  • i got one thanks to you......what games do i play on it now

  • I'm a day younger than the U.S. Sega Saturn

  • Actually I think the planet was named after the Roman god, Saturn, father of Jupiter (or zeus' dad in Greek mythology)

  • I'm going to get one to play Resident Evil and Sonic Jam! XD

  • @LinkNinjaX Sonic Jam is pure win, I'm playing it right now actually lol

  • @itatefan101 What?

  • Same here... I had a sega mega drive/genesis but when the satin console was out I playing ps1

  • This guy is a dag.

  • It's got this slot here and we will be putting something in there - Mark the CGR guy

  • @Killjoy2797 That's pretty dirty, huh ;-D

  • Hey wait, why did you buy a Play Station?

  • Sega Saturn.. Go SEGA! GO!

  • First dual core console, so sad no one were really able to use it's full potential =(

  • Now Segata Sanshiro won't destroy you.

  • You can't have that many consoles when you're A FUCKING FETUS!

  • But will it play Crysis?!

  • @oldkidsjonge can your mom blow a horse?

  • I got one of theese today with SEGA Rally!

  • Guard dog on the Saturn. Hell yeah. You don't be lettin' those noob playstation owners near the Saturn. They can't handle the awesome!

  • i saw a video of a ps1 eating a saturn

  • @uwright22 no, that was a Mars it was eating

  • I'm starting to really hate Mark. He's always giving me the urge to blow lots of money on stuff I don't need lol

  • @Theriot6592 he got me to buy a dreamcast

  • I just bought one. I wasn't impressed. Games play very slow. Almost like it's over burdened by games it was designed to play. Save your money buy a Dreamcast.

  • @dreadcogs Come on it's not that bad. Which games are playing slow? The Saturn is best for 2d games, but there are some decent 3d games for the Sat.

  • Saturn rules

  • I don't see why people bash this guy, because Mark is like the video game God! He is modest, and appreciates all video games unlike some fagots that have left comments and voted this down. Why people. FUCKIN WHY?

  • @naptimewithturtles2 People bash him? I was completely unaware. But I like your comment on how he really appreciates everything.

  • @naptimewithturtles2 haters gonna hate

  • Why the fuck are Verizon ads having a Mexican in a tight spandex suit?

  • 11 people are Nintendo fans

  • The Saturn does look fucking awesome.

  • another EPIC video

  • sega saturn was also playable on pc with daimond 3d edge on pentium 1. only the disc where called sega pc

  • Is the Saturn as dense and the Dreamcast?

I notice in comparison of the Genesis on the Dreamcast, the Dreamcast is heavy for it's size. It's even heavy to the N64 and PS2, if the Saturn is bigger is it heavier?

  • excellent

  • Stella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GamesGoat the first pads of psx were with no analog sticks.when n64 was released and sony saw that pad then they created a psx pad with 2 analog pads and vibration.the sticks could also be pressed.it was released in 1998 named as dual shock and it was very heavy.also u could buy it alone or with a pack with ape escape.

  • @GamesGoat The dualshock controller didnt come out until 1998

  • nice cgr hd i got saturn 1996 model but when i got it home it diden t start up so i had give it back i took me 3 months befoe a got a new used saturn 1995 model in 1999

  • @GamesGoat

The original ps1 controllor has no analogs and no vibration. Sony introduced both later on a new controller.

  • Thumbs up for Boxxee Box.

    Make Money - money!

  • Try Sonic R And Sonic Jam

  • Personally, I like the model 1 better. It's a bit more pretty.

  • FFS STOP WHATEVER YOU DOING AND GET THE REAL CONTROLLER

  • Ive got a sega saturn and i can tell you it feels well built

  • that's the weirdest Saturn controller I've ever seen...

  • @KingDavid73 It was the controller that came with the very first batch of Saturns before they release a smoother smaller version.

  • if the sega saturn had one more select/start button then it would ''almoste'' compete with the PS1

  • I like the sega genesis better

  • again, totally share your enthusiasm. my saturn is the greatest thing ive ever owned. back in the day when i used to collect older consoles, the saturn was just one i never got. picked one up last week and im in love with it

  • hey you have the snake game!!

  • YOU ARE AWESOME! YOU SHOULD BE ON TV!

