Spectacular video of a spectacular sport! This is why Japan will always be better than America: they keep their culture alive, whereas Americans will drop bits and pieces of their culture the very second it becomes inconvenient.
I would die to actually get to watch this in person.
nice footage! is that Takeda Ryu yabusame? i've only seen it at Hachimangu and Aburatsubo. Are you doing Kyudo in Tokyo? And the three times i've seen it i've never seen a female kyudoka.
I believe there were a couple of different schools of yabusame represented at this event. At least some of the archers were definitely from the Ogasawara Ryu according to the announcements that were going on through the demonstration.
Our group practices Kyudo in Vancouver, Canada. 4 of us were in Tokyo in April for the first International Kyudo Federation International Seminar at the Chuo Dojo at Meiji Jingu shrine.
totally understand... we went way out of our way to go to this yabusame in asakusa. it generally only happens once a year, so we were quite lucky to get to see it!
3:50 don't forget me.. i'm a cute horse ^^

cool stuff! I was there and this year as well. I've been to the asakusa yabusame event half-a-dozen times.
Check out my latest vid which has some scenes from this year and last year's event. You'll see some of the same archers seen here.

do you guys know of any yabusame in japan in late November?

Sorry... can't say we do. We don't live in Japan, so we found out about this one through the internet before a trip there.

Great video!
It is my first time to see that I hit the target on video. And also it was the first time that I could hit the target just in front of my mother.
I will practice more and more to hit all targets next year. Thank you so much for the great video!!

I ALWAYS wanted to go to a yabusame event because of how much awesomeness is congregated in ONE place!
