I dont understand these cars, if you live outside of the downtown area of a big city...they are totally useless. You can get a much more practical car that is still economical for the same price or less. And even if I lived in the downtown area of a big city, I would rather just walk, bike, or use busses/trollies when it rains!?
I don't really consider the Brabus edition cheap (in relative terms), especially when you consider the very minimal utility value. Honestly, I would much much rather get a MX-5, Cooper S, BMW 1 series, or even a slightly used S2000 for roughly the same price.
I'm not saying it's a bad car...I just don't personally understand the appeal, but if you like yours then thats cool.

I drove a friends the other day, not really a bad car for the price. Great for if you work and play not too far from your home, a lot more stable than you think. Driving on the freeway is interesting, didn't feel unsafe but the fact that it takes forever to hit 60, and passing another car is pretty hard with the 3 cylinder.
The performance is terrible in every respect. Slow accel, doesn't hold the road well (low g's and slalom speed). The braking distance is even bad for something this size. 122ft? There are full-size cars that brake in shorter distance!
well to be honest I've driven an old diesel benz that does 0-60 in 28 seconds when it was new according to a mercedes benz infomercial...
anyways maybe because they thought I was an old person or something traffic would slow down. on the other hand one time I had a honda accord which was faster than this and it was near impossible because nobody ever gave me room to get in I had to totally avoid the highways and fast roads in rush hours. Anyways I drove an old mercedes diesel 4 a year with 0-60 was 28.6 seconds I know what I'm talking about here. If you don't live where theres busy highways full of horrid drivers than its fine to be slow but if your too slow getting onto a busy highway it can cause accidents thats my point.
Anyways I don't car if I had the right of way in a accident I want to avoid that accident to begin with my dad got into an accident back in 1985 he was in the right away some idiot came fling into him no way to avoid he won the lawsuit he got his car paid for he got medical treatment but until he has knee pain from it and that was basically a minor accident I've been lucky enough to not be in a situation I wasn't able to avoid yet but i didn't drive my diesel on the dallas highway.

Yeah, this car is far short of stellar, but people buy it for it's easy maneuverability and great mpg, though similar can be had for a motorcycle in which you get performance. What astonishes me is that there are US cars that have similar performance numbers w/ NO advantages. That's stupid.

The passion coupe has the panoramic roof of the tC but NOT the cabrio (even the name suggests cabriolet!).
If the cabrio isn't a convertible then neither is the PT Cruiser Convertible (has similar rollbar in the rear) nor is the VW Cabrio.

then i guess you've never seen the american spec standard smart fortwo numbers. or the fiat panda, skoda roomster 1 liter diesel, toyota iq, etc. for that matter, they all go from 0-60 in 19 seconds, while the toyota does it in 14. there are many cars that do it even slower, but these are the ones that come to mind instantly.

Yeah, this car is far short of stellar, but people buy it for it's easy maneuverability and great mpg, though similar can be had for a motorcycle in which you get performance. What astonishes me is that there are US cars that have similar performance numbers w/ NO advantages. That's stupid.

It's true that the performance figures for the Smart Fourtwo are less than stellar, but you'd have to have driven, and worse parked in any major European city to understand as to why theyre so popular over there.
It's not exactly the car to wow the US market though is it..

Umm, I can run to 60 faster than that LOL. 122 feet from 60 to zero is good, but for such a small car, it should be 112 or less. Minus the performance of it, I like it, especially in Brabus form.
