What a fantastic tutorial!!! You're the first person who's ever been able to explain all of this to me in such a concise yet un-condescending manner...Thanks!
Wow, I had no idea my £10 easy share did anything more than standard point and shoot, I was going to buy an slr to do this stuff. Cheers mate, great video!
I can't send an email because i don't know how to so i just posted a comment.
So for the avature, can i use the SAMSUNG ST1000 for the open avature like a 2.8 if there is. But wait is there even a TV and AV in SAMSUNG ST1000 ???
Learning by watching is so infinitely much better for us creative types. Whoever thinks we all just sit around reading manuals all night (I have enough to make fires all winter).....is really a Nerd !! They should just make learning DVD's with everything for us non-nerdnicks
can anyone tell me the name and version of some high quality camera that does both still photos and videos! and the photos and videos can directly be tranfered to computer!
also please tell me can external lenses be attatched to these cameras
what are the cameras called that perform both functions!
type 370157830255 in the ebay search box for the new, revolutionary, compact, cutting edge 9 in 1 youtube camcorder. a must own for all youtubers! it has many bids on it already. dont let it get away. take a look at my profile and video presentation about this amazing technological revolution. come take a look, you'll be glad you did!
I agree the wheel is easier to use for adjustment, i got cannon power shot but drop it and broke it. Now i got Nikon coolpix and i did'nt enjoy using it because it takes time to adjust with its button system!
The explanation is an additional info to make better pictures... thank you!
Logan's is pretty cool guy, eh uses cameras and doesn't afraid of anything.
No, seriously, this is a very helpful tutorial for beginners when it comes to photography. Not only do they learn the rather universal modes of a compact camera, but they learn the meanings of fundamental photographic terms, like aperture, shutter speed and ISO. :)
I actually make money by uploading my photos to the internet! I can't believe it! I love it! I Have made over $1500 Dollars so far in two weeks with my digital camera! And i definitely can't wait to see what a month is going to be like! If your interested look in my profile on the left for the link!
Eureka!!! Finally somebody have simplified those creeptic terminologies in photography. I never had any idea how simple simple ISO, aperture and shutter speed could be. I read the manual now a few times but it's only now after hearing it from this video that I was able to figure out how they work and affect my photos. Many thanks!!!
dude, im glad my dad sent me this video thru AOL. i tend to goof around w/ the color settings on my camera and take pics of stuff w/ diff color sett. sadly, i have to go thru a menu on my Nikon. lol
YO EVRY1, CHECK OUT THIS HECK OF COOL LCD TV!! !!IT'S WAY BETTER THAN THIS TV HERE-!! JUST TYPE IN- YuTubeMedia - IN THE SEARCH BOX, AND IT'LL COME UP. AFTER SEEING IT, I WANTED TO GET IT TOO. IT'S LIKE THE NEWEST BEST LCD TV MODEL OUT RIGHT NOW, JUST PUNCH IN- YuTubeMedia - IN THE SEARCH BOX. THIS WICKED TV HAS GOT SOME REALLY COOL HIGH TECH FEATURES LIKE UPDATING IT WITH THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGY, CHECK IT OUT, YOU'LL PROBABLY WANT ONE Too After SEEING THIS LCD..
Yes, the higher the aperture, the lower the depth of field (the more blurred the background will be). The high aperture is associated with lower f-stops. I know, it's confusing. I'm learning a little bit of the TECHNICAL side of photography, too. =P
Great video! Very informative. Same here, I have never used any of those settings. I never knew what ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture are. Now since I ordered Olympus E-510 and getting it today, I started to read on this stuff. Nice video again, as always by tigerdirect. Thanks!
This is really helpfull. I have a cannon and have never used anything on my "Wheel" but the video and automatic. Now I might can get out and do some experimenting.
how do u balance between shutter speed and the lighting.. for example, when he was taking the picture of the waterfall with a fast shutter speed, wouldn't it be too dark??
When you set the shutter speed, you need to compensate the aperture; it will need to be set at the proper f-stop so the proper exposure is there. Also when you set the ISO to a different ISO setting the shutter speed and aperture (F Stop) will be different to compensate for proper exposure. If you have a DSLR, the exposure meter is in the view finder, just adjust till it is in the middle.
I use both... sometimes you can't carry around a massive camera... so it's good to know how to get good pics out of a compact camera. I use the DSLR 90% of the time though... watch for my video on them soon.
Very Informative

I wish there were more with Logan giving sort of Tutorials like this...
Are there?
By the way, I mean on anything kind of technically complicated like this.
But especially for digital photography. :)
I still can't figure out some things, even by reading the manual 100 times.
I'm tired of it... literally...
I've been reading booklets and PDFs for hours, but some things are just NOT clear.
