I am glad there are no farms in my neighborhood. A pond full of manure would stink from a half mile away. Farming is a dangerous job I know from experience. Farmer left it in gear and stepped out. Last mistake he ever made.
Not until you replace the stupide. When they dug the pit good time build a rock parking pad. Good time to put a 12” tree as barricaded. good time to put in a permanent suction tube.
1:18 this is the key agent, i don't want to push away the other safety measures, but i think this is the only real reason, why sth like that can happen, without the other safety measures, you can in worse case slide into the shit pond
why exactly did he want to get out with the wheels spinning I wonder? I've done plenty of dangerous things around farm machinery but there is always a moment where you think 'this isn't that safe but is it safe enough? yes' Guess he never did. we'll never know.
Lousy audio and I am not that sure about the time line. (You mix before and after images in the time stream as you are describing the problem) Other than that, nice work.
my friend got his hand slowly crushed by the machine you use to shape metal plates with (no idea what it's called.i'm norwegian) while we were doing some tasks at school. he had to amputate. later he almost killed himself when he stuck some clothing in the metal lathe, and there have been many times where i'd just have to stop him (or watch him hurt himself)
his accidents were caused by stupidity and not watching what he was doing. you can't expect deadly machinery to accept your negligence
@WunderHuse At my school, we have a shop teacher who is very strict with safety, and the slackers and idiots of the school don't like him. He was hurt himself, so he doesn't want it to happen to us. He is one of my favourite teachers, by the way.
@WunderHuse its called a press brake (or just press - or just brake) and DAMN!! i use those often and they still sketch me out. an employee at my work just got his thumbnail removed by it... ouch. safety first!! and how the fuck did i get here? started at a bike video...

Good few idiot died in the WTC few years ago! That was hilarious! People jump trugh windos and fall 10 or more meters! Lets find some vids! Funny!! You fu**ers!!!
Admittedly, I don"t know the finer points of farm tractors, but it's possible to leave it in gear and running and exit the cab? Doesn't strike me as a good idea.
i think he did put it in park, because a) he had moment to get out the cab and b) the split secound were be disengaged the cluch would have made it roll back more
wow, i thought that maybe a combination of the soft wet mud embankment combined with tire with huge tread the farmer mightve gotten pulled through with just maybe a broken nose and friction burns. Maybe he died from being hurt and thrown into the manure and drowned, but the producers of the video wanted to spare the farmers dignity.
One more reason to end industrialized farming. The supposed "efficiency" doesn't cut it anymore. We have the capabilities to grow food completely without soil, and organically. Using a city's own supply, it could self-sustain its own food supply. No tractor accidents, no pesticides or chemicals, no GMOs.
@SaltineCrackaAss This happens a lot more than people would like to admit. In every industry. Its worse in factories from people getting killed by forklifts. There are safety guide lines for a reason. A lot of people die because they don't take their jobs seriously. Don't mix personal with business. If you wanna joke around, do it at home!
same thing happened to me but not in a pond my friend was backin up the tractor with the spreader an i was beside directin him well stupid me got behind an couldnt see me well i got pinned between the fence that was there luckily he stopped before anything else happened its easy to get in an accident like this especially on a farm anything can happen ive had alot of close calls
I got ran over by my racing mower when I was trying to stop it, I didn't have no serious injuries (cracked wrist, Bruised leg and back, and alot of cuts) and that alone was enough to make me be REAL cautious around it. Thank god it didn't have a deck
There are comments here about what this poor sod didn't do or did wrong. It's easy to sit in front of your computer and be so bloody clever but we all do wrong or stupid things sometimes. Usually we get away with it but this guy paid the ultimate price. As studpuppy69 says these films are made to get people to think before they act and to point out things that may not have been thought of, even if they're obvious to some, assuming you're not too smart-arse or big-headed to watch them.
As a kid on my grandfather's farm, neighboring farmer had tractor with steel spiked wheels and coat tail caught spikes and dragged him under wheel after getting stuck in mud. They found tractor still running stuck in mud and not much left of farmer. Read in paper roll bars and seat belts are being installed on tractors for tip overs. Good deal. Farm now baseball field and tennis courts at Rider College but it was the best life I had as a kid growing up.
I hope this isn't my tax dollars at work, "studying" this terrible accident. Here is all the "investigation" one needs: DON'T GET OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE. If there is power to the wheels, and/or the brakes are not applied, you have no business exiting the vehicle.
yes lets look at what happend. clearly the guy wasnt trained on what to do. he was probably panincing out of his mind and didnt know what he was doing. how can you put brakes on something that brakes couldnt stop in that scinario any was... these safety people that work for the government think they know everything just because a piece of paper tells them they are
@Johnfreemanyells that is old and not funny...and um...yeah...when tractors usually hit you they run over you...you said it all wrong there bud...which made it more retarded
@fosterbrotherlj yeah but maybe here it was mistake, tractor was already underweight compared to this tank, and when u put 2 extra wheels, weight on the back of the tractor is half less
im so angry someone who works on a farm did something a city slicker would know not to do. why didnt he EMPTY the 4500 gallon tank??? pull it out of the bog while it weighs nearly nothing...then fill it again with a barrier in place?

