I really like Heller more than Mercer. Mercer seemed like the average bruiting hero. I feel something for Heller. Every time he screams or yells, I just feel overly sorry for this man. He's lost everything and now only has revenge on his mind. That is what makes a damn good character. Making you feel something for them. :D

He wasn't some namless military pawn serving the army, who are all pawns and grunts in the Templar's and Blackwatch's game. Heller didn't even know prior to prototype 2 that something was going to change the lives of everyone forever, he was just a normal person, an average pawn, a nobody. Completely oblivious as to the juggernaut of destruction that coming.

Meh, that all depends on perspective. Mercer could easily just be some guy that happened to know a thing or two about weaponizing viruses, got hired by GenTek, became paranoid and got everyone killed (The official profile heavily implies that he was the security leak that caused Blackwatch to start hunting them), then got pissed and decided to screw over everyone on Earth when he wasn't smart enough to escape. And about the train station, mercer's body was going to get touched by blackwatch, it was inevitable, so the place of death is irrelevant. Alex's main problem was that he knew greene wasn't infected naturally, it is in the w.o.i. when he was yelling at mc mullen on his cell. And as I said earlier, escaping blackwatch as a mere human? Alex didn't even know who Greene was. All he knew about was the virus. Zeus was the one that eventually found out what Greene's connection to the virus was. And I never said he'd escape, but his escape plan was retarded. He knew that they were after him, yet he walked into what was basically a deathtrap. You said he knew that Greene wasn't infected naturally, meaning that he would have known who that was. He wasn't told anything about Greene.

He knew he was being followed, and he took the vial as insurance. He used Dana's journalistic skills and found out that the purge was coming, so he took the vial and ran. And yes, a train can be used to escape, but according to the memory, he went there when it was empty instead of during a busy hour.

And before you say there was no lockdown back then, ask yourself...would that even matter? Its Blackwatch bro, not the police, Blackwatch.

You do know that the lockdown wasn't initiated until AFTER Zeus awakened, right? Before then, Blackwatch just had to chase him. The city hadn't been blocked off from the rest of the world yet. And yes, it does matter. If they're willing to purge an entire operation over a security leak, you think they'd run around shooting people in public? And any non-dumbass would know that being somewhere public reduces the odds of someone shooting you to death.

They were armed and ready to take him out and if you think about who blackwatch is then you would know that these guys do not give a damn about raised questions in the media, because thats all it would be - raised questions. Apprehending mercer doesn't have to bee some major scene either. It should have been carried out just as any other arrest.

Exactly. Raised questions. Questions were the exact reason they were 'purging' the Blacklight project. People were starting to ask questions about Blackwatch and GenTek's operations. So they eventually would have caught Mercer, but his chance of survival would have gone up if he'd picked a smarter plan that 'run into the empty subway station'.

Yes people will record and raise questions but that sort of thing happens with any public arrest, a small price to pay compared to mercer escaping with a sample of blacklight.

@Thanatos606 And I know there was no lockdown prior to the outbreak but I was trying to inform you that it wouldn't matter as the police would be told to seal all the exits to the city in the same manner as the code red lockdown because if mercer escaped that would be reason for a code red. Police blocking traffic, sealing exits, you name it. But you want to know why any of that didn't happen? Its because mercer was being traced while he was using his cell, they knew where he was the whole time.

And Mercer wasn't shot down because he knew too much. He was killed because he was talking about it. Knowing the details wasn't the issue, but Mercer's personality (he was considered a liability) was one of the main contributing factors to the purge.

Also, the reason why Heller's family died of the virus was because of Alex Mercer and that was the initial cause of the DX-1118 C virus. Mercer was a cold emotionless killer, and that's why he is more cool than this Heller boy. Alex Is incarnated evilness and that's why he is stronger than Heller. Alex have normal name and he's not trying to be rough or angry. @Ballad2Grave Alex Mercer is a great character, and yes he looked and is SUPER badass, but they couldn't have ended the story with him, the antagonist, still around. I'm pretty sure they want to end it with things returning back to normal in manhattan and the world, and that simply can't happen with Mercer, the VIRUS still around. Thus they introduced Heller, someone to end it all, someone to be an ACTUAL hero, someone....to kill Alex Mercer.

Frankly I prefer his grunting compared to Alex who was just silent and annoying. Hadn't it been for the gameplay, I wouldn't have put with Alex or the whole story for that matter.