  • it would have been awesome if the Sega Saturn could play Sega CD games

  • the textured-finish on your disc door is different than mine, though I have a model 2 as well. But who cares, I love the Saturn! I never owned one as a kid growing up, so I'm happy I finally have one!

  • Im selling my PlayStation to buy one of these tonight :D

  • @mardfet Lucky.

  • that little door near the disk thingy, whats it for? i would like to know

  • @simplyxwilliam Top Slot is for the Memory Card/Memeory Expansion/Import Cartridge Slot though you should be able to buy all 3 in one

  • @jr2nd import cartrige? is it like you can play japanese sega saturn games?

  • @simplyxwilliam sorry import cartridge lol and yes it allows you to play if like me from the UK to play US,Jap games on my Pal Saturn best investment i ever made for the Saturn

  • @jr2nd so will it play japanese sega saturn disk games?

  • @simplyxwilliam i just said it does, for you from the US it'll allow you to play UK(or any 'PAL' games), Jap games

  • @jr2nd ok thanks, the first time, i didn't understand at all

  • I sill have my Saturn after 10 friggen years. The one that have now is actually my second one. My first Saturn was actually given to me by one of my old bosses from when I worked at Blockbuster Video. It was a demo unit that they were going to throw away but they were cool enough to let me have it instead. It worked great until a thunderstorm killed it and a VCR. Afterwards, I went to Wal-Mart and they had a few left for $99. I bought it and it's run fine ever since.

  • @Masterchickens how did a thunderstorm kill it and the VCR?

  • @allanbrito123 i think lightning struck his house, and gave the saturn more power than it ever wanted. r.i.p. saturn :'-(

  • thanks for adoptying our children!!!!

  • my dad still got the sega saturn :)

  • Lol your dog wants to play on the sega Saturn at the end

  • @TheMkBroadcast who wouldn't wanna play sega saturn even... lord karnage :)

  • I want a Sega Saturn :(

  • you have a cute puppy

  • Oh goody. The Sega Saturn gave Zynga the idea for Farmville.

  • I saw a Saturn at the local Goodwill.

    Can't believe I didn't get it.

  • sega saturn shiro!!! translation: you must play sega saturn!!!

  • Needs moar Segata Sanshiro

  • My Sega Saturn Kicks ASS!

  • I m getting a Sega Saturn for the first time because my story wen't just like yours playing MegaDrive first then buying a Playstation :P

  • i use to have one

  • i just purchased an action replay. and it doesn't work. i cleaned the cart and it still won't work. any suggestions anyone?

  • "Harvesting" bodies? :D

  • You have the nasty controller! Get the Jap one!

  • @DopeteK there the same but they are different coulers

  • @1andrewman1 Come on now, don't tell me that. I know what I am talking about. The Jap one is NOT the same. I owned many SS consoles and many controllers for my multi tap. They are NOT the same and looking at the videos on the right you can see this is true.

  • i hate emulatars

  • <3

I want a Saturn; I bought a N64 last year and I should have bought a Saturn being that I have a Wii now. But I'm buying a Dreamcast so I'll wait a few years.

    The Saturn is so under-rated.

  • @TheUselessGamer dude the wii isnt gonna get all the n64 games, like the rare games (conkers bad fur day, bajo toie and kazzoie, goldeneye, etc) the n64 is one of the best consoles ever made dont be dissin it

  • @sonic0shadow

You're obviously the "ar-tard" because the Sega Saturn came out in 1995 idiot. The Dreamcast came out in 1999 in the US.

  • @NintendoFreak888 That was a typo, my bad. I meant to say saturn came first. He called the Dreamcast its younger brother.

  • @sonic0shadow

Well, technically it is its younger brother because it came later. The saturn is 15 years old. The Dreamcast is 10 and a half years old.

  • @NintendoFreak888 I took it has him saying it was the predecessor.

  • honest mistake I guess

  • @NintendoFreak888 no it was 1994, thats what my bios says on my saturn, check wiki.

  • @oldschoolages

It came out in 1994 in Japan. The dreamcast came out in 1998 in Japan. I was stating the NA release dates.

  • @NintendoFreak888 hahaha isnt ar-tard from south park?

  • @NintendoFreak888 lol did someone honestly call you an ar-tard? damn i haven't used that term since second grade.