@PonyPower71 Apparently, if this guy can do it another idiot can do the same damn thing. These videos are EDUCATIONAL, they teach PREVENTION. Too many people think it can't happen to them, it can and will if you act like a fool. The video is spreading a message, if you don't get it watch it again. Take things a little more seriously this is not a game.
@PonyPower71 it is common for a tractor driver to step out of the vehicle while it is still moving if it is going very slow. he probably didnt think about it, he just acted upon instinct.
@rweiii1 Common maybe, but that does not make it any smarter unfortunately... if you always knew when you would stumble or slip, would you stumble or slip, ever?
Machines like this are very unforgiving and if you make a mistake it could mean your life. A guy was crushed by a forklift where I work and it happened because of carelessness, he didn't set the park brake before getting off the machine. So, if you operate a forklift don't neglect to use the brake even if it's in gear with the engine off.
no offense to the family in any way, but if he got out of the tractor while it was still in gear he proly shouldnt have been running farm equipment. it is common sense.
Bullshit ur gonna put the tractor in neutral then set the parking brake before exiting the tractor, if ur rolling backwards into a manure pond ur gonna throw ur ass outta the thing,
That's very sad. This dude was out earning a living. Then as a tribute this SAFETY dude talks about preventative measures. It's an accident. They happen. How much tax dollars do we pay for SAFETY guy? SAFETY guys are always retro. They can never think on how to prevent accidents. The accident happens and then they brainstorm and sometimes get a good idea. Right or wrong the SAFETY guy gets paid.
you are talking about farmers we dont think safe we think time and money. saftey costs time and money and the way thing are it will be like this for many years to come
Darwin award. Operating farm machinery out of spec. Either use a bigger tractor or put brakes on the trailer. Oh, and don't get out while the tractor is still in gear.
@genjishikibu obviously he jumped out thinking he was going to get pulled in with the spreader. That's why they call them accidents. Bad shit happens when people react instead of think. Could happen to anyone.
unfortunatly he probley did, being dragged under tractor back wheels into a well they have made aint going to be a pretty sight let alone a fast death plus the fact he wont have been found untill he,s missed wich can be a while when your on a job like that. proper training the key here and no muppets!
@chaosad09 heh you can bet he suffered being dragged from his feet to his head under a set of spinning wheels. just hope it was quick cause it surely wasnt painless.
so what the hell does a hygiene officer have to do with anything? Did he not shower before exiting the tractor? Poor guy must have been an awful way to go!!
Im wondering how the wheels were still turning if the driver was not in the cab to drive it. I dont know anything about tractors, can someone explain?
All tractors have a hand throttle. bit like cruise control on a car. pull the hand throttle at say 2500 rpm for operating machinary and the tractor will stay at that rpm until the hand throttle is pushed back. so a tractor will continue to move if the operator jumped out.
I live on a farm in Alberta (which is beside bc) and this acident could easily been avoided one he should of had a barrier and should have applied the brakes
no i think many people have miss understood this video, when your sucking up slurry you sit in the tractor and wait, you go and stand at the back tire and look at the hose to make sure everything is ok. As the tanker fills it starts to out way the tractor then the tractor rolls back and slides in, when this started happening the farmer obiviously got caught between the tire and the pond and he did not have a enough time to react or think and got crushed!
This is a great video

purely operator error. take the fucker out of gear. you never get out of a running machine that is in gear. and fix the damn audio on the right side.

spose it just kept running until someone turned it off so dug itself into a bit of a rut.

Darwin award. Operating farm machinery out of spec. Either use a bigger tractor or put brakes on the trailer. Oh, and don't get out while the tractor is still in gear.

@genjishikibu i know right what a dumb ass
MrBongking420 1 year ago 2
@genjishikibu obviously he jumped out thinking he was going to get pulled in with the spreader. That's why they call them accidents. Bad shit happens when people react instead of think. Could happen to anyone.

what a fucked up way to die. i hope he didnt suffer. :(
chaosad09 1 year ago 3
unfortunatly he probley did, being dragged under tractor back wheels into a well they have made aint going to be a pretty sight let alone a fast death plus the fact he wont have been found untill he,s missed wich can be a while when your on a job like that. proper training the key here and no muppets!
ajs222222 1 year ago
@ajs222222 Propoer training r u serious I like to call it common sense
YURSTEPDADDY 1 year ago
@chaosad09 heh you can bet he suffered being dragged from his feet to his head under a set of spinning wheels. just hope it was quick cause it surely wasnt painless.

stupid fucking video
shawnyboie 2 years ago
It's not a stupid video, it's the driver of the tractor who's stupid.

If the tractor was slidding BACKWARDS how did he get caught in FRONT of the REAR tire?
unless when he got out of the cab he slipped and fell.
Pure de ol' accident i belive. could have been avoided yes, but shit happens not all of us come out so lucky.
poor guy.
I feel sorry for his family.

so what the hell does a hygiene officer have to do with anything? Did he not shower before exiting the tractor? Poor guy must have been an awful way to go!!
smokum0 2 years ago 2
Im wondering how the wheels were still turning if the driver was not in the cab to drive it. I dont know anything about tractors, can someone explain?
Agnostostheos 2 years ago
most of them are like lawnmovers.. let of the clutch and they go.. alot of them has a throttle lever
highrisestunter 2 years ago
All tractors have a hand throttle. bit like cruise control on a car. pull the hand throttle at say 2500 rpm for operating machinary and the tractor will stay at that rpm until the hand throttle is pushed back. so a tractor will continue to move if the operator jumped out.

BORINGEST VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
strongboyfahad52 2 years ago
no i think many people have miss understood this video, when your sucking up slurry you sit in the tractor and wait, you go and stand at the back tire and look at the hose to make sure everything is ok. As the tanker fills it starts to out way the tractor then the tractor rolls back and slides in, when this started happening the farmer obiviously got caught between the tire and the pond and he did not have a enough time to react or think and got crushed!
