@kimkicksyourbutt i know im so heated now.... like everybody just starts laughing when there ppl in my hood and cities everywhere killing eachother over some stupid nonsense.... legalize it all man!!!! thats why im voting 4 ron paul.... what u think about ron?
Obama making a joke and moving on with his script. Classic debating skills there. Is it any wonder the youth question this 'conventional wisdom'??... Pfffft, keep drinking beer & watching television you morons. Make way for the enlightened ones. There is no place for fear in the future ;-)
The 1st thing in the Bill Of Rights should be that consenting adults have the right to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else's rights.
Thinking something is immoral or perverted is no basis for punishment. Arrogant ignorant jerks just can't handle anyone doing anything sexual that they disapprove of so they lash out any way they can.
I think that everyone better watch the movie 'Zeitgeist moving forward' here on youtube. It's a 2 hours and 40 minutes documentary movie that tells what's causing to human problems all over the planet, and it suggests a really good solution. Just type the name of the movie in the search bar and you'll get it.
you supporters of legalization and taxation of prostitution in america DO REALIZE that it would mean the american government would be prostituting it's enthusiastic and willing citizens for TAX money.
i agree: MAKE THEM PAY to sit around and suck dick all day.
@Belicose777 Dude were not sliding back like the romans man get outta here. Video games quench our thirst for blood haha. and herb isn't half as bad as all those other things. and it is not for you to to judge my sin, my sin is between me and my God Jesus Christ The lion of Judah. my rights are my rights. Man herb be the healing of the nation, one love.
Why is everyone laughing at the notion of conventional wisdom? Have the so-called educators of this world really fallen that far? Teachers aren't just supposed to teach from a textbook, they are supposed to challenge, debate and open the minds of young ones to this world.
I am not sure why this was a laughing matter. How is it funny to take away someone's freedom because they made a bet, had sex with someone for money, or smoked some marijuana or tried some MDMA? Sure they may not be moral activities in the eyes of most, but it isn't the government's job to impose morals. It is their job to protect our freedom. How can we be considered a free country when we aren't even allowed to smoke a joint?
Lets laugh at this, the fat women in the audience laugh with him, while the man had a very valid point - save this country money by not incarcerating people for non violent crimes.
@daileydevotion if you want to have a debate about whether the nation was founded as "one nation under god" you will not win because your belief is not one of fact. It also sounds like you believe the government should cultivate virtue among its citizens. If i'm incorect in that assumption than please let me know
Since when has having sex ever been equivalent to murder or larsony. Let me think, oh yeah, the dark ages and puritan society. And those were such great times. Furthermore this nation was not founded as one under god. Please get that through you're head
to offend anyone, though it might seem that he kind of did. I'm sure that he didn't mean to disregard the student's suggestion, but not seem to comfy with idea or it would later bite him in the behind.
Can't you all get how tough of a position he's in. If he agrees that it would stimulate the economy, his opponents would claim that he's backing and endorsing drugs, facilitating it for people to get drugs. He already has enough haters from the second he took office, does he really need anymore? He's a great person, but still a politician. Backing illegal drugs is no good for his political side. I'm sure his laughing off the situation is just to quell off the awkward moment. He just doesn't want
I think it's ridiculous that as soon as he asked about legalizing prostitution the crowd bursts into laughter. The only things I really agree with legalizing is prostitution, cannabis, and gambling. These people that we call our "leaders" need to get their heads out of their asses and see what is really happening. Cannabis, or marijuana, could be making us billions but companies demonize it just like sillymonkey829 said.
Marijuana has become demonized by the pharmaceutical companies, textile companies, and food industry because they can make more money off of less useful, more dangerous, and more intensive crops. This is starting to change. The government could make billions off of pot and hemp. Prostitution should be a choice of the individual and a much less violent business. Abduction and sale of human beings by pimps should never be a part of it. And if you want to waste your money on gambling go ahead.
I think the reason he laughed it off is because he couldn't possibly answer it seriously. Regardless of his answer there would be so much backlash and ridicule.
Conventional wisdom my bungus! More like conventional...gosh, there isn't even a single word that describes the various ways the prohibition of (marijuana specifically) drugs has negatively afflicted us. One way or another it will all be over soon! Either we will go broke, and become financially incapable of interfering with people's drug choices, or we will pro-actively legalize them, and get the recovery rolling before the financial collapse gives us no choice in the matter.
Both the act of selling and buying sex should remain illegal, anyone who's opposed to that is just a selfish idiot and shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.
@Ichliebemusikundybd Perhaps people should be required to take an intelligence test before they breed, the world is overpopulated and from my observations it's people with low intellect that have the largest families, hm. Yes less porn and breeding, and the world would be a better place.
@Ichliebemusikundybd Actually we need more porn. Porn leads to masturbation. Masturbation relieves sexual tension and lessens arousal. People with higher thresholds for sexual arousal make less compulsive sexual decisions (ie have LESS SEX!). Less sex, fewer children...It ain't rocket science, but it is true!
@Ichliebemusikundybd Actually studies have shown that in societies where prostitution is legal, there are fewer instances of 'accidental pregnancies", couples tend to have richer sex lives, and instances of rape drop to virtually zero...Hmmm sounds good to me!
Man, people wonder why the prisons are so fucking packed here, it's because of all the retarded shit that's legalized, and illegalized.
They say Marijauna kills you and that's why it is illegal, but so does Rat Poisson and cigarettes, and those are made by US, yet weed is from the earth, and does like 100% less damage and is illegal, and people are thrown in jail for doing it..
i bet if they talked about making alchol ilegal they would be serious!! obama wants to win the next elections he should do it and hes going to win for suree!!!
people murder and rape and rob people too but its still ilegal I guess mabie we should think about that too, mabie legalize certian murder, rape and theft cases. WHAT ARE WE THINKING, THIS SHOWS JESUS IS COMMING VERY SOON, TURN REPENT AND ASK HIM INTO YOUR LIFE NOW.
That was somewhat rude of everyone including the president to laugh it off. The time for legalization of gambling pot and prostitution is here. Keeping it illegal is what contributes to the crime. And I have done my homework on this. Wrote a term paper on why prostitution should be legal
@mikese93 Obama was treating the Marijuana issue like this since he got elected. While he was running for office, he spoke positively about the decriminalization of pot. As soon as he got elected, (despite the fact that at his first 2 virtual town-halls, whether or not he would legalize it was the #1 question) he said that those who were concerned about it were a bunch of "Internet shut-ins"!!! Quit trying to give him a pass that (in the minds of most Americans) he has not earned!
@Ozlanthos ozthanos, i will not insult you, but stop criticizing obama. do you seriously believe obama would be able to get prostitution and marijuana legal? it seems like it's hard enough for him to get those old crackpots to give healthcare to everyone. can you imagine the criticism he would face if he even SPOKE about legalizing prostitution? that's just giving the conservatives or whatever those assholes are called heavy artillery. so what he avoids the call budget a little, HE HAS TO!!
