  • Is it ok that I peed my pants while watching this?

  • The only problem with this is finding a quartet that can play it...especially lead bone. I just love the sound...shit is amazing.

  • Man, David Taylor is fucking amazing...you can hear him so clearly and he is playing directly towards the floor.

  • Listne to that bass trombone... <3

  • hahahaha i love the last note the bass trombonists plays!! :)

  • God loves the bass trombone!

  • Yea! Bass Trombone!!! Hell Yea!

  • ohh man this is just awesomeee, I love trombonesss

  • Hay Beavis, I think I have a tromboner!

  • Ur a perv

  • anybody who disses these sliphornmasters is loathesomely schmucky

  • Awesome music. I only wish they had better better horn position.

  • all bass trombone players rock including myself

  • That was absolutely awesome! The performers and music are outstanding!

Also, in the title, it says this even was held in New Orleans. Is that Loyola University's concert hall?

  • Pugh and Nakagawa are the most ridiculous trombones alive.

  • Nice! Trombones own you all >:D

  • wooo.

    tromboners rule.

  • great... i play trombone 2...

im in music high school with bass trombone..! can't wait for class to begin:)

  • why is it us bass trombone players hoover while playing??!!

  • the bass player has a horrible habbit

  • Call back when you can play like Dave Taylor.

  • doesn't matter... Dave Taylor is ridiculous... he can play in whatever way suits him best!

  • Dance Bass trombone player DANCE!!!!!!!!

  • I've played the Trombone for 6 years. These guys are awesome. The only thing that bothers me is their posture... They need to hold 'em up! But they still rock.

  • thats awesome. i am working my way into a brass quartet at the moment. hopefully we will have videos up to watch.

  • dang this is awesome i wish i could play my trombone that good!

  • Man! This sounds great! This must have taken a whole lot of work to fit together. I like the flutter tonguing. Also the piece is really cool. Thanks so much for posting--I've enjoyed listening!

  • how nice i playtrombone

  • cool im in begginer band at my school and i play trombone. we r now starting on our concert music

  • well, good luck in concert waylanrocks :) and really nice video :o gbone

  • this proves that trombone is the voice of god. all other instruments were created for backup

  • true dat!!! true dat!!! TROMBONISTS ROCK!!!! amen! :P

  • Yes they do, but for the fact that if your in the band and out of all the instruments there..yours is the most perverted, then thats a problem :[

But any who.....they kick ass :3

  • yeah!!!!!! we aint get no respect!

  • i agree with you there man i play trombone. it is the most awesome instrument ever if you know how to play it right

  • its defiantly the most challenging because on a trumpet or euphonium, you can push a button and the sound comes out. but on a trombone if you don't get the slide positions exactly right, it sounds mushy. trombone defiantly the greatest instrument

  • I agree

  • wow nice, i play trombone

  • I am longing for some modern 4 part harmony in the midle ranges. major seventh, augmented, halfdiminished or a 7/6 close knitted.

Taj Mahal had 4 tubas in 1968 playing soft round chords , a Dsus 9 to D9

  • miraculous...I love this

  • I love this!

  • supersupersuper

  • this is such an inspiration to me

    :]

    thank you :D

  • AWSOME!

  • awesome love it i play trombone and this is cool

    i only play

    A Bb C D Eb F G

  • gotta start somewhere :)

  • great!

  • nice!

  • I have to say I am astonished.

  • For some reason my butt lipps got itchy after listening to this wonderful piece.

That ever happen to anybody here after they listen to trombones?

  • lol my lips got itchy as I was reading your comment hahahah

  • No, but, uh, , thanks for sharing.

  • melodious tooting. I play trombone so I can kid.

  • Does Jim Pugh also play euphonium?

  • This is an amazing piece played by four amazing trombonists. I can't stop listening to it.

  • Very good, i just dont like how the bass and 2nd's stands are so low, i could never play like that standing, my stand has to be at a reasonable height.

  • Saudade!!!

  • I must say that I'm really impressed. I have an obvious bias, being a trombonist, but I really like this. The trombone seems to be losing it's prominence since it debuted, but this really shows that they're fully capable of making great music.