  • @NintendoFreak888 dude he fuckin said it came out in 1995 look at the video before you post dumb comments

  • @ShortbusFrogsplash way to reply to a year-old comment.

  • @lookatmeanimator i call it as i see it

  • @lookatmeanimator i call it as i see it :)

  • haha- srsly dude?? change ur name...u are NO Sega fan... Saturn came out 4 years earlier.

  • Where i live there is a Sega Saturn for about 4000 HUF (20$) with 13 games, cables, 2 controllers and a steering wheel! I'm gonna buy it!

  • the emulator for the sega saturn isnt as great as the console itself

  • @Kurugen It's notoriusly hard to emulate, which is good, it gives reason for us to buy the console

  • @nikirfan Oh yeah i agree. I have a sega saturn and mostly play Capcom fighters on it. I dont like the way the SNK fighters seem to play on it.

  • @Kurugen SSF is basically a flawless emulator. It runs at full speed and the sound and graphics are spot on. I don't think compatibility is 100% as of yet but all of the titles people would actually want to play as far as I know work. The video is what really sucks, it looks great windowed and isn't blurred, but doesn't take up the entire screen. Full screen has a black border and a disgusting blur filter...So windowed is the way to go. But playing on the console is always better.

  • @Kurugen there is not emulator nearly as good as the console itselves

  • @Kurugen That can go for pretty much any game console in existance,as well.

  • @Kurugen there is no emulator as great as the own console

  • @Kenzo215 Saturn Emulation sucks.

  • @Kenzo215 because a its like saying you have a ferrari, when you only have a steering wheel

  • I really want to buy a saturn now... there are some awesome games out there for it

damn, If i only had money

  • lol i love how he sounds depressed when he says how he got the Playstation instead.

  • radiant silvergun costs 10x more than sega saturn ?? watch my movies :]

  • I loved the Dreamcast!

  • i was a spoil kid so i had both saturn and ps1 so i have to say i played with the saturn more especially because of xmen vs street fighter

  • I liked my saturn but then it broke on me D:

  • Sega of Japan hurt the Saturn by choosing an obsolete design that was expensive to manufacture, but Sega of America destroyed the Saturn by alienating the largest venders, such as Wal-Mart and Kaybee, and also by refusing to release the popular shooters and RPGs from Japan. The president of Sega of America said Americans would not buy RPGs....

  • I'd say to the guy, "BS, look at Final Fanatsy, which tend to make the best selling list every release."

What really hurt the saturn was the difficulty in programming for the system. The Saturn used two processors, but everyone knew how to do only one so 3rd Party games tended to look worse then the 1st party game. If Sega didnt do the saturn like that, then it would have been easier to program for and could have possibly outsold the PlayStation.

  • wasn't astal an rpg?

  • No. Astal is a platform game.

  • I brother bought this and the dreamcast

  • I skipped over the satan and went for the dreamcast.

  • the satan? oO

  • lol! saturn I mean saturn.

  • XD that was so damn hilarious! xD

  • i had a playstation back in the day but now i wish i had a saturn.

  • @djmick90 The saturn failed man

  • i don't consider the saturn a failure it just didnt make the numbers because sega pulled support for the saturn to soon in America, but the saturn continued to sell well in Europe and Japan. Now consoles like the 3do, and jaguar were failures. The saturn was a very underrated and under appreciated console. Do some research first before you talk shit about sega k.

  • its just his opinion...the playstation isnt the only good console -_-

  • nice

  • I did the same thing with playing genesis and then buyiing the playstation. I just got a saturn a little over a week ago. It's awesome!

  • @kuntgames616 i done the same back in the day, i feel it's about time i got a saturn too, i hear sonic for the saturn was seriously awesome

  • my saturn broke ._.

  • MY controller is busted ._.

  • why did SEGA move the logo to the top face of the saturn? It leaves the front bland in a way....

  • Comment removed

  • Ive watched 219reviews Hooray

    Love Nintendo,Atari,and maybe Sonic,

  • i just got a saturn and an nes for 8 bucks

  • fuck, i regret giving away my sega saturn to my nephew, maybe i can ask for it back...

  • I only had the Genisis...

  • Ah, it brings back fond memories! I was lucky enough to have one bought for me when I was a kid (about 11 years old) - it was utterly amazing back then.

