I can't help but be curious, though: Why do so black women refuse to date men of other races, especially white men?? Not trying to ruffle feathers here, just an honest question...
@mariala28 black women don't have class so you cant expect them to recognize or understand the class that white men have within themselves. instead they prefer to choose their own lowlife dirty Negroid, ignorant crack-addict fucks that will in 3 weeks time infect them with AIDS, get them pregnant with 8 kids, beat, rape and abuse and leave them to suffer. and the cycle of Disease-Ridden vermin production continues indefinitely
Man but, people just can't say racism was just back then it is now too. And everytime you open up a magaizine hey are saying black women are the most un healthiest women on record or either talking about black men and women's relationships together saying black women are annoying and nagging spend a day with a normal black woman and then you cud say something.
"Interracial dating" is funny to me. Why not call it "black guy, white girl dating?" I don't see it the other way around ANYWHERE NEAR as much. For that matter, I don't see any emphasis on the other races dating each other as much either. Does "interracial dating" include all races or only black guys and white girls?
@MrTheThinker1 I've seen white men with black women and asian women, and nobody has a problem with that. It seems to me that RACIST people like you feel that black men don't have the right to be happy..
And by the way, having a cheating partner is not a black or white problem. Its a human problem. Finding a trustworthy partner is an issue for women in general. Its pretty naive to blame it on color.
This topic has been going on for MANY decades, maybe longer. Read The Autobiography of Malcolm X and you'll see this topic was hot in the 1930's and 1940's. It is what it is.
Love this scene, love this movie, but I have to say...the ultimate irony is that both Veronica Webb (Vera) and Lonette McKee (Drew) are bi-racial. As little as 20 years ago, black was black, no matter how much or how little you were. Now, the discourse is allowing people to be all of who/what they are. That's progress to me. As for the discussion...I do think there is some media/cultural influence on ALL men of color. But ultimately, it's choice. Options are more vast and people exercise them
Sadly too many are appreciated most by black men, so when they go white, Black women feel rejected by society AND the only group that appreciates the African features that society deems unattractive.
Most black women who are bothered by black men dating white women, do so due to lack of choices. Black women aren't considered attractive unless mixed or light and it isn't comfortable for nonblack men to bring a black woman out or home. If black women had a greater number of nonblack men of quality asking them out, this wouldn't be an issue.
Being Black myself, I grew up in a mostly white neighborhood most of my life and most of the girls i had crushes on were white. Some were asian, some black, hispanic. There were some black girls I did like too. I grew up with the attitude to accept people for who they are, regardless of race. When I do marry, it will be for love. My mom does not believe i should marry outside my race, either. But when it comes to love, color/race means nothing to me. Feel free to comment.
This clip sucks. If you fight against segregation then don't segregate yourself. The majority of black men do date black women. Why the hell should you have a problem if a black man wants to be with a white woman? Insecurity. Love is beautiful...rascism is ugly. If a black man prefers a light skinned woman it doesn't make him rascist either. Everyone has preferences. Us women have them. Some like tall men, some like slender, some like muscular. It's a physical preference. Get over it!!!
@bekindtoanimals100 Hey, i agree. Its sad that people got to make a big issue out of people dating outside their race. Im black and part cherokee, and i live in a white neighborhood most of my life, and most of my freinds were white, but we did not discriminate. When it came to dating, race was not the issue. Despite what my mother and others think, Whatever girl i date, I don't care about the color of her skin, its whats in her heart that matters.
I diagree with your comment your refuse to acknowledge the issue of racism and how it has gotten into the psyche of black people. You don't even question why black men go out with white women? Some black men do love white women but some of them date or marry white women because they are obsessed with the white image of beauty. Black men have been told by the white media that the only attractive woman is a white woman.
Another "Pro-Black, Anti-White" piece of propaganda by the always racist Spike Lee. Seriously, Being a black American myself, I can say without a doubt that conversations like the one these women are having and the mentality that is prevelant is one of the main reasons why I will NEVER date someone who is as shallow and holier-than-thou than these black chicks. Seriously, black women do not OWN black men. Do we share the same ethnicity, yes, but do we owe each other anything, HELL NO.
@OrochiGeese7 I am a Black man, I say as men we have the luxury to say what you have just said. But, look at history. It has been Black women who suffered a great deal of oppression. We are a mixed breed of people because the White man raped and sexually exploited Black women. He did not do this to his own. I agree she doesn't own you but you owe her your very life. U R a Black man, correct, that means your mother, aunts, sisters R Black. Even kids you'd have w. a White, w/b Black in society.
@cjfl1962 The fact that my mother is Black is not remotely important. The fact that she was able to scrape out a far better than decent life for me is something that I could never hope to repay in full, and that is how I feel about my mother regardless of ethnicity. But to say that I owe ALL Black women my life is utterly ludicrous. Only ONE Black woman (better yet, woman in general) has done enough for me to say that I owe her my life, and that is my mother. No other Black woman matters.
@OrochiGeese7 No other B W in your family/ neighborhood lent a hand? I find that hard to believe. In my case, there were Black women in my family that lent a hand. Due to society's racist issues and the White standard of beauty Black women are left out more than any other group of women. U can't just say that's their problem as a Black man. Things in this life don't just happen in a vacuum. I'm not saying U have to be with one but at least as a BM understand that their plight is yours too.

