Emotional ties are what sell products... for those of us who hate the idea and overall current popular cultural references of Louis Vuitton this ad has probably made us re-evaluate our stance... I am a branding professional and it certainly has for me... I saw this ad for the first time and was awestruck.
DOW had a similar success with the "the human element" campaign. It draws you in and makes you want to be there...

This is what they call a "brand play" in the advertising business. It's not about selling a product. It's about creating emotion. It's aiming to create an emotional connection.
Maybe we're all to oversaturated with marketing messages to get this kind of commercial. It think the best way to view is not to view it as an add. Take it at face value. You either like it or don't. I am happy to see something creative on TV that does not try to cram product down my throat.