  • man i would love to see these guys in person!

  • To my mind trombones really shine when they're used as blending instruments. Put a few of them together and the effect is a very textured sound which can at its best sound kinda like this. Rock on.

  • Very Technical. Sounds good and messy at the same time. But when you are that good, you just tend to show off just like that ;-)

  • o these guys are amazing...... I just started playing the trombone and they are so good.

  • No, he doesn't have problems, he is david taylor. He's the most eccentric bass trombonist I've ever seen and most influential. He chooses to be different.

  • no his stand is just really low. they probably thought it would be fine since he's abit short. but it could just be he's got that bad habit of looking down and when u got to 6t position i imagine u can't keep facing down so he leans back a bit.

But i must stay it doesn't make him look that great... :\

  • No lol. To compliment the other three they made him play toward the ground so that his sound won't project past the melody.

  • Hes a bass trombone, whats he need to go to 6th or 7th for? thats what a double is for. lol. and yes, its so his sound doesnt consume the other three. Think about why a tuba points upwards and not front. its to overlap the ensemble, not punch the audience in the face and consume the ensemble. just food for thought.

  • There's plenty of reason to go to 6th or 7th, the Double is meant to help with some of it, not remove having to go to 6 or 7 in general. As for Dave Taylor facing downwards, he always does that. Could be he has a back problem, could be he never developed good posture, could even be embouchure. But, it's David Taylor. I'm not going to complain. ;)

  • Ya that makes a lot more sense. I was just guessing, thx.

  • Oh and he does have to go to 6th and 7th. Its for like REALLY low notes that u need to go to 6/7 and us the trigger.

  • TROMEBONES RULE! I want to go 2 a Trombone Fesival one day!

  • LOLL

  • this isn't funny atall.

  • I can play better btw :) I like trombone

  • Yeah, I highley doubt that.

  • TROMBONE = BEST INTRUMENT ALIVE

  • you got that right

  • trombone is super magic things....

    Pablo

  • yay! agree

  • woot! right on!

  • If you all got anymore videos please post away....us trombone players need some encouraging, too. Nothin' feels better than listening to good intonation and watching consistent slide technique.

  • cool

  • dave taylor is quite possibly the scariest dude i've ever seen in my life - especially when he plays his basstrombone.

  • Cool....real cool

  • yea clarity could have been better but it may be due the the camera. i've recorded a perfomance that sounded amazing only to listen to a boomy recording even off a decent dv camera.

  • coudl u guys do fÜr Ellis?

  • The trombonists are really great but I think there's a little bit too much in the end of the first minute and at another place. Becoming only a big noise.

  • Great!!

  • question for the bass bone player: what are you plying on, mouthpiece and horn?

  • It's a Edwards dependant valve section, dual bore light weight slide.

  • as a fellow trombonist...major props. you make me miss my high school band days....ahh the memories...wouldnt trade em for the world.

  • Hmm the bass player didnt keep his horn up atall it kinda annoyed me.

  • When you're David Taylor you're allowed to do that.

  • you sound awsome

  • this is nice

  • man this is awesome!! i play the bass bone but im nothing like them...close tho *wink, wink* :D

  • the cd with this song on it i mean.

  • The CD isn't available yet --- these pieces are recorded, but still have to be mastered...

  • Does anyone know the name of the CD if they've released one? I'm really impressed by dave taylor.

  • haha that was sweet!! pretty inspiring for my trombone quartet :)

  • dude, that piece was sick...

  • wow, awesome!!!

the guy on the far right didnt keep his horn up like the others

  • What? Is this a posture test? Dude, listen to his amazing bass trombone chops! For all I care he could be standing on his head. He totally rocks.

  • Dave! Good to hear you again....you are my hero!

  • This is absolutely ridiculous! If anyone knew how freakin hard this piece was, these guys would all be millionaires. The lead part and bass bone part are murder!

  • This is a fantastic video of an excellent ensemble. The bass bonist is superb.

  • Dave is the Man!