The woman who puts it down to girls being told they can't date black guys when they're younger pretty much has it sorted. It's just like anything else you tell someone they can't have- they want it more. And with all this mystery and urban legend surrounding different races, and "Blacks" being at the top of this list, it's no surprise that some people think there's something special about them, when the truth is we're all the same, but just think differently, and that's what makes the difference
im Hispanic an my grandmother was dark an looked like a black woman yet she only spoke Spanish, an she would favor the whiter looking gran-kids,, this is the way people are,, its the media an the school books history tells lies of are our people our genetics, that white is right,, but its scientifically proven that the blacker u are the stronger ur genetic structure is so there for ur a stronger being its so sad that most of this has to do with self hatred cause ova the yrs we were manipulated
@zeelove8 This is called "white privilege" and it is worldwide. U got Asian women doing surgery to look like white women. Indian women using skin lightener also. Along with this you have a racial pecking order: whites #1, Asians/Indians, Arabs and other non-whites #2, and Blacks on the bottom. Example, an Asian father prefers that his daughter marry an Asian guy, but a White guy w/b acceptable but a Black guy would bring dishonor to the family.
@cjfl1962 that wasnt always the case,,, that lighter is better,, an that white is right mentality is alllll propaganda bull-shht*( manipulated in the minds of the people threw tv an all media sources,, even black women deal with thier own self hatred putting fake-ass hair that rips their own out,, buying the straightest asian hair too, i think its sad*(
@zeelove8 Black women have been forced to survive since slavery times and a part that was changing their appearance to look as close to white women as possible. But, I say at least nowadays, Black women need to embrace who they are and say to hell with this white dominated society's values and beliefs about beauty. Like they say Black don't Black crack.
@ginginnyme date whoever makes you happy, just be aware of the societal repercussions. I myself am seen as an african American male. But I am not I was born in the Carribean, so my culture isn't even american.
@ginginnyme I myself am multi racial but most see me as bi-racial. I still remember in second grade when i got into a fight instigated by these two kids who were a lot darker than i and they told me me they hated me because since my skin was lighter than theirs (A High yellow) that I would have more opportunities in the future. I asked who told them that, and they said it was their parents. maybe this may answer your question a bit

