@ericynot Theres plenty better than the Stones. I think Mick Keith etc rely on the fact that they have become an institution. Their playing sounds sloppy and under rehearsed. I've seen them 3 times, the first time in Hyde Park 1969 and they were fantastic, but to be honest I wouldnt pay the price of a ticket to see them now. Love their studio albums but as for live, no, I'll, spend my money on something else.

@sail1948 You're probably right. But, having been a fan since the early '60's, I set aside some of my normally critical nature in the face of their amazing catalog. I mean, "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Gimme Shelter" still kick my ass almost as much today as it did when I was a freshman in college And, sloppy though they may be, they still generate a level of energy I find, as a now old guy, sort of inspriring :) For sure we can agree on their studio output.

@ericynot Yeah Sticky fingers, High Tide and Green Grass, great albums. Who would I pay to see today? If you want to hear a band of 60 something rockers I've seen a few times have a look on youtube at a band called Status Quo in particular a track called the "Power of rock and roll", they blew me away when I first heard them back in the 60's, I dont think they made it in the states. Another English band "Oasis" I liked although they've just broken up. Dave Edmunds, Led Zep, the list is endless.

Why's it sound bad? My guess is that it's late in the concert, everybody's a little stoned and Mick's tired, the stage monitors aren't working right, and that fan onstage at 0:25 caused Mick to panic! Couldn't remember his words. He pulled Ronnie out of harm's way.

Fans don't realize how hard it is to keep the controls on such a huge production while it's rolling full speed ahead. That sound system alone sucks as much power as a small city.
