But yeah, I don't remember May ever saying things like that unless maybe she was is a contest or something? She also said she couldn't remember the voice quite right (she was just a bit higher than May's when she tried) and that she'd need to watch old tapes if she did it again, which would make sense since she doesn't play May anymore, but I guess I can't say for sure.

In the very first episode Ash said "leave her[Pikachu] alone" and in the episode where Ash battled Erika, Pikachu was sniffing perfume with Misty, but I think they changed it so Pikachu was a boy down the track as both times were really early episodes.
if Pikachu were a girl, wen they slightly changed pokemon to have gender differences, they wud have made male pikachu have dents in the tail so it was more likely that he was a girl.
also, in japan, he and piplup hae been proved males, jessie's yanmega is female.
they messed up alot in every episodes, leik using rachel for pika's voice and veronica having to audiction 4 times to get the job, then have to keep redubbing. she even redubbed flashbacks in 'gotta catch you later'.
