The good ole days - when there weren't idiots who felt compelled to "tag" (vandalize). So used to it now that it's shocking to see there is no graffiti on the cars.
That bridge is so iconic to my childhood memory. I use to live in Woodbridge and I would associate that bridge to the name of the place...I thought it was Woodbridge's "bridge" even though it's steel.
So your occupation is "video editor" huh? That's what I'm at George Mason studying to do for a living!
CSX still runs the juice train today. Of course, their is no longer a caboose. Check the March 7, 2007 issue of VRE Update for a history of the juice trains. It's posted on VRE's website at vre org
Acording to Doug Riddel, Engineer, AMTK, those reefer cars of 'Florida Gold' handle just like tank cars, and slosh teribly, even causing separation. THANKS AGAIN for the trip in the way back machine!!
That ought to tell you how long the juice train has been running. Was there another carrier before the RF&P who ran the juice train? Or was it the same carrier?
I think the Seaboard took it from Florida to Richmond, Va. Then the RF&P took over all the way to Baltimore. Then Conrail took over all the way to NEW York, NY, I think?
Yeah, pretty much, except for the part where the RF&P takes it to B-more and CR taking it to NY. The Seaboard takes it from Bradenton, FL to Richmond, VA, where the RF&P takes it from there to Washington D.C., and then Conrail takes it from there to Kearny, NJ.
I always know I'm close to DC when the train crosses that bridge. If your on the optimal side you can look over and see US 1 and I-95.
I also know I'm leaving the south.

Also how sweet to see a train without the massive trash of 21st century graffitti!

Ah, the old days when trains still had cabooses. I don't think they look right without them.

the "juice train" trumped everything except passenger service-- the southern trains would be delayed sometimes an hour or more
