  • Easy there Ernie, the green is right there!

Haha just kidding, Great, great, great swing!

  • well he's had 26 wins on the european tour (7th all time) and 18 pga wins, also one of the highest money earners of all time. probably would have won a lot more too if it hadn't been for a guy called woods. he's also a lovely guy, so you can say what you like about him or his swing but 99% of it is bullshit, nobody has a perfect swing. ernie has beautiful rhythm and is one of the best ball strikers out there, his record speaks for itself

  • @silowhore

    So, so true.

  • A great swing to emulate! All players have quirks to their swing. With Ernie I notice his hips move closer to the ball on the downswing thus a slightly higher shaft plane at impact compared to address. A quirk I've noticed in a number of pro swings, specifically Paul Casey and Els. Doesn't do them any harm!! I could watch Els hit balls every day. A pure joy to watch. Thanks for posting.

  • Just as an observation, he _is_ fractionally laid off--at the top, you can see the shaft is a shade left of parallel to the target line (check the shadow compared to the alignment clubs on the ground, for instance)--but, like almost everything discussed out here among amateurs re "swing technique," that's a merely technical observation that has nothing to do with the operation of his swing.

  • Laid off? the club is pointing straight down the target line at the top of the swing!!! Morons

  • his down swing almost looks as if its his back swing in reverse! thats the "big easy" for ya

  • to both of you nimrods...who really cares if its laid off. what really matters is that he's on plane. they both are very good iron players so whats the issue?

  • @gbenner89 i am with you on this. they are on plane. the club is supposed to lay back as the downswing begins and both players do have great iron play.

@ Mattjones1418, you know nothing about being on plane.

  • love how nobody gives ernie shit for laying off the club, but when it's tiger OMG!

  • @MattJones1418 Ernie doesn't lay off really it just appears laid off when he is coming down...Tiger on the other hand is SUPER LAID OFF and thats why hes wants to go back to his old Butch swing and fired Hank Haney.

  • @H0VA yeaaaa... no. how quickly u forget his best driving rounds at memorial last year or the us open in '07. But of course those don't count cuz they were with "hank".

  • @H0VA and another thing. ernie is laid off. is his club anywhere near parallel to his foot line there at the top? i though so

  • @MattJones1418 go by the shoulders not the feet.. a lot of different players have open and closed stances, but the shoulders are normally the main aiming points and to me it looks dead on plane to his shoulders.

  • @H0VA Exactly he's on plane!, the other swing is a two plane swing, i don't get why tiger gets crap when he stays on plane and when other guys do it it's not talked about. he's not going back to butch's swing u tard.

  • @MattJones1418 I thought Butch's swing was much better because of the hand position at the top so much more solid

  • @MattJones1418

Virtually no "one-plane" swing on tour is actually one plane; on an actual full swing, nearly all are two-plane to one degree or another. Tiger is "getting crap" not because he's staying somewhat close to a 1P swing, but because he's got some quirks that make him, at times, less consistent than he could be (particularly in excessive downward head movement and in the way he finishes, often high-right). Doesn't really matter; no great player has ever had a "perfect" swing anyway.

  • @emncaity that downward head movement is such a crock. even with his "new swing" at chevron the guys were talking about wow so much less head movement and when u watch the swing his head moves just the same. he's just changed his positioning and weight distribution/transition which has changed his swing.

  • the downward movement is good in the swing, its all you people get brain washed by shit commentators like joohhny miller who although they played good golf say some really dumb things about te golf swing, hogan had a lowering action n back and downswings visit wayne defrancescos channel he knows what he is talking about

  • @ellis505 pretty sure what I was stating here was not "brainwashed" info