@mikese93 First of all...I AM ONE OF THOSE "CRACK-POTS" WHO DIDN'T AND STILL DON'T WANT OBAMACARE! Second, as long as there is a 1st Amendment, I'll say whatever I want about Obama. Given the choice between watching him try to bail the water out of the Titanic with a paper-cup, or seeing the savings from the forfeit of the "drug war", and the profits from drug and Prostitution taxes get this country back in the black, I am sure even the staunchest conservative, would prefer the later!
@Ozlanthos and one more thing, there may be a 1st amendment in the U.S., but the U.S. don't make the ultimate rules. Heaven, makes the ultimate rules. and speaking out against that which stands for freedom and goodwill is ultimately a stupid thing to do in Our book.
@mikese93 Um, I'm just going to leave this conversation here. You've obviously drank deeply of the kool-aid, and nothing I say will convince you that Obama is anything less than god's golden turd, dropped upon the earth to stinkify the rich and make mediocre the lives of the poor. .As for "YOUR" book, I am an ATHEIST and do not share your beliefs! Before I go, there is plenty of evidence that Obama is in fact a MUSLIM and hates you and your book! Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it!
@Ozlanthos muslim, christian, zoroastrianist, as long as you truly believe in God, me and Him support you.now I'm not suprised you're an atheist, with your disgusting shameless racism. and I'm not black, either. my race is Unto God. ignorant ass. you'll see the true stupidity of your ways, when faced with the fire, when you realize there is no way out, when you realize We will have no mercy on you, you will see your great eternal folly.Until then, I bid you-fear God. AND His angels.
@mikese93 I would really love for you to point out in this line of conversation anything I have said that displays a scintilla of "racism". I don't care that Obama is black. He could be the whitiest whitey on the face of the planet, and I'd still think that his policy of forcing people to buy health insurance at the threat of fines and/or imprisonment was an overtly-oppressive non-AMERICAN policy!!!
@Ozlanthos "You've obviously drank deeply of the kool-aid" there's your scintilla, whitey. and if you weren't a piece of shit racist who thought blacks were subhuman and deserved shit for lives, you wouldn't be arguing with obama. so go fuck yourself. how's that for a divine message
@mikese93 Wha? I don't like Obama's policies, I never thought he should have even been considered as a candidate given his lack of experience in private industry, or any clear evidence of "leadership" qualities. How does that make me a racist? And what about my Kool-aid comment is racist? If you knew anything about history, you would have understood the comment to be a reference to the followers of Jim Jones drinking cyanide-laced Kool-aid just because he told them to!
@Ozlanthos ozlanthos, jim jones is not history, jim jones, is a moron who got a bunch of people killed a few decades ago or whenever it was. history. HISTORY, is something that shaped the world humans have today. ww2, was history. slavery, was history. the rise of the ottoman empire, was history. and I know more about HISTORY, than you ever will. but I'll give you benefit of the doubt with the kool-aid, as I thought you were making a reference to black people and their drinking kool-aid.
@mikese93 So if it didn't specifically involve racism, or black people it isn't "history"? I guess making it to the moon wasn't history either then. I know more about history than you'd ever give me credit for. And honestly, if you knew as much about our history as I do, you'd probably be an atheist too! As to the Kool-aid, your rush to judgment there reveals to me that you are a bigger racist than I could ever be, as that stereotype never even occurred to me until you pointed it out.
@Ozlanthos what did ww2 and the ottoman empire have to do with racism against black people specifically? I just happened to pick slavery because it was the biggest event that had an influence on the u.s., which is the topic of this video in case you didn't notice. just so you know, the most important thing I listed was the rise of the ottoman empire-the other two pale in comparison, frankly because they only mattered for dogged, ignorant, moronic 21st century shit-for-brains, (e.g., YOU)
@Ozlanthos and human history means nothing to me-human history consists of this: ape makes tools. ape gets "smart". ape hunts ungulate. ape gets mobile. ape grows plants. ape learns trade. ape notices God. ape ignores God. God gets apes attention. ape still ignores God. ape tortures and kills animals and each other. God gets mad. ape still ignores God. ape gets technology. ape forgets God exists. ape creates monstrosity civilization. ape spit's in God's face. ape gets full of itself. God, mad.
@mikese93 its people like you that make this world a bad place to live in. why dont you just respect what other people believe in and worry about yourself. no one wants to hear you make an ass out of yourself
@monkeyguts560 no, it's people like those assholes who begrudge black people's rights to health care because they're "stupid monkeys who don't deserve to walk on the same planet". in case you didn't notice, its atheists like joseph stalin who turned russia into a morally perverted monstrosity, and christians like obama and martin luther king and jesus christ who spent their lives trying to make this world a better place. it's BELIEVERS down there in haiti helping out. so cut the bullshit
@mikese93 Using Joseph Stalin as the figurehead of atheistic beliefs is ludicrous and undermines the very point you are trying to make. Lenin, Stalin and every other communist that came after simply supplanted one ideology with another. Ideology is what prevents us from approaching issues with a level head. When compulsive faith in "conventional wisdom" in spite of mountains of research-based evidence to the contrary prevents a reasonable debate democracy is broken.
@dashtothefuture forget joseph stalin the point I was trying to make was that atheists are just as bad as religious people as a whole. so it wasn't undermining it, it just wasn't a prime example.
@Ozlanthos however even if you're not a racist you're still an atheist which makes you a liar whom I don't believe anything you say. so your words mean nothing...I simply tell the truth in saying you'll pay.
@Ozlanthos obama's a man on a mission, goddammit. and he's on God's side. trust me, I know, I'm a ride-hard, die-hard, day one-to-the-end Servant of The Lord. if obama lies, than he's no different from any other politician, republican or democrat. but at least he lies with the intention to help people rather than oppress.
@mikese93 And just what "mission" would that be? Frankly, forcing Americans to pay for something they didn't ask for, didn't want, and threatening them with jail-time if they don't buy it sounds pretty "oppressive" to me!
@Ozlanthos the mission to restore hope and integrity, to the world. AND HE'S STARTING WITH THE U.S.!!!! what possible motive could obama have for oppressing rich people? there is none. there's no point wounding something you cannot kill. every minority knows this. republicans and friends oppress the poor and friends, because they want control. and they have control. we do not have control. Obama's goal is to free oppressed people from the crackpots. and you guys, hate that-so you make stuff up.
@legatoslide47 Why should prostituion be legal that part I dont understand can you give me your opinion. Marijuana I Can understand because it will calm several people down.
1. The government has no right to police personal morality.
2. Enforcement of anti-prostitution laws are very costly and have no effect upon the spread of prostitution.
3. Legalization would bring it out into the open where prostitutes would face less risks and crime associated with it would drop due to stricter regulations.
@legatoslide47 I agree with you my friend! Not only that, but this also reduces social stigmas, & will undoubtedly improve sense of self worth, and community. The government has as much right to tell us what to put into our bodies, as they do with what to put into our minds.... NO RIGHT AT ALL.
@bane349 Damn Straight. It is unfortunate however that a majority of Americans do not actually agree with this principle and our politicians certainly don't agree with it
@legatoslide47 as you said it may continue to "contribute" to crime bt it does serve as a deterrent. Legalizing it will only encourage it. Conserving morality is important. Trust me it'll benefit many of us in the long run.