@princess11222, you have to realize that more black women are embracing this "white woman" look. the fact that black women wear their hair the way they do, signifies this "psychological" attack on black women as well as black men. but, black women date who ever they want to be with and not all black women are attracted to "all" black men in general.
Here's some honesty. I'm a black guy, I don't have any special interest in dating white women, black girls rank higher for me, but only slightly. White women do love the black dick, but that's it. I haven't found one white woman who wanted me for me, and not for my dick and the experience of fucking a black guy so they can brag to their friends about it when they are thirty. If any race is stealing the black men, it's Asians, but they don't give us the time of day anyway.
I am just utterly disgusted by this clip.....the openness towards racism is really appreciated here....I heard the word "white bitch" so many times that I was awe struck.....I really hope one day that African Americans would learn one day the amount of reverse racism and double standards that go on in this day and age!!!!! Its really unfair, there is no equality!
Reverse racism my ass. White women do throw themselves at black men. The number of black men with white women is excessive. It has to be psychological in some nature, because it's not just coincidence.
why does this bother you? it don't bother me when white women go after black men. (well i aint into white women anyways) cuz simple, i love da sistas and da sistas love me. never been with a white woman before, nor do i care for being with one.
Was it fair for millions of Africans to be brought to this country and into slavery? Now how often do you hear white people say the "Nigger" among themselves? There is no double standard her . everybody is accountable for there own actions and what words they use and say. I bet you never heard in your life thats its ok for a black person to be racist so stop complaining and grow up
because of this conversation. i personally called one of my classmates and apologized to her. she is dark skinned. she is extremely beautiful. but the dark skin caused a lot of brothas to pass her up because she was considered unattractive. brothas passed her up for flea bag white girls. and a white man ended up seeing in her what we black men didnt see. oh but we see it now. melissa, you are a beautiful black woman
Why is it hard to interacially date when most black men date outside of their race? The numbers are excessive compared to men of other races. I don't see anyone making it hard, in fact you have it rather easily. Enjoy.
@princess11222 Hi, I am bi-racial and I date whomever I please. Could you give me an answer to this question please. Why is it when a famous black woman marries a white man it is no big deal, Diana Ross, Halle Berry, Lena Horne, there are quite a few. No-one bats an eye but when a black man dates a white woman it is wrong. Now when the white man sees a good looking ww with a bm, oh she is just our leftovers, or she is a slut or in it for the money. Why is that. A black man cannot win.
I always enjoyed this movie, but i never liked this scene. In a way it perpetuates too many negative stereotypes about both races. Though i do think it is good to spark conversation about how each of our races relate to each other, Spike Lee focuses on this dark side to interracial relationships. I think it would have been more productive to have examples of people from different races making it work .
@VioletSpanxx Reality for whom. Reality is about perspective. My best friend is a black woman who is happily married to a black man who treats her well. I am white, and I date black men. My best friend has never approached me, or anyone else for that matter, with the view that we are "stealing" her men. It is a ridiculous and outdated cliche to assume this perspective. Furthermore, my fiance did not start dating me due to some deep self loathing for himself or his race.
@smwildmon01 ...Reality for bitter women. I don;t know why you've replied to me in this fashion, as I've not said I endorse these opinions. My nephews and niece are mixed race, I've only dated white men (not a conscious effort, i just go for people I like), but the cold hard truth is in 2011 there are still women who think like this. TRUST me.. A colleague of mine said that for me to sleep w/ a white man is like willingly fucking my slaveowner.
@smwildmon01 My best friend's black cousins in the states won't speak to her because her father's white. You've also made an assumption that I think all black men are a certain way which is insulting. I'm not about to stereotype when the strongest, most loving black man I know was my father among others. I am not an idiot. I know faults are not allocated by how much pigment is in one's skin. But the fact the scene's unscripted demonstrates that those attitudes existed. And they still do.
@VioletSpanxx Who you love is based on attraction and is a deeply personal decision. The first time I saw this scene one word came to mind "bitter". Not to mention, if women of any color spent less time worrying about men and more time focusing on their own well being and happiness there would be a lot less of this type of close-mindedness in the world. How you are treated by a man is partially your responsibility...what you will allow. And decision that has absolutely zero relation to color.
"...if women of any color spent less time worrying about men and more time focusing on their own well being and happiness there would be a lot less of this type of close-mindedness in the world." My mother taught us better than to feel validated by how much attention some man pays me! And I totally agree w/ you. If you allow a man to take the piss with you he'll do so. It's sad..My brother's not been back to the US since his fiancee was referred to as a white bitch, by an ex family friend!
@smwildmon01 I think it is very easy for you to say black women in the scene are bitter you obviously do NOT understand the scene. The scene is an important one because FINALLY black women had a chance to speak about how they feel. We live in a racist society that devalues black women and places the white woman on a pedestal as the standard of beauty. I think it is very convenient for you to blame black women and not even acknowledge the pain they are feeling it is REAL.
@JordanjamesX I have a degree in Literature, so I understand this scene perfectly. And, I am a woman, so I know a little something about women's struggles with bitterness of men. It is bitterness. They have been mistreated so they blame black men and white women, placing stereotypes on the whole group. What's sadly ironic is that two of these women are mixed, which means they have some serious self loathing going on.
@JordanjamesX Yes, there are some racist individuals left out there, but to claim our entire society is racist is just ridiculous, and a refusal to move on from the past and live in the future. There are a plethora of beautiful black women out there making it in politics, big business, and as beauty icons. Take Alek Wek for example: High payed supermodel and dark natural black beauty. The truth is most black men are with black women, and most black women don't feel like this is this day in age.
@smwildmon01 I doubt you are a black woman because the scene is not about celebrities. The scene is about the negative racist and sexist attitude that black women experience in society. Black women are conditioned by a white supremacist society to conform to the ascendency towards whiteness. The white image of the white woman as the beautiful is forced on to black women. Clearly you did not understand the scene.
