One of my all time favourites of British Light Classical music. We lead the world in this field, for which it is almost unique to us. There are many great compilation Cd's availble for this genre'. i have at least a dozen. So if this is your idea of music--go check them out---you'll be surprised how many you recognise.
I have listened to it 10 times since my last comment.......this music moves something inside, i dont know why. I find it extremely moving inside. Ronald Binge seems to be a great componist.
@jettscream thanks for watching glad you liked it and the film you mention was a classic for me set in Scotland but i can't seem to put them together in my mind i will have to watch again if it ever comes on --trich .
@jettscream - it might have been Ring of Bright Water - but I remember this piece being used as the theme to a lovely TV adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. Would have been some time in the 1970s. If I recall correctly, it wasn't an animation, but used still illustrations. I loved it.
Thanks for putting this on. I adored the secret garden series when I was a kid and this music is so nostalgic. Do you remember Tom's Midnight Garden - I could have wept when he couldn't get back to Hattie.
This is lovely. Been listening to 'Sailing By' - one of my favourites and then I clicked on this one. So restful - we could all do with a little bit of peace like this now and again ! Lovely vid.
I've heard this piece twice in the last fortnight - it featured on Countryfile (BBC) a couple of weeks ago and it's just been on a Melvyn Bragg programme on ITV :)
It was definitely used for 'The Secret Garden' in 1975. I don't remember 'Treasure Over The Water' so well (I think it was broadcast several years earlier, about 1972) but I'm pretty sure the BBC didn't use Binge's music for that one.
A beautiful piece! It was like looking at a beautiful old Dutch landscape painting in motion with a gorgeous song in your head. Made for a great start of my day! Thanks!
Thanks for your comment this is one of my slowest moving video's and you are right it is a great piece of music , well there are at least three of us who like it .
A wonderfully moving piece, where was the video taken,or is it a repeated still picture?

Wow, what a most beautiful music. I have fallen in love with it....!!

Apparently this was also used for 'The Secret Garden' series in the 70s. It's so lovely you could use it for any series and it would be perfect.

An all time favorite, if you are old enough you will remember it came from the BBC's programme, Tales by the River Bank for children.

yeah i am old enough all right but do you know i can't remember it from there hey perhaps i am that old my memory has started to fade -trichoone .
trichoone 4 years ago
I don't remember it being in Tales from the River Bank. It was certainly used in the BBC's mid-1970s version of The Secret Garden.
robhardy 3 years ago
Was it 'The Secret Garden' or 'Treasure Over the Water' (dramatisation of 'Minnow on the Say')?
One of Phillipa Pierce's books, anyway.

You're probably right, Rob. My memory (not to mention the rest of me!) is not what it was.
There was a classical piece used in 'Treasure...' though, and was 20th century English pastoral in style. Perhaps something by Vaughan Williams?
