Why is Windows Firewall terrible? I find it works well for me.

They don't design Avast/Spybot to increase your PC's performance, any performance gained is because some malware was removed.

Its best not to disable automatic updates since that might leave your PC open to security holes.

Perhaps creating a Schedule job that Enable WindowsUpdate service once a Month and one Schedule job two weeks later that Disable WindowsUpdate.

This way we dont need to run it manually !

Perhaps schedule a cleanup.bat that includes a defrag monthly or bi-monthly.

(Vista runs a million worthless Schedule jobs at all the wrong times. But it got me thinking of good jobs to improve XP instead)

well,okay then.The following steps are for Windows XP but im not sure if they work on Vista but try it out anyways.Okay first open up start menu and click on run.Then type in prefetch and when the window opens up delete everything inside.Then open up run again and type in %temp% and delete evrything.What you are deleting is just temporary internet files.Then go on start,all programs,accessories,system tools,disk defragmenter and disk clean up.Disk defragmenter might take hours.disk cleanup not.

Use Piriform Defraggler its another profram from ccleaner. I found a couple gigs more of fragmented files then with the windows defragger. Also if you use ccleaner make sure you update it to 2.0 or later so you can delete your index.dat files which aren't helpful at all.
