  • Well i'm glad Ford didn't call it Bronco II EL

  • OH GOD!!!! FLASH BACKS OF CHILDHOOD!!!!

  • haha why didnt they call it the Bronco III?

  • These early Explorers were better than the late 90's version. No wonder Ford almost went bankrupt.

  • MotorWeek was a great show, I always enjoyed it.

  • I love her hair.

  • ford exploder

  • what's that lady's name.

  • @alau18 Lisa Barrow.

  • these models are the worst fords ever made. there soooo many problems with them.

  • @cola4598 True but they're still a great truck through my eyes xD

  • @naruto90123 ha, till you die. see? theres always a catch lol

  • @cola4598 idk minus the miles that went by, and how many transmissions would die I still love em :]

  • lol ranger bronco II explorer they are all the same. ford is the master of rebadging

  • Its the first generation Explorer not the Bronco 2.

  • looks kind of like mine

  • I used to drive my friends Explorer from this time period. Pretty solid. The miracle of American engineering though was the late 90's Explorers felt cheaper and drove worse than the late 80's explorer. My folks late 90's Explorer was the worst vehicle ever. The windshield wipers would spontaneously start when you went around a corner. No wonder they're all failing.

  • The Bronco II ended the year before the Explorer came out. 1991 was THE FIRST model year for the Ford Explorer. I have a 1991 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. Runs Great! Oh, and to the people arguing below me...there was a Ford Bronco II, Explorer package, but it was only a 2-Door.

  • Like the box on wheels that you drive performs any better?

  • My car will kick this cars ass and leave it begging on the side of the road for mercy. Beware!

  • @duncan36 theres no such thing as a "late 80s" explorer. They dubuted in 1990 as a 1991 model

  • Yeah note this was in 1989 Ford hadn't quite decided yet what it would be called; "Explorer" was chosen some time after this video aired.

  • During development of the Explorer, it was simply referred to as the Bronco II "Explorer Package"

You have to understand that the first generation of Explorer was little more than an upgraded and improved Bronco II chassis with a different body.

  • i know that

  • what? the Explorer was basically a Bronco 2

  • Kind of. The original Bronco was made to rival the Chevy k5 Blazer and GMC k5 Jimmy, and production ended to to "sale fail". The Bronco 2 was a short competitor for the S10 Blazer and Jimmy, and was later replaced by the explorer. If you notice, all competitors (Jeep Cherokee XJ, S10 Blazer/GMC Jimmy, For Explorer) all had a similar, and popular, "square" physical appearance.

  • No. the Explorer is a redesigned Bronco II, Ford decided to change the name at the last minute. Look it up.

  • very nice video heard of this before but never seen it
