woww... i dont know if im ready to tackle a dino that size.. lol.. and to all people questioning bait, it kind of does matter where you live becuase of what theyre customed to eating. Ive lost a dino off sardine. And many catch them off roe, or grass/ghost shrimp...eel, or pile worm. goodluck. All this is common where i live
wen u are playin a sturgeon that size in a boat for over a hour you need a belt and the best bait to use is herring is the best bait to us and a little smelly jelly with the same sent never hurts.. we catch big sturgeon like this all the time in oregon on the willamette river
i Caught one that was 10 ft 5 inches out on the Columbia River By Astoria Oregon Last month the Fucker took 25 mins to pull in it was a fighter the whole way to the boat sadly had to throw back cause it was to big
@devinhester47 The sturgeon was caught on a golfball sized lump of salmon eggs whipped to the hook with bait elastic. I'm no expert on Sturgeon - just a holiday angler - so i couldn't accurately tell you the range of the white sturgeon. However from memory of my conversations with the guide Chris Gage i believe that in Canada and USA the Fraser and St Lawrence river systems are the places to try. Good luck if you get to have a go for them
@xxzipitxx I take it you never handled a sturgeon then. They have no bone structure so they cant support their own body weight. So when you land one on shore you have to release as quick as possible to not hurt the fish. And that was a big fish weighing over several hundred pounds .... if it thrashed real bad in that shallow of water it would do alot of damage to itself. The guide released properly in the conditions he had.
I went sturgeon fishing in Lillooet, I actually remeber being on that very sand beach where they caught it. got a 53 incher there, but got our bigger ones about a kilometre up stream.
Great fish. We catch em here all the time and they are very fun to catch. A fish that size will make your arm and back sore for a week lol trust me I would know.
Do you know anything about fishing at Kamloops? First week of August, is that a good time, anyone? Can you suggest a river? or Lake? I prefer lake, I do not have a boat.
that is a really nice fish but I doubt it is 700lbs it is probably about 400. My biggest fish was 8 foot 1inch and I caught it in chilliwack across from tne upper bowman's bar
@shadowrslayer . Hi there, i'm no expert so i suggest taking the advice of a guide on what ever river you are fishing. My beastie was caught on a golfball sized lump of frozen salmon eggs tied on the hook with bait elastic. This was my one and only sturgeon fishing trip so researching on guideing websites would probably give you more info than i can. Good luck with your trip, Brian
@shadowrslayer Another good bait is just a worm and a shiner/sucker minnow head. Thats what I caught my 57, 13, 39, and 43 inchers. My friend got a 59, 54, 55, 53, and a 60 incher on that bait.
The rod was a heavy duty sea/salmon trolling rod, the reel was a multiplier loaded with 130lb braid and the trace was 80lb mono with a 9/0 hook. We were fishing a massive slack out of the main flow in about 30 feet of water but still needed 18 ounces of lead to hold bottom. Bait was a golf ball size lump of salmon eggs tied to the hook. Suprisingly the fish only took 25 minutes to bring to the bank.
@FishingBrian dang normally it takes hours to get those behemoths to shore. of course this is a big fish, but it's a small sturgeon compared to what they normally are. around 15 to 20ft max, and over 1500lbs is no problem for a full grown sturgeon
Wow, great video. Man that look like fun, it must be awsome catching a monster strugeon like that one. I really have to go sturgeon fishing one these days. What kinds of rod and line of you using? Thanks for the great video.
thanks for releasing!!

Nice fish - but tail noosing a sturgeon like that is a terrible practice!
It can cause irreversible or even fatal damage to the fish.
A professional guide and charter company should know better.