@JordanjamesX And, to continue to perpetuate this negative state of mind, and excuse any kind of negative race relations based on the fact that there are more interracial couples due to the breakdown of social taboos, and both black men and women allowed to choose who they love and who they are attracted to, is just plain closed minded and ludicrous. Some of these women are bitter, I am sorry but its true. "They gonna get that black dick. It's yours and its mine and they want it." Ridiculous.
@tony666ism I don't have to be a black woman to have a completely relevant, and heavily considered opinion on the matter. If anything is unfair it's that these women bash an entire group of people based on some bad experience from their passed. If I was a black man I would be deeply and unabashedly offended by the opinions that are being piped to thousands of young women by this scene. It is beyond ignorant and bigoted to classify all black men this way, or white women for that matter.
The part of the film hightlights black women anger where society tells them to be beautiful you have to be white..I did`nt like Spike Lee´s film. Because the interracial relationship was based on adultery..Which placed the relationship in negative light from a start..Rather than the relationship starting with them as two single adults( Flipper and Angie )
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I am disgusted how these women can just bash white women like this..this is racism at its extremity....i heard the word white bitch about 15 times...
But I guess its no big deal...blacks can say whatever they want about whites.....but it is taboo for whites to talk about blacks or other minorities in any kind of negative context.
what do you mean society? Movies are made by individuals, WC Fields made the movie. Not "society", since society is made up by people with diverse views.
This movies reflects the views of Spike Lee at the time and Birth of a nation WC fields.
@pahwraith you may not believe it......but you are living in a specific society.....you may not even know exactly what society means.....but believe me.......there are bigger influences on people such as yourself ......then just individuals, who have their own diverse views.........You...yourself are ordinary....... accept it.....you may be some big black man who appears to be important............trust me.....you probably work for the postal service...after 3 dishonorable years in the Army.
@shanepetty29 As a matter of fact....American History X was an Ironic story for the white man...it basically schooled everyone that racism is bad....maybe it is bad......but.....again.....perhaps someone has to stand up and protest against the urban decay and senseless deterioration of our cities throughout the United States...This is the United States of America...the richest country in the world....your people still tend to bring their roots back and make it appear as a third world country!!
brandic20-No its not "racist" you used the word out of context. They are expressing xenophobic attitudes towards white women. Asians are considered to be a highly Xenophobic people. When you use your xenophobia to oppress and deprive other people then that is Racism. These women are not depriving or oppressing white women with their opinions or beliefs therefore they are not racist. Many whites are trying to merge the meanings of Racism with prejudice & Xenophobia. They are all different.
This is my favorite movie from Spike Lee. The entire movie is REALLY good and address issues of interacial dating on both ends. WE (blacks) have many issues with color within our own culture. Unfortunately there are a lot of us "programmed" to think that darker skin, course hair, and full lips isnt as attractive as lighter skin, long, straight or curly hair. Caucasians have been used as the measuring stick to define acceptable beauty. Its good that we've progressed away from this as a nation.
Caucasians blonde hair blue eye mutha fucka is the measuring stick. I got a lot of flack from the pollock community here in Hamtramck becuase of my italian/albanian heritage. There's white on white hate and it is strong as ever.
@Blakmajik78 ......................I really would be proud if Black people would accept their heritage...and ..love their dark brothers and sisters..............African Americans have their own unique culture and ethnicity.............no one should be ashamed of their own national identity.....I feel exceptional sorrow for the poor dark colored females in the African American community...............they may never find true love....it seems there men are off to lighter skin.............
@Blakmajik78 I was with you until you said we've progressed away from this. When I listen to my brother talk, when I walk talk to my black guy friends and even when I just watch commercials, it's evident that we haven't
@Blakmajik78 not to be disrespectful in any way but i disagreed with most of that comment but its still true so some extent but i love all women i dont care who's family they are a part of what race, culture, skin color, i just dont care (unlike most of my family) i want someone that i can love and can love me back...that all i wish everyone wanted but i guess the racial barriers will be there for a long time (in all cultures) possibly forever thats not to say thats a bad thing but to me i is
And thoughts like this are the main reason that I tend to date anyone I choose REGARDLESS of Ethnicity. The way that these "women" are talking is the main reason why I tend to steer clear of black women.
hey orochi, i just read ur comment. sounds like it could be interesting, but i didnt understand wot u were sayin. could u explain, please? ***i date regardless of ethnicity/i steer clear of black women***
Not like i posted that comment a few years ago but unless you have seen this whole movie then i suggest you not come at me with your ignorance. This movie was designed to show all the racial tension and segregation in America present day now if people want to get all sensitive and offended then thats their problem but i have seen the whole movie and it made me realize that racism is still going on to this day and for America dont think it will ever leave
Inez, I couldn't agree with you more. I don't care what race a guy is. As long as he's nice to me,sweet to me, listens to me, and I absolutely believe loves me. And besides I see alot of fine men from all over the world like: The Phillipines, Samoa, Germany, The Carribbean, Mexico- everywhere.
Yeah whatever Drew! White women, Asian women, Jewish women NONE of them are told or made to look at the blue collar working men or lower level financial bracket of men of their race or religion, THEY ARE NEVER TOLD THAT STUFF!
Their parents always want their daughters to marry at their financial level or richer than that preferrably the latter. This is why in the western world esp. Asian women are sometimes with rich men same goes for the well known 'find a rich Jewish doctor' request.
Spike has a lot of scenes like this in his movies-- people speaking their minds freely. As viewers we learn a lot from this but if only people would actually express themselves honestly like this in everyday life... there would be a lot more understanding.
Yes, I agree with all of them in a strange way they all have great points about we need to look at men of other races and black men that work at bus stations search in a different way but most important to me we need to respect ourselves by being independent and smart.
Yeah whatever Drew! White women, Asian women, Jewish women NONE of them are told or made to look at the blue collar working men or lower level financial bracket of men of their race or religion, THEY ARE NEVER TOLD THAT STUFF!

