It's incredible that people have negative connotation for this piece of music. This is true music with real emotion. No synthesizers, no auto tune, and especially no missing elements as to how beautiful this music truly is. Only musicians will truly appreciate this piece.
Vintage Vengerov. Magnificent concepts, and he introduces a new talented colleague Mr. Power. Both great players, enjoying Mozart at his most sublime. It is unusual to have such a height discrepancy between soloists, but Vengerov holds his own while allowing Power to also express himself. Thoroughly enjoyable performance. Thank you very much for this posting Duc3835.
I do not see why people are saying which instrucment is better. Or which musician is better. I see two amazing musicians above and think are both truly blessed and are very talented. I think by saying which is better purely sets an unhealthy atmosphere to somehting that is beautiful.
Wonderful performance by two great musician. but i think each of them plays for himself.just listen to perlman and zukerman recording they play for each other and for orchestra and i think that's the mystery of that great recording.
This is a lovely performance although the orchestral musicians look so stiff. Agreed, the Mutter/Bashmet performance is gorgeous, however, I think Power's performance is more nuanced and interesting than that of Bashmet's acrobatics.

I've heard that this piece is so beautiful but sorry it's not even interesting, after reading your comments I believe it's a matter of performance, and thanks God if I'm right. *goes to search somewhere else*
Jeez, Vengerov look like a baby compare to violist. No bad performance but I don't hear duet, I hear two very good musicians .... sorry. Lousy orchestra, sounds very immature compare to soloists.
You think? And what is so great about it? I can't understand they phrasing. It doesn't tell me anything only that they trying to do some dynamic. Very straight forward dynamic. Violist obviously trying impress audience and don't care about his partner, but his bow stroke (especially up-up-up) are very student-ish and totally meaningless. So I don't see any great performance here. Sold - yes.

Just the power that the viola has in its sound is intoxicating in this piece........A much better instrument than the violin, in my opinion