@Belicose777 If you have a problem with paying for sex then you have a right not to engage in that practice. However, I should have a right to engage in that pratice. The government has no business to police personal morality. You cannot put your personal sexual morality above mine. Furthermore what constitutes morality? Paying for sex is neither moral nor immoral. It does not need to be given one of those labels. Exchange of goods and services happens everyday. Paying for sex is no different
@legatoslide47 Sex is much more then just "goods." I know you probably dont wanna hear about the bible but it describes the very nature of morality. Morality isnt what you see fit in your own eyes. If that were the case what Hitler did with killing millions of Jew to perserve Gene pools he saw moral too.
@Belicose777 No it absolutely will NOT! Studies have already shown us in other countries, where drugs have been decriminalized there has been a marked drop in crime, and that most drug crimes are a product of the blackmarket caused by prohibition. Much of the problem we face today has to do with other people trying to tell us what is and is not moral.
NEITHER YOU, NOR THE GOVERNMENT HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT IS MORAL!!!
@Belicose777 Are you insane? If it were all legal it would be sold in the stores, and not worth anything close to what it is now, removing nearly all profit incentive. To be honest, I'm not sure if my speaking with you is not a total and complete waste of my time. ugg! People who are to lazy to hit a few keys to find out the facts on things drive me up a wall!
@Belicose777 Furthermore, I would not bother to "trust" someone who regurgitates the hypocritical non-sense of the reefer madness era. Stop being led around by the nose and do some researching yourself.
@Belicose777 Conservating morality is important, so why not criminalizing chating on your spouse/girlfriend, goldiging, going to bars, homosexuality??? we can Conservative morality, by promoting good things, NOT BY CRIMINALIZING FREEDOM. furthermore morality changes from person to person, Just because you live your life good, you can not force and punish someone else just because they don't meet your personal standards.
@Ddstairclimber Know what dude? You're right. Morality IS something that shoudlnt be forced upon anyone. It should be a personal decision to follow the fabrics that hold together a sane, ethical, conservative society. Morality varying from person to person isnt morality it then becomes personal preference. Morality has a set base. A fundemental base by which you build on not what you decide to pick out as moral because its convenient to your desires.
@Ddstairclimber I really hope you dont take offense to anything i say but it sounds somewhat hypocritical to say we can conserve morality by promoting good things bt yet you're ecouraging prostitution? do you see that as good? & maybe you were trying to emphasize that you should promote & not force morality & if that's the case then that was a respectable arguement. God bless, Hope to hear from you soon.
@Belicose777 Its not hypocritical at all, for example homosexuality, or cheating on your spousee, we can teach that its wrong, but we DONT HAVE TO CRIMINALIZE IT. let me ask you this, just because its legal to be gay does it mean I'm promoting it, or you are gonna run and get a gay boyfriend?. There are things that create more problems by trying to be outlawed. u simply cant legislate morality!. besides look and drugs and cigarrees, prohibition had the oposite effect 4 some peopl
@Ddstairclimber Not at all because homosexuality is a preference which some people find repulsive. Drugs and prostitution on the otherhand appeals to anyone with a sex drive & desire to feel pleasure. The need to legislate morals may seem unnecassary to many but in fact it's crucial to conserving humanity. We're sliding back into the age of the Roman gladiators & brutes & where pleasure was all anybdy cared about.
@Belicose777 "Conserving moralilty is important" but trying to legislate it is insane, furthermore isnt it hypocritical, you go on a date or a one night stand, pay and then bang, etc, and that is not immoral, but you pay ahead of time explicitly, and all of the sudden that's immoral. Or drinking a lot, smoking, eating unhealthy, but trying marijuana only a few times, and sudddenly one is a criminal. That is hypocresy. Prohibition creates black markets with crime. Also think of all the money
@Ddstairclimber Though legislating morality does seem "insane" i feel it's important as long as it doesnt contradict any of our rights. It does harm us. Maybe you should look into the affects of perversion on the mind. & idk exactly how you see morality bt a one night stand is just as immoral as prostitution. Sex before is considered immoral & i understand money is important & is necassary bt at what cost? Our morality, our honor for money for pleasure?
@Strangerinasland I've grown a little since my last comment here and no that was never my intention. I was just trying to voice an opinion no one cared to agree with. It's just something that wont happen. Trying to legislate morality will never work but as long as I'm alive I'll continue to promote and encourage it. That's as far as that goes in terms of making it a commonly practiced concept.
@legatoslide47 crime is part and parcel of prostitution, legalization doesnt make it go away, in fact in the Netherlands where it has been legal for 10 years now crime, sextrafficking and forced prostitution have grown, not lessened.
@vasarasx When Sweden passed a law in 1999 passing a law against paying for sex, violence against women went up and pay for prostitutes severely decreased. It varies based upon country. Yes the netherlands is one of the top human trafficking destinations mostly due to its red light district which is th emost famous in the world. However, the red light district has been less regulated in the time when trafficking went up.
@legatoslide47 I live in the Netherlands, and this week there was a debate in parliament about the high nr's of forced and sextrafficked men/women that causes every single political party, and there are 9, great concerns. Yesterday there was news from a city where sextrafficking has gone up again, not down. So, please dont tell me what you *think* is true, . The amount of violence and the quality of violence against prostitutes has worsened as well, it's worse here than in Sweden, much worse.
@vasarasx dont be fool, they have far less crime overall, than in here, and they have freedom. Think of all the money that is wasted on this. think of how stupid and hypocritical is it to arrest for something that everyone does in one way or another wich is buy/sell sex. Why not arresting goldiggers, and people who go to bars, people who cheat hteir spouses, that is as ridiculous as arresting someone for prostitution. Also don't forget that the prohibited fruit is the most desired
@Ddstairclimber I live in a country where it is legal, so I know what Im talking about, the problems that are there when it is illegal are still there when it is legal. You dont understand how legalization works, and there is still a black market, in fact it has been growing here, there are so many problems, it's up in parliament today for debate and new laws to curb crime, sextrafficking etc. Look at the facts, not what you think legalization is gonna do, it is a mess.
the thing if it is legal, there has to be some sort of regulation. there will always be a black market, but its easier to handle it since, before there wasn't any control, and the entirety of people in this industry was forced underground.
not to mention use of law enforcement on real crime, and other issues.
I lived for 17 years where it was legal, I never went there though, but at least some have a safer enviroment, and there is tax revenue.
@Ddstairclimber Netherlands, the point of an illegal market is that you by definition CANNOT regulate it, and in the legal sector there is still illegal activity. Forced prostitution has grown as has sextrafficking b/c when it is legal the demand grows, thus there is need for more women. There is more abuse of women (and men) in prostitution. Legalizing is NOT gonna make that better, in fact prost themselves have indicated their overall wellbeing is WORSE than it was when it was illegal!
@vasarasx This is the most ignorant thing I think I've ever read. When a prostitute trafficking in illegal sex is assaulted he or she cannot come forward to report it to authorities. When the market is legal or at the very least decriminalized, they can at least come forward to accuse the attacker. It is a person's right to give away or sell their body.