Black bus drivers and garbage men cheat too, is it saying something about you or him if he doesn't cheat because his woman has more money, umm? Let's face it yt supremacy and weak-minded color-struck Blk men are going to have blk wom as relics in a museum one day soon. I dont bleach I don't perm and I love my chocolate skin, I find that black men (not all but so many) despise it on sight, I refuse to give yt supremacy & blk men my essence, wom of other races don't have too, oh well, peace out
same thing, let's quit trying to put everyone in the black catagory when all is said and done the latinos want their Americas back & blk pp are not their concern she is white enough, black pp should concentrate on Africa if you want pp from different countries to be black, Africas got a bunch to chose from, hotep
THEY GON GET IT THEY GON GET IT THEY GON GET THAT BLACK DICK!.... MISS THANG ON YA' ARM. Why did this remind me of my mothers women's auxillary meeting on tuesday night.
they couldn't be any more wrong or racest not all white girls jump at the sight of a black man, well i can just as easily say that all black girls jump at the sight of a white man because that would be wrong to say its very Postcolonialism its not right.
just because we have differeant skin colour it doesn't make us any differant
not being funny but everything their saying in da vid is true 99.9% of the male celebs are with white women which is just appalling, don't get me wrong i'm all for interracial relationships as i have many cousins who are mixrace etc but over HALF of the black male population whether in the US or the UK(which is where i'm from) are with non black women majority white, what are we black women suppose to do go find us a white man??? i don't think so lol
If you don't think so then when YOU end up alone and middle aged then you have no one to blame but yourself. Black women care WAY too much what other people think about them or their actions, meanwhile black women need to take a look around to see if everybody else isn't just carrying on doing whatever the hell THEY want to do!

