Bravo Alexander, this is one of the best live performance i ever heard of this difficult etude. it reveals not only technical skill but , far more, mature musicality and deep artistic sensibility.
this is such a beautifully musical performance...i feel that you can listen to this performance of the etude in the way you would listen to one of the nocturnes.
Sometimes I find the recordings of lets just say not so well known musicians (No offense) to be better than the great masters Richter, Cziffra, etc etc. I find your legato to be one of the finest, and that is exactly what we need in Chopin. He stressed legato more than the notes itself and I think you did a wonderful job doing what he did best. On musical aspects I can hear a clear and original well thought out interpretation. I wish you the best of luck in your career.
Absolutely wonderful interpretation.NOT jus t fast and loud. You are by far one of the great artists i have heard. And i have heard many. Allbest at this Holiday time.
I like how he finds the accents and melody n right hand.Good tempo .Making music not too brash . I wonder if I should not make my basses the driving element here. I try so many diff touches with this etude. thanks for posting this.
.Chopin was so smart arpeggio then a new way to play chromatic scales then just the most beautiful melody in e.He obviously wanted to make some points about thepiano, hands and music itsel.these etudes are like a philosophy of music withop.28.
You make this look so easy man. Great control! I have so much trouble with this etude. Interesting you performed this at the Cleveland 2001... I've been listening on the radio here to the 2009! hehe
dang man this is so smooth. this is so calm, especially in the begining. excellente job well done!!!! i love this interpitation. excelente sounding piano. diffenitly added to my favs! i acnt tell yo uhow much i love your legato and playing!!!
you know what i like about how you play this? you focus on its grandeur and the music itself, not just for showmanship or showing off tech. i personally like this interpretation.
is this a cravat? Never seen a pianist playiing with cravat, looks strange, somehow a contradiction to the emotionality of this piece.... apart from that good job
I actually agree with you about the tie. This video is from a performance in a piano competition, so most of the men were wearing suits and ties. Thanks for the comment!

I think the fingering in 0:46 until 0:56 looks very different in comparison to other videos but anyway good playing =)