@etodez sextrafficking is illegal also where prostitution is illegal, so this means when a woman/girl is trafficked, she can come forward where prost is illegal, same as in a country where prostitution is legal, no difference. Btw, Im not for it being illegal to prostitutte for women, but for the buyer it should be illegal. In my country, women fear to come forward when theyve been trafficked or forced into prost, thats also why its so hard to prosecute the traffickers, think before you post!
@Ddstairclimber also, the solution I prefer is to make pimping illegal again, as it are the pimps that get free way to force women into prostitition and sextrafficking now it is legal and are harder to prosecute now, you need more evidence against them when it is legal plus the victims still fear coming forward, that hasnt changed, so we have a bigger problem fighting crime than when it was illegal, see? Sextraffickers love my country b/c of this!
@legatoslide47 Let's go ahead and make murdering and stealing legal as well. Just because it is a widely exhibited crime, doesn't mean that our nation has to debase itself any lower just to rebuild our broken economy. We have plunged far enough into the cesspool of sin that we are today in America, why should we plunge any deeper, and cause even more regret as a nation?I believe we should turn back to our nation's roots;our nation was and is successful because it was founded as a nation under God.
@daileydevotion One nation under God? That was added to the pledge in 1954. America was founded by many men (who were deists) that believed there should be a separation between Church and State. This means, that religion or even God should not be involved in governing our nation. America is a secular nation, not a nation run by God, sorry. I hope this doesn't disappointed your imaginary friend in the sky.
if made legal maybe kids will stop locking themselves in their room to smoke and avoid their parents, maybe we are missing the bound because of fear not weed. So quick to rely on fear and outside arguments before trying to live together. Parenting is a job but fucking keep it to yourselves ! even your friend's dont care !
prostitution, gambling, and drugs I understand why those should be legalized, it would have numerous benefits, but non-violent crime? does this guy want it to be legal to break into some one's home a steal stuff as long as no one gets hurt?
Sex is legal. Selling stuff is legal. Hell, even having sex for money is legal as long as you videotape it (porn).
So why, exactly, is prostitution illegal? It seems like legalizing it and making it a regulated industry would only serve to make it safer for everyone involved. Plus you could tax it and not have to spend money on sting operations.
@Lethkhar2000 Thats exactly why its ILLEGAL, because they cant tax you for selling drugs or sex. Dont you notice, its only legal if they can tax you for it.
If they legalized selling drugs, than they COULD tax it. Prostitution is more of a service, and I don't know if they tax services. Is there a waiter tax?
yes, VICTIMLESS crime shoulda been how he worded it. Marijuana and other drugs are medical problems, not criminal problems, the whole idea behind weed being illegal is bc they make HUGE amounts of money on criminalizing us.
American Drug War: Last White Hope does an unbelievable job telling exactly what goes on.
@Lethkhar2000 yeah, the difference between fighting it by paying for a drug war and legalizing and taxing it comes out to be about a $37 Billion difference annually... just think about that lol
I love how the croud just bursts into laughter. "hahaha that's malarky, lets continue to spend billions of dollars on a failing drug war & let the pimps deal with prostitution, amsterdam doesn't know shit"
legalize nonviolent crime? I understand legalizing weed, it makes sense! But prostitution... kind of leading the country down a dark path there. As for nonviolent crime, stealing my stereo out of my car is nonviolent... I still don't think it should be legal.
I can expect this from some community college kids... some go because other schools are expensive.... others go because they are dumb as shit.
Rude, Stupid, Arrogant, Waste of Carbon! There we've both insulted each other, can we behave like adults now?
I was asking, POLITELY, for a logical reason that legalizing prostitution is a bad thing. I've been researching the matter lately and I have been able to find one reason not to legalize it. Do you have a logical argument against legal prostitution?
Your question in itself displays your lack of character and intelligence. The waste of carbon comment leads me to believe you are the type of guy that can only obtain booty through prostitutes.
I said that you are a waste of carbon, suggesting that the carbon in your body (being a carbon based life form) could have gone to better use than making you.
My question actually shows that I think about an issue before forming an opinion on it, a sure sign of intelligence. The fact I was polite in the beginning of our little discourse shows a depth of character. I fact that you choose to start this with an insult show a lack of character and intelligence on your part.
I'm going to assume that was not meant as an insult. My wife is a librarian.
I would never get involved in a debate in which I have a direct interest in the outcome, doing so would prevent me from having a balanced view on the matter.
@Sh0ckandAWE101 No prohibition creates more crime, and does not work!!, and eve n if that was the case, if that is the only way the can obtain booty. so what that is a right they should have. and prohibiting it will only make them sneak around and cause more trouble.
Family Values are really crappy things to make laws on as they vary between families.
Legalization and regulation of prostitution will make it easier for these women to get treatment for STD's and many even require regular testing for STD's which could slow the spread on the diseases.
If prostitution is legalized then other laws can be put in place making it more difficult to exploit these women. They'd be like most other employees.
Its not the fact of it having a dark path but you have to take into consideration that they make alot more money from housing the drug dealers and prostitutes in prison than they would if they were to legalize them and tax it.
I haven't been able to double check this figure but, as I understand incarceration costs 146000 dollars per year per prisoner. Given that much cost, how does anyone make money off incarceration?
People should just give up trying to get *your drug of choice* legalized. Governments exist to control people. It's a centralised form of control.
There's three options: Anarchism (Total freedom), Authoritarianism (Total control) and something in between, which is what most 'liberal nations' adhere to.
By all means do what you want. You wanna do coke then do it but don't act like you have rights. There's just the illusion of choice. That's all everything is!
But something in between always float from one direction to another and right now its going very close to authoritarianism. This should be reversed. Obama should be impeached.
what exactly IS "non-violent crime"? is that like non-violent rape? cheating on taxes? smuggling drugs across the border? distributing child pornography? speeding?
A non violent crime is a crime (as of according to the law now) where two or more people agree too do something that only affects them. Also people call it victimless because nobody is forcing no one against there will, and no one is hurt against their will.
He also said 'non violent crime' the idiot... Ofcourse a president isn't going to talk about legalizing anything with the word 'crime' in it, hell Obama and his 'change' is still at War with Drugs
"part of what we are supposed to do is question conventional wisdom"....so what, after we graduate college, we are suppose to be drones, go with the flow, believe that what the government is telling us is correct no matter what the evidence is against their case??? He just basically told us that we shouldn't have an opinion unless we are in college.
Every pole around has a clear majority of people, that at the very least, favors decriminalization. When I went to school. I was taught that the basic idea of democracy was that majority rules. What the hell happened?
Princess - this is not purely about "getting high". If you knew all the uses marijuana can provide such as industrial hemp including fuel alternatives, fabric and paper production, you would quickly rethink your statement because this would stimulate the economy. As a hard working professional, I would like to get "high but dont for obvious reasons, but oh well, guess ill just smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol for recreation since the government approves and thats far better for my health.
I didn't hear anything about Marijuana in that sentence? I heard drugs but not Marijuana?