Sadly too many are appreciated most by black men, so when they go white, Black women feel rejected by society AND the only group that appreciates the African features that society deems unattractive.
sarrahcadet78 1 year ago

Get over it!!!
bekindtoanimals100 1 year ago 4
@bekindtoanimals100 Hey, i agree. Its sad that people got to make a big issue out of people dating outside their race. Im black and part cherokee, and i live in a white neighborhood most of my life, and most of my freinds were white, but we did not discriminate. When it came to dating, race was not the issue. Despite what my mother and others think, Whatever girl i date, I don't care about the color of her skin, its whats in her heart that matters.
haynes1776 1 year ago 6
@bekindtoanimals100
JordanjamesX 1 year ago
i think your down playing it a lot
when it comes to black people anything that implies white people are superior to black people has always meant racism
so i don't know why people think black women should view things any differently when
black men say white women are superior to black women
i think your making your statement off of the subconscious belief that black men can't be racist
people think black women get mad at BM for simply being attracted to white women
but its when they put

Even kids you'd have w. a White, w/b Black in society.
cjfl1962 1 year ago
@cjfl1962 The fact that my mother is Black is not remotely important. The fact that she was able to scrape out a far better than decent life for me is something that I could never hope to repay in full, and that is how I feel about my mother regardless of ethnicity. But to say that I owe ALL Black women my life is utterly ludicrous. Only ONE Black woman (better yet, woman in general) has done enough for me to say that I owe her my life, and that is my mother. No other Black woman matters.
OrochiGeese7 1 year ago

Why is it when a famous black woman marries a white man it is no big deal, Diana Ross, Halle Berry, Lena Horne, there are quite a few. No-one bats an eye but when a black man dates a white woman it is wrong.

VioletSpanxx 11 months ago
@VioletSpanxx Reality for whom. Reality is about perspective. My best friend is a black woman who is happily married to a black man who treats her well. I am white, and I date black men. My best friend has never approached me, or anyone else for that matter, with the view that we are "stealing" her men. It is a ridiculous and outdated cliche to assume this perspective. Furthermore, my fiance did not start dating me due to some deep self loathing for himself or his race.
smwildmon01 11 months ago
@smwildmon01 ...Reality for bitter women. I don;t know why you've replied to me in this fashion, as I've not said I endorse these opinions. My nephews and niece are mixed race, I've only dated white men (not a conscious effort, i just go for people I like), but the cold hard truth is in 2011 there are still women who think like this. TRUST me.. A colleague of mine said that for me to sleep w/ a white man is like willingly fucking my slaveowner.
VioletSpanxx 11 months ago
@smwildmon01 My best friend's black cousins in the states won't speak to her because her father's white. You've also made an assumption that I think all black men are a certain way which is insulting. I'm not about to stereotype when the strongest, most loving black man I know was my father among others. I am not an idiot. I know faults are not allocated by how much pigment is in one's skin. But the fact the scene's unscripted demonstrates that those attitudes existed. And they still do.
VioletSpanxx 11 months ago
@VioletSpanxx Who you love is based on attraction and is a deeply personal decision. The first time I saw this scene one word came to mind "bitter". Not to mention, if women of any color spent less time worrying about men and more time focusing on their own well being and happiness there would be a lot less of this type of close-mindedness in the world. How you are treated by a man is partially your responsibility...what you will allow. And decision that has absolutely zero relation to color.
smwildmon01 11 months ago
"...if women of any color spent less time worrying about men and more time focusing on their own well being and happiness there would be a lot less of this type of close-mindedness in the world." My mother taught us better than to feel validated by how much attention some man pays me! And I totally agree w/ you. If you allow a man to take the piss with you he'll do so. It's sad..My brother's not been back to the US since his fiancee was referred to as a white bitch, by an ex family friend!
VioletSpanxx 11 months ago
@smwildmon01 I think it is very easy for you to say black women in the scene are bitter you obviously do NOT understand the scene. The scene is an important one because FINALLY black women had a chance to speak about how they feel. We live in a racist society that devalues black women and places the white woman on a pedestal as the standard of beauty. I think it is very convenient for you to blame black women and not even acknowledge the pain they are feeling it is REAL.
JordanjamesX 11 months ago
@JordanjamesX I have a degree in Literature, so I understand this scene perfectly. And, I am a woman, so I know a little something about women's struggles with bitterness of men. It is bitterness. They have been mistreated so they blame black men and white women, placing stereotypes on the whole group. What's sadly ironic is that two of these women are mixed, which means they have some serious self loathing going on.
smwildmon01 11 months ago
@JordanjamesX Yes, there are some racist individuals left out there, but to claim our entire society is racist is just ridiculous, and a refusal to move on from the past and live in the future. There are a plethora of beautiful black women out there making it in politics, big business, and as beauty icons. Take Alek Wek for example: High payed supermodel and dark natural black beauty. The truth is most black men are with black women, and most black women don't feel like this is this day in age.
smwildmon01 11 months ago
@smwildmon01 I doubt you are a black woman because the scene is not about celebrities. The scene is about the negative racist and sexist attitude that black women experience in society. Black women are conditioned by a white supremacist society to conform to the ascendency towards whiteness. The white image of the white woman as the beautiful is forced on to black women. Clearly you did not understand the scene.
JordanjamesX 10 months ago
@JordanjamesX And, to continue to perpetuate this negative state of mind, and excuse any kind of negative race relations based on the fact that there are more interracial couples due to the breakdown of social taboos, and both black men and women allowed to choose who they love and who they are attracted to, is just plain closed minded and ludicrous. Some of these women are bitter, I am sorry but its true. "They gonna get that black dick. It's yours and its mine and they want it." Ridiculous.
smwildmon01 11 months ago
@smwildmon01
kind of unfair to dismiss it as being bitter
when your not a black woman
they didn't pull these claims in this scene out of thin air
many black women go through experience that make them draw these kind of conclusions
just because it isn't reality for you doesn't mean it isn't reality for other people
besides someone being bitter or not doesn't make what they say any less true
tony666ism 11 months ago
@tony666ism I don't have to be a black woman to have a completely relevant, and heavily considered opinion on the matter. If anything is unfair it's that these women bash an entire group of people based on some bad experience from their passed. If I was a black man I would be deeply and unabashedly offended by the opinions that are being piped to thousands of young women by this scene. It is beyond ignorant and bigoted to classify all black men this way, or white women for that matter.

