  • A wonderfully moving piece, where was the video taken,or is it a repeated still picture?

  • One of my all time favourites of British Light Classical music. We lead the world in this field, for which it is almost unique to us. There are many great compilation Cd's availble for this genre'. i have at least a dozen. So if this is your idea of music--go check them out---you'll be surprised how many you recognise.

  • wind in the willows theme 1970 itv

  • So lightly classically !

  • Zuschauen Entspannen Nachdenken

  • I have listened to it 10 times since my last comment.......this music moves something inside, i dont know why. I find it extremely moving inside. Ronald Binge seems to be a great componist.

  • Wow, what a most beautiful music. I have fallen in love with it....!!

  • Apparently this was also used for 'The Secret Garden' series in the 70s. It's so lovely you could use it for any series and it would be perfect.

  • Thanks for making it possible to escape from my cares for 4 minutes!

  • Thats it, wind in the willows, you have an exceptional memory and consideration for emotive music, thank you, Jett Norfolk.

  • A wonderful piece of music-brings pictures of warm dreamy summer days in the country. First heard as the theme to the 'secret garden'

  • What an emotional piece what pleasant comments, a pleasure to read and listen. was this not used in ring of bright water? thank you G

  • @jettscream thanks for watching glad you liked it and the film you mention was a classic for me set in Scotland but i can't seem to put them together in my mind i will have to watch again if it ever comes on --trich .

  • @jettscream - it might have been Ring of Bright Water - but I remember this piece being used as the theme to a lovely TV adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. Would have been some time in the 1970s. If I recall correctly, it wasn't an animation, but used still illustrations. I loved it.

  • lovely, i love to live nearby, is this in england countryside?

  • lovely piece of music, the video does it justice.

  • thankyou Louise .

  • How wonderful Ronald Binge is much overlooked and much missed;

    thank you for the post

  • Thanks for putting this on. I adored the secret garden series when I was a kid and this music is so nostalgic. Do you remember Tom's Midnight Garden - I could have wept when he couldn't get back to Hattie.

  • What a simply beautiful and stirring piece of music.

  • yes it is thanks for watching , its been on here a while now and seems to get overlooked - trich .

  • Well done for putting it up! This piece of music is a national treasure.

  • thankyou whooster it was a pleasure .

  • Beauitful....

    Thanks.

  • I always associate this tune with an old TV adaptation of The Wind in the Willows.

  • brilliant :)

  • Absolutely divine!...music that transports one to ethereal bliss! Can never have too much of the same!

  • hearing this made me cry. i played this as oboe solo years ago.

  • Same here, i didn't know this was the same Composer...how beautiful...

I cliked on Sailing by and then i found this, they are both simply beautiful ....

Did they use this for the TV version years ago ?

    Thank you once again.

    Dot.

  • Gorgeous.

  • thankyou i dont get many comments for this one .

  • I love this piece of music and the picture. Thank you for posting it!

  • Great. You should do some more classical stuff.

  • thanks i have done a few more on here and i will look to adding some more thanks again - trichoone

  • This is lovely. Been listening to 'Sailing By' - one of my favourites and then I clicked on this one. So restful - we could all do with a little bit of peace like this now and again ! Lovely vid.

  • thankyou , i wouldn't mind being sat there on a nice sunny day , as you say perfect peace .

  • I've heard this piece twice in the last fortnight - it featured on Countryfile (BBC) a couple of weeks ago and it's just been on a Melvyn Bragg programme on ITV :)

  • yes I also saw the countryfile one , thanks for your comment .

  • An all time favorite, if you are old enough you will remember it came from the BBC's programme, Tales by the River Bank for children.

  • yeah i am old enough all right but do you know i can't remember it from there hey perhaps i am that old my memory has started to fade -trichoone .

  • I don't remember it being in Tales from the River Bank. It was certainly used in the BBC's mid-1970s version of The Secret Garden.

  • Was it 'The Secret Garden' or 'Treasure Over the Water' (dramatisation of 'Minnow on the Say')?

One of Phillipa Pierce's books, anyway.

  • It was definitely used for 'The Secret Garden' in 1975. I don't remember 'Treasure Over The Water' so well (I think it was broadcast several years earlier, about 1972) but I'm pretty sure the BBC didn't use Binge's music for that one.

  • You're probably right, Rob. My memory (not to mention the rest of me!) is not what it was.

There was a classical piece used in 'Treasure...' though, and was 20th century English pastoral in style. Perhaps something by Vaughan Williams?

  • A beautiful piece! It was like looking at a beautiful old Dutch landscape painting in motion with a gorgeous song in your head. Made for a great start of my day! Thanks!

  • you are welcome glad you liked it .

  • nice

  • It is a very beautiful piece of music and its been on here over a year but look at the number of views .

  • i like it too, never heard it before.

  • Ahhhhh that's better :-)

  • thanks for your comment this i feel is a nice piece of music which has been on here a year now with little interest , glad you like it .

  • you are very welcome , that sounds beautiful .

  • A great piece. One of the best oboe solo pieces there is - haunting & lyrical.

  • Thanks for your comment this is one of my slowest moving video's and you are right it is a great piece of music , well there are at least three of us who like it .

  • That where I want to live.

  • nice place isn't it this vid dosen't get noticed very often and a nice piece of music i feel .