Prostitution should be decrimnalized.

Can't you all get how tough of a position he's in. If he agrees that it would stimulate the economy, his opponents would claim that he's backing and endorsing drugs, facilitating it for people to get drugs. He already has enough haters from the second he took office, does he really need anymore? He's a great person, but still a politician. Backing illegal drugs is no good for his political side. I'm sure his laughing off the situation is just to quell off the awkward moment. He just doesn't want
aishajassim 1 year ago
I think it's ridiculous that as soon as he asked about legalizing prostitution the crowd bursts into laughter. The only things I really agree with legalizing is prostitution, cannabis, and gambling. These people that we call our "leaders" need to get their heads out of their asses and see what is really happening. Cannabis, or marijuana, could be making us billions but companies demonize it just like sillymonkey829 said.
LieutendantDan 1 year ago
Marijuana has become demonized by the pharmaceutical companies, textile companies, and food industry because they can make more money off of less useful, more dangerous, and more intensive crops. This is starting to change. The government could make billions off of pot and hemp. Prostitution should be a choice of the individual and a much less violent business. Abduction and sale of human beings by pimps should never be a part of it. And if you want to waste your money on gambling go ahead.

Ichliebemusikundybd 1 year ago
@Ichliebemusikundybd Actually we need more porn. Porn leads to masturbation. Masturbation relieves sexual tension and lessens arousal. People with higher thresholds for sexual arousal make less compulsive sexual decisions (ie have LESS SEX!). Less sex, fewer children...It ain't rocket science, but it is true!