brandic20-No its not "racist" you used the word out of context.

Their parents always want their daughters to marry at their financial level or richer than that preferrably the latter. This is why in the western world esp. Asian women are sometimes with rich men same goes for the well known 'find a rich Jewish doctor' request.

Annabella Sciorra is Cuban, not white. So why couldn't Spike Lee get a real white woman to play her part?!
JamaicaUK 3 years ago
Actually, Annabella Sciorra is Italian-American.
BrandonJBlair 2 years ago
Well, I googled her. And actually her father is half Italian and half Cuban and her mother is French. So technically she's not 100% white!
JamaicaUK 2 years ago
Actually that makes her white.

same thing, let's quit trying to put everyone in the black catagory when all is said and done the latinos want their Americas back & blk pp are not their concern she is white enough, black pp should concentrate on Africa if you want pp from different countries to be black, Africas got a bunch to chose from, hotep

they couldn't be any more wrong or racest not all white girls jump at the sight of a black man, well i can just as easily say that all black girls jump at the sight of a white man because that would be wrong to say its very Postcolonialism its not right.
just because we have differeant skin colour it doesn't make us any differant
Y2kain2 3 years ago
we are all humans we sin and make mistakes and its women like that start horrid things about men and give women a bad name
so really this is just a great example of what is wrong with the world and differant skin colour relations
Y2kain2 3 years ago
Um, first of all, this was made in the early 90s.

not being funny but everything their saying in da vid is true 99.9% of the male celebs are with white women which is just appalling, don't get me wrong i'm all for interracial relationships as i have many cousins who are mixrace etc but over HALF of the black male population whether in the US or the UK(which is where i'm from) are with non black women majority white, what are we black women suppose to do go find us a white man??? i don't think so lol
sinerita 3 years ago 4
If you don't think so then when YOU end up alone and middle aged then you have no one to blame but yourself. Black women care WAY too much what other people think about them or their actions, meanwhile black women need to take a look around to see if everybody else isn't just carrying on doing whatever the hell THEY want to do!
