What are you playing at 2:25 to 2:30? I cant figure our for the life of me how to play that. I know its in the 4th and 3rd position gminor shapes but cant get that fast run like your getting. Any help?
@Zephyrwood Thank you. This guy was a little biased against Gibson's for some reason. Some of the greatest songs in rock history have been on a Les Paul or some Gibson. Imagine Sunshine of Your Love on a Strat or Crossroads. To this day when Clapton plays a Les Paul or a 335 he sounds like he did with Cream but on a Strat he sounds like it is a chore for him to solo. I don't know why he plays them like he does. Now he has the Gibson Les Paul beano reissue he has been on a Les Paul lately.
@Zephyrwood Fender doesn't suck ass....Both Gibson and Fender make very high quality instruments, but bottom line it comes down to personal preference as to playability and tone
@Stratomen88 All opinion, and nothing more. There no fact as to what guitar is better over the other. They're all different. So in the end, it comes down to taste.
Great tone what type of amp are you using, also I believe that a guitar player should master both Fenders and Gibsons they are so differnt tonally but they are still 6 strings babys.
@Stratomen88 I don't know about the 10 times better playability. I've never owned a Fender that felt comfortable to me and sold them all. My 2 Fender style guitars now are a Blade Texas Special (Strat style) and a G+L ASAT(Tele Style) that both have a12 " neck radius that feel more like a Gibson. Like the Fender tone just never liked that 7.25 or 9 " neck radius.
Well ,this Les Paul is 31 years old and the 335 is 30 years old. I don't want to take the chance on some drunk knocking one over or something like that on a gig. Besides after the work I put in that Epi it plays and sounds every bit as good as this old custom and is a lot easier on the shoulder.
Thanks so much Carl. I was digging hearing you play that Paul, sounded great.I wish I could have heard more clips of you and Ethan trading off some licks , you both are a couple of monster players.
No , The only thing about me that is Italian is my Wife Carmella ! LOL.I usually try to make one reply in the language of the persons country of origin via an on-line translator to make them feel at home, but sometimes the translator does not come across very well. Thanks Mike
I love this style of guitar solo. Dave Gilmour is one of my favorite guitarists. Have you checked out his acoustic "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" video performance on youtube? phenomenal! Great work Mike, you really can play!
Its awesome. It also has shades of Eric Clapton, Santana maybe too. If its 100% your own stuff, its great. BTW, what gear/settings did you use, if you don't mind sharing?
Thanks Ashwin , I don't know if any licks that anybody plays are 100 % there own but yes I just made this up as I went along. I was just playing into a Line 6 POD 2.0 on the modern high gain model that I tweaked to my liking into the mixer directly into the camera mic input. Mike
Excellent work over here! Glad i came by for a listen! Master of feel! I love it! Great sound/mix! Do you record direct? This drummer gives you a loud 5/5

Wow she's a singer... must be an 11 pounder? haha
I found that if you use a very wide strap, it makes lugging these things around a bit more bearable.
What pickups are in there
guitartodd 2 years ago
She is a Pig , heavy as a dead Horse but it does have tons-o sustain. The PU's are DiMarzio X2N's.
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, i know how heavy they are although the action is the BEST..i haven't come across any guitar with the action of a Custom LP.
I have a 1980 Custom (12 lbs in weight)