@Ozlanthos and one more thing, there may be a 1st amendment in the U.S., but the U.S. don't make the ultimate rules. Heaven, makes the ultimate rules. and speaking out against that which stands for freedom and goodwill is ultimately a stupid thing to do in Our book.

@mikese93 Wha? I don't like Obama's policies, I never thought he should have even been considered as a candidate given his lack of experience in private industry, or any clear evidence of "leadership" qualities. -Oz
Ozlanthos 1 year ago
@Ozlanthos ozlanthos, jim jones is not history, jim jones, is a moron who got a bunch of people killed a few decades ago or whenever it was. history. HISTORY, is something that shaped the world humans have today. ww2, was history. slavery, was history. the rise of the ottoman empire, was history. and I know more about HISTORY, than you ever will. but I'll give you benefit of the doubt with the kool-aid, as I thought you were making a reference to black people and their drinking kool-aid.
mikese93 1 year ago
@mikese93 So if it didn't specifically involve racism, or black people it isn't "history"? I guess making it to the moon wasn't history either then. I know more about history than you'd ever give me credit for. And honestly, if you knew as much about our history as I do, you'd probably be an atheist too! As to the Kool-aid, your rush to judgment there reveals to me that you are a bigger racist than I could ever be, as that stereotype never even occurred to me until you pointed it out.
-Oz
Ozlanthos 1 year ago
@Ozlanthos what did ww2 and the ottoman empire have to do with racism against black people specifically? I just happened to pick slavery because it was the biggest event that had an influence on the u.s., which is the topic of this video in case you didn't notice. just so you know, the most important thing I listed was the rise of the ottoman empire-the other two pale in comparison, frankly because they only mattered for dogged, ignorant, moronic 21st century shit-for-brains, (e.g., YOU)

mikese93 1 year ago
@mikese93 Using Joseph Stalin as the figurehead of atheistic beliefs is ludicrous and undermines the very point you are trying to make. Lenin, Stalin and every other communist that came after simply supplanted one ideology with another. Ideology is what prevents us from approaching issues with a level head. When compulsive faith in "conventional wisdom" in spite of mountains of research-based evidence to the contrary prevents a reasonable debate democracy is broken.

@jimmysboo8788
1. The government has no right to police personal morality.
2. Enforcement of anti-prostitution laws are very costly and have no effect upon the spread of prostitution.
3. Legalization would bring it out into the open where prostitutes would face less risks and crime associated with it would drop due to stricter regulations.
legatoslide47 11 months ago
@legatoslide47 I agree with you my friend! Not only that, but this also reduces social stigmas, & will undoubtedly improve sense of self worth, and community. The government has as much right to tell us what to put into our bodies, as they do with what to put into our minds.... NO RIGHT AT ALL.
bane349 11 months ago
@bane349 Damn Straight. It is unfortunate however that a majority of Americans do not actually agree with this principle and our politicians certainly don't agree with it
legatoslide47 11 months ago
@legatoslide47 as you said it may continue to "contribute" to crime bt it does serve as a deterrent. Legalizing it will only encourage it. Conserving morality is important. Trust me it'll benefit many of us in the long run.
Belicose777 1 year ago
@Belicose777 If you have a problem with paying for sex then you have a right not to engage in that practice. However, I should have a right to engage in that pratice. The government has no business to police personal morality. You cannot put your personal sexual morality above mine. Furthermore what constitutes morality? Paying for sex is neither moral nor immoral. It does not need to be given one of those labels. Exchange of goods and services happens everyday. Paying for sex is no different
legatoslide47 11 months ago
@legatoslide47 Sex is much more then just "goods." I know you probably dont wanna hear about the bible but it describes the very nature of morality. Morality isnt what you see fit in your own eyes. If that were the case what Hitler did with killing millions of Jew to perserve Gene pools he saw moral too.
Belicose777 11 months ago
@Belicose777 No it absolutely will NOT! Studies have already shown us in other countries, where drugs have been decriminalized there has been a marked drop in crime, and that most drug crimes are a product of the blackmarket caused by prohibition. Much of the problem we face today has to do with other people trying to tell us what is and is not moral.
NEITHER YOU, NOR THE GOVERNMENT HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT IS MORAL!!!
bane349 11 months ago
@bane349 I mean crime only drops because youre decriminalizing the use of drugs making it ok. Doesnt mean murder rates or rape rates will drop.

Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber Know what dude? You're right. Morality IS something that shoudlnt be forced upon anyone. It should be a personal decision to follow the fabrics that hold together a sane, ethical, conservative society. Morality varying from person to person isnt morality it then becomes personal preference. Morality has a set base. A fundemental base by which you build on not what you decide to pick out as moral because its convenient to your desires.
Belicose777 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber I really hope you dont take offense to anything i say but it sounds somewhat hypocritical to say we can conserve morality by promoting good things bt yet you're ecouraging prostitution? do you see that as good? & maybe you were trying to emphasize that you should promote & not force morality & if that's the case then that was a respectable arguement. God bless, Hope to hear from you soon.
Belicose777 10 months ago
@Belicose777 Its not hypocritical at all, for example homosexuality, or cheating on your spousee, we can teach that its wrong, but we DONT HAVE TO CRIMINALIZE IT. let me ask you this, just because its legal to be gay does it mean I'm promoting it, or you are gonna run and get a gay boyfriend?. There are things that create more problems by trying to be outlawed. u simply cant legislate morality!. besides look and drugs and cigarrees, prohibition had the oposite effect 4 some peopl
Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber Not at all because homosexuality is a preference which some people find repulsive. Drugs and prostitution on the otherhand appeals to anyone with a sex drive & desire to feel pleasure. The need to legislate morals may seem unnecassary to many but in fact it's crucial to conserving humanity. We're sliding back into the age of the Roman gladiators & brutes & where pleasure was all anybdy cared about.
Belicose777 10 months ago
@Belicose777 "Conserving moralilty is important" but trying to legislate it is insane, furthermore isnt it hypocritical, you go on a date or a one night stand, pay and then bang, etc, and that is not immoral, but you pay ahead of time explicitly, and all of the sudden that's immoral. Or drinking a lot, smoking, eating unhealthy, but trying marijuana only a few times, and sudddenly one is a criminal. That is hypocresy. Prohibition creates black markets with crime. Also think of all the money
Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber Though legislating morality does seem "insane" i feel it's important as long as it doesnt contradict any of our rights. It does harm us. Maybe you should look into the affects of perversion on the mind. & idk exactly how you see morality bt a one night stand is just as immoral as prostitution. Sex before is considered immoral & i understand money is important & is necassary bt at what cost? Our morality, our honor for money for pleasure?

@Strangerinasland I've grown a little since my last comment here and no that was never my intention. I was just trying to voice an opinion no one cared to agree with. That's as far as that goes in terms of making it a commonly practiced concept.

@legatoslide47 crime is part and parcel of prostitution, legalization doesnt make it go away, in fact in the Netherlands where it has been legal for 10 years now crime, sextrafficking and forced prostitution have grown, not lessened.
vasarasx 11 months ago
@vasarasx When Sweden passed a law in 1999 passing a law against paying for sex, violence against women went up and pay for prostitutes severely decreased. It varies based upon country. Yes the netherlands is one of the top human trafficking destinations mostly due to its red light district which is th emost famous in the world. However, the red light district has been less regulated in the time when trafficking went up.
legatoslide47 11 months ago

Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber I live in a country where it is legal, so I know what Im talking about, the problems that are there when it is illegal are still there when it is legal. You dont understand how legalization works, and there is still a black market, in fact it has been growing here, there are so many problems, it's up in parliament today for debate and new laws to curb crime, sextrafficking etc. Look at the facts, not what you think legalization is gonna do, it is a mess.
vasarasx 10 months ago
@vasarasx what country/ city do you live in???
the thing if it is legal, there has to be some sort of regulation. there will always be a black market, but its easier to handle it since, before there wasn't any control, and the entirety of people in this industry was forced underground.
not to mention use of law enforcement on real crime, and other issues.
I lived for 17 years where it was legal, I never went there though, but at least some have a safer enviroment, and there is tax revenue.
Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber Netherlands, the point of an illegal market is that you by definition CANNOT regulate it, and in the legal sector there is still illegal activity. Forced prostitution has grown as has sextrafficking b/c when it is legal the demand grows, thus there is need for more women. There is more abuse of women (and men) in prostitution. Legalizing is NOT gonna make that better, in fact prost themselves have indicated their overall wellbeing is WORSE than it was when it was illegal!
vasarasx 10 months ago
@vasarasx This is the most ignorant thing I think I've ever read. When a prostitute trafficking in illegal sex is assaulted he or she cannot come forward to report it to authorities. When the market is legal or at the very least decriminalized, they can at least come forward to accuse the attacker. It is a person's right to give away or sell their body.
etodez 10 months ago
@etodez sextrafficking is illegal also where prostitution is illegal, so this means when a woman/girl is trafficked, she can come forward where prost is illegal, same as in a country where prostitution is legal, no difference. Btw, Im not for it being illegal to prostitutte for women, but for the buyer it should be illegal. In my country, women fear to come forward when theyve been trafficked or forced into prost, thats also why its so hard to prosecute the traffickers, think before you post!

etodez 10 months ago

We have plunged far enough into the cesspool of sin that we are today in America, why should we plunge any deeper, and cause even more regret as a nation?I believe we should turn back to our nation's roots;our nation was and is successful because it was founded as a nation under God.
daileydevotion 10 months ago

