and lower it using F6) and the speed stays the same, however the AC starts to scream just as a full size one would! then you slowly advance the throttle to apply speed :o)) You will love the effect and it will enhance your videos. Give it a try. If you run DC, you need one of the DC sound controllers. Cheers
The only problem I've had is something that seems to just be a problem with the BlueLine decoders. The sound system occasionally mutes in the reverse direction, but other than that, they run fine. Just need a little breaking in at first.
@Rachmaninov08, are they going mute when going over turnouts? If they are live frog turnouts, I had to install switches to power them. Once I install my switch motors, they have automatic provisions for that.
Beautiful locos!! To answer a previous question, the GE AC6000s in #601 & #602 are dc. I just got BLI blueline SP # 602 several months back (with the DC Master for user activated sounds) and it's gorgeous! The SPs with no # lettering are dc/dcc I believe. I have to ask though, does your unit 'stairstep' in engine revs if current level becomes 'confused' regarding the rev sounds!? Mine does but I think they all do that from the factory. Thank you kindly!
@Rachmaninov08 35" is needed in any scale in you have a large locomotive never use 18" or 28" it you have the fallowing locomotives AC 6000,DD40X,Big boy,Challenger,484,and all GE locomotives modeled after 1988. the curves are to sharp and thy only work for switchers.
No need to put proto cars after a fantasy paint. SP didn't receive any AC6000's. I also had one and it is a beautiful loco. Great sound on the vid also.

What radius curves were your locomotives negotiating? Are you using Bachman EZ track?

In this video its 28'' Bachman EZ track, but I just recently got some 35.5'' curves, and it looks a bit better.