It's such a shame that the once perfectly molded to my hands pad has become far too small - in adulthood I developed massive spade hands so I have real trouble playing on it now :(

Still, great console! Many, many fond memories of my Saturn :) Hope you enjoy it!

  • Have you noticed this channel is called Classic Game Room.

If you want to watch present reviews go to another channel.

  • fuck u u dick head old gaming was the best u bastard

  • @juhotheonehanded

seriously, just stfu. did you happen to notice that this show is called CLASSIC game room? you dickhead...

  • @juhotheonehanded

Are you like 6 years old?

  • no im juho the one handedcause i have only one hand and juho is my name.i just didnt have hand when i born.and im 14

  • can you play the 32X games on it?

  • No you can't

  • then what's the cartridge in the back for?

  • Memory carts

  • RAM Carts. Some games (mostly 2D fighter arcade ports) needed more RAM than the Saturn had, so cartridges with additional RAM were made.

You could also get import carts and the Sega NetLink,

  • Will imported Japanese games like Thunderforce or Radiant Silvergun run on the european Saturn? Will NTSC-J game run on PAL console?

  • If you get your Saturn modchipped, Itll run games off of CD-r's. The way to run Import games is to have the Action Replay 4 in1 cartridge. Ive got both so I can run JP and PAL games on CD-R.

  • What is the Action Replay cartridge? Is it expensive? I have to have modchip and this cartridge both to run import japanese games? Or just the cartridge?

  • To run Store bought Imports, you need the Action Replay 4 in 1 cartridge. To run burnt games on CD-R, you need a modchip. To run Burnt Imports off of a CD-R, you need both. But if you just want to play regular Imports all you need is the Action Replay 4 in 1 cartridge like in the video. You can find it on ebay sometimes and on Amazon.

  • The modchip allows you to play backups and/or imports.

The Action Replay cartridge allows you to play imports and acts as a memory card. It costs about 20 bucks, and it's way better than potentially damaging your console with a modchip.

  • Actually, the Saturn modchip doesn't let you play imports. It just overrides the reading of the ring on the outside of the disc that the Saturn uses to determine if the game is legit or not.

Unless you patched the game's ROM to be the same region as the Saturn before burning, then a modchip could work. For non-burned games though, no.

The Saturn uses jumpers on the board to determine it's region. You can solder a new link for a new region, or solder a switch to change between regions.

  • By the way I just love that big old model Saturn Control pad, shown above. That model controller actually never went to Japan. Only Europe and the Americas.

  • The Saturn had countless great Japanese games... thanks to the wonder of ebay, I have found all I dreamed of from back in the day... radiant silver gun (of course), panzer dragoon saga, hyper duel, gaurdian heros, mr bones, thunderforce v, shining the holy ark, Dodonpachi, layer section 2, astal.............South Africa and England where I lived really had a very small library to choose from, I suppose every country did besides Japan. The U.S probably had the biggest selection outside J A P A N.

  • whatever happened to sega? i miss sonic!

  • back in the day i had a sega saturn and a playstation i miss thoughs days

  • Classic game room guy, i love alot of your reviews but i have one beef... you have such a hard on for the genisis controller but you do not recognize the playstation controller as a direct ripoff of the supe nintendo, add some grippy things and another set of bumpers.......dude sony totally ripped the snes pad why don't you see it, it's clear as day.

  • YYEEEAAH!

    I'm getting a Saturn today!!!

  • Well youtubez says its been 3 days, have you got it? XD

  • Sure have, it's graet that I got it for a reasonable good price. 50 bucks for a package, they usually end up for lots more here..

  • Yeah

I'm probably gonna get mine for about £30, i think that's worth about $40. But i've seen games for really really cheap prices xD

  • no frickin way the ex pres of sega is working for MICROSOFT!!!! :0 shock

  • Wow you can really see where the xbox came from.Guess the president of sega really liked his system.(read it on wiki not sure if its true or not that the ex-president of sega works for microsoft now)

  • With an exception that Sega was awesome, Xbox is not. :P

  • I prefer my Model 1 over the model 2, but that little clear piece of plastic on the disc cover is just so dang cool; for obvious reasons.

  • yo can you play burned games on a saturn without

a mod chip and doing that swap trick??

    thx

  • I think what he meant to say was that the planet Saturn was named after the Sega Saturn