Retact 1 year ago
now if you notice everything thats illegal in U.S is non profiting to them so in other words their avoiding us from making good money
kumbiaz14 1 year ago
Sex is legal. Selling stuff is legal. Hell, even having sex for money is legal as long as you videotape it (porn).
So why, exactly, is prostitution illegal? It seems like legalizing it and making it a regulated industry would only serve to make it safer for everyone involved. Plus you could tax it and not have to spend money on sting operations.
Lethkhar2000 2 years ago 2
@Lethkhar2000 Thats exactly why its ILLEGAL, because they cant tax you for selling drugs or sex. Dont you notice, its only legal if they can tax you for it.
aaronreina 2 years ago
@aaronreina It's the other way around. You can only tax something if it's legal.
Lethkhar2000 2 years ago
If they legalized selling drugs, than they COULD tax it. Prostitution is more of a service, and I don't know if they tax services. Is there a waiter tax?
Retact 1 year ago
yes, VICTIMLESS crime shoulda been how he worded it. Marijuana and other drugs are medical problems, not criminal problems, the whole idea behind weed being illegal is bc they make HUGE amounts of money on criminalizing us.
American Drug War: Last White Hope does an unbelievable job telling exactly what goes on.
brandaniel2 2 years ago
Couldn't they just tax the marijuana? That seems like it would make far more money than having to pay for cops and prisons for stoners.
Lethkhar2000 2 years ago
@Lethkhar2000 yeah, the difference between fighting it by paying for a drug war and legalizing and taxing it comes out to be about a $37 Billion difference annually... just think about that lol

legalize nonviolent crime? I understand legalizing weed, it makes sense! But prostitution... kind of leading the country down a dark path there. As for nonviolent crime, stealing my stereo out of my car is nonviolent... I still don't think it should be legal.
I can expect this from some community college kids... some go because other schools are expensive.... others go because they are dumb as shit.
Sh0ckandAWE101 2 years ago
what dark path does legalizing prostitution lead us down exactly?

Where girls become prostitutes...that path. Dipshit

Retact 1 year ago
Your question in itself displays your lack of character and intelligence. The waste of carbon comment leads me to believe you are the type of guy that can only obtain booty through prostitutes.
Sh0ckandAWE101 1 year ago
I said that you are a waste of carbon, suggesting that the carbon in your body (being a carbon based life form) could have gone to better use than making you.
My question actually shows that I think about an issue before forming an opinion on it, a sure sign of intelligence. The fact I was polite in the beginning of our little discourse shows a depth of character. I fact that you choose to start this with an insult show a lack of character and intelligence on your part.
I'm happily married.

To a prostitute?
Sh0ckandAWE101 1 year ago
I'm going to assume that was not meant as an insult. My wife is a librarian.
I would never get involved in a debate in which I have a direct interest in the outcome, doing so would prevent me from having a balanced view on the matter.
Retact 1 year ago
@Sh0ckandAWE101 No prohibition creates more crime, and does not work!!, and eve n if that was the case, if that is the only way the can obtain booty. so what that is a right they should have. and prohibiting it will only make them sneak around and cause more trouble.
Ddstairclimber 1 year ago
@Retact...Aids, Family Values, STD's, Exploitation of poor women.... How much research did you do?
TnucWing 1 year ago
Family Values are really crappy things to make laws on as they vary between families.
Legalization and regulation of prostitution will make it easier for these women to get treatment for STD's and many even require regular testing for STD's which could slow the spread on the diseases.
If prostitution is legalized then other laws can be put in place making it more difficult to exploit these women. They'd be like most other employees.
Retact 1 year ago
Its not the fact of it having a dark path but you have to take into consideration that they make alot more money from housing the drug dealers and prostitutes in prison than they would if they were to legalize them and tax it.

Wow! Someone with a brain!
I haven't been able to double check this figure but, as I understand incarceration costs 146000 dollars per year per prisoner. Given that much cost, how does anyone make money off incarceration?
Retact 1 year ago
VICTIMLESS crimes is what he should have said. The law uses violence as a tool and causes the most victims.
yay78900 2 years ago 2
People should just give up trying to get *your drug of choice* legalized. Governments exist to control people. It's a centralised form of control.
There's three options: Anarchism (Total freedom), Authoritarianism (Total control) and something in between, which is what most 'liberal nations' adhere to.
By all means do what you want. You wanna do coke then do it but don't act like you have rights. There's just the illusion of choice. That's all everything is!
DazedNConfused01 2 years ago
But something in between always float from one direction to another and right now its going very close to authoritarianism. This should be reversed. Obama should be impeached.
fatjohn1408 2 years ago
Obamas organized crime buddys cringe with fear when they ask him about ending cannabis prohibition.
BY the way, in the word "Obama" is the word "ma" , It is the Chinese word for marijuana.

what exactly IS "non-violent crime"? is that like non-violent rape? cheating on taxes? smuggling drugs across the border? distributing child pornography? speeding?
that was a poorly worded question...
xgotarox 2 years ago 2
A non violent crime is a crime (as of according to the law now) where two or more people agree too do something that only affects them. Also people call it victimless because nobody is forcing no one against there will, and no one is hurt against their will.
Libetarian 2 years ago
He also said 'non violent crime' the idiot... Ofcourse a president isn't going to talk about legalizing anything with the word 'crime' in it, hell Obama and his 'change' is still at War with Drugs

He just basically told us that we shouldn't have an opinion unless we are in college.

Every pole around has a clear majority of people, that at the very least, favors decriminalization. When I went to school. I was taught that the basic idea of democracy was that majority rules. What the hell happened?

some one should asked Obama for the decriminalization of Marijuana. ill be so shocked if somebody asked him that question.
