What a discussion.. If someone isn't Born again he can Not Loose eternal Life Cause he Never had it... And someone who is Born again can Never Loose the eternal Life! And God is responsible that we are Not Loose that eternal Life. Not our Works..
On Saturday, December the 18th, from 8:00-8:12.( EST) I invite everyone to sing in tonges or psalms to GOD, I think its about time we, as the body of Christ praise GOD as he should be praised. Maybe the angels will join with us :)
Please invite others to join, no matter what language, nation or race you are your welcome to join us, to praise the LORD as he should be praised!
Really could have done without the distracting music in the background. God's words do not need to be spruced up. Ditch the music and let the message do the entertaining.
According to Paul Washer's false gospel, anyone who professes faith in Jesus Christ must also continue believing and repenting to be saved. What Mr. Washer subtly calls "evidence" is actually a "requirement" for salvation, because he plainly states that a person must CONTINUE repenting and believing to be saved.
@disciplesofthecross The point he is trying to make is that you must live a lifestyle of constant turning from sin and constant turning to God through faith in his Son. God must be your CONSTANT RECOURSE in salvation and your salvation must be continual and progressive because "he who began a good work in you will finish it."
@HDell1994 If you must live a constant lifestyle of turning from sin after you are saved, then your salvation would be based on good works and not grace through faith, as the scripture teaches. Salvation is instant, the renewing of our minds are progressive.
@disciplesofthecross No, what I'm saying is that after being saved, you WILL live a lifestyle of mortifying the flesh and asking for forgiveness, not because this is a requirment to get into Heaven, but because as a result of you being saved by grace through faith, you have a tender heart for God and will face convictions. The salvation is based on faith, but the evidence of faith is works because "faith woithout works is dead."
@HDell1994 We SHOULD live a Godly life after being saved but some Christians BACKSLIDE and don't live Godly lives, but they are still saved. Paul Washer teaches that if you don't live a Godly life after you are saved, then you may not be saved at all, but the world is FULL of backsliders in bars...who are still saved. "For by grace are ye saved through faith, NOT of works"
@disciplesofthecross Alright, seems like we both have reformed theological views and that's great, but this seems to just be a small misunderstanding. YES, people are saved through faith, and not by works. But faith produces works, "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone (Jas 2:24)." You should really read James 2:14-26. Also, YES people do backslide, but in order to BACKSLIDE you must have already made progression.
@disciplesofthecross And also, if a person lacks conviction and other essential signs of conversion, they AREN'T backsliding but instead haven't been saved at all. Many people CLAIM to have faith but don't really have it all because no change occured as a result of it. "What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? (Jas 2:14)"
@HDell1994 SIGNS of salvation? Do you see SIGNS of salvation in a backslider in a bar? We don't judge someones salvation by SIGNS. The biblical TEST to see if someone is "of God" or not is by WHO they say Jesus Christ is, (1John 4:3) not by SIGNS they exhibit. When I want to know if someone is "of God" or not biblically, I simply ask them if they believe Christ has come in the flesh. (2John 1:7)
@disciplesofthecross Well you OBVIOUSLY DON'T UNDERSTAND salvation. ANYONE can say that Jesus Christ "has come in the flesh"! Heck, even Hitler could have said that. Although what you say is neccessary, it is whether or not you BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART OR NOT! And you can't just simply ask the person if they believe in their hearts because once again, ANYONE can say they do and also, the Bible says that the heart is "decietfully wicked." There is EVIDENCE OF SALVATION. Many confess with their mouth
@HDell1994 The scripture says no man can say that Jesus is Lord UNLESS the Holy Spirit dwells within them. (1Corinthians 12:3) The scripture also says to TEST the spirits to see if they are "of God" (1John 4:1) Then it shows us HOW to test them. If you disagree with me, then you disagree with the Word of God.
@disciplesofthecross I've been reading 1 John and I'm beginning to see exactly where you are coming from. I desire NOT to disagree with Scripture so I'll continue to study on salvation in order to find the truth. But something still isn't adding up, I believed that Jesus was the son of God my entire life but wasn't saved until the age of fifteen. Or was I? It's like I believed that Jesus was the Son of God but never "REPENTED" and didn't even UNDERSTAND "THE GOSPEL." Do you see where I'm going?
@disciplesofthecross I have some questions to ask, but I'll continue to study salvation: 1) Why did Jesus always call people to "repent AND believe in the Gospel" (As though repentance was equally as important as believing)? 2) If you asked Hitler if he believed Christ has come in the flesh and he said "yes," is he saved (Don't take it literally, but you get the idea)? 3) Is it possible to SAY that "Jesus is Lord" but still not have faith in him? 4) Can you explain James 2:14-26?
@HDell1994 The scripture says that no man can say that Jesus is Lord (meaning they believe it, not just saying it flippantly) unless the Holy Spirit abides in them. "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed, and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." (1Corinthains 12:3) If a person truly confesses Jesus as Lord, they are a believer.
@HDell1994 Repentance is part of salvation, they go together. "I tell you, Nay, but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:3) The whole point of God's salvation is for us to repent of our sin, to turn from that sin, so yes, it's our willingness to change, and then the Holy Spirit will empower us to accomplish that repentance.
@HDell1994 I already answered your question about repentance. If I asked Hitler if Christ had come in the flesh he would have denied it, and if he said yes, he would not have been sincere. His life demonstrated his god was satan. I already answered the Jesus is Lord question also. Don't you read my replies?
@HDell1994 James 2:14-26 The context is speaking of someone who just SAYS they have faith. In other words, they are all talk. TRUE faith will show forth good works in one way or another. Works are the EVIDENCE of our faith but works can never save us. The scripture is clear and never contradicts itself. Only faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross can save and keep us.
@disciplesofthecross Well thank you alot for answering these questions, seems to me as though we have been agreeing this entire time. All I've been trying to say is that what Paul Washer preaches is that "works are the EVIDENCE of our faith." He preaches towards the people who claim to have faith but show no type of evidence because thet show no type of works. When he says that they will continue repenting and believing...
@HDell1994 What about EVIDENCE of someones faith that others can't SEE? For example..someone who takes care of an elderly person. Their WORKS can't be SEEN by others and if others judged that person SOLELY by their works, they wouldn't SEE their works, so judging someones salvation by what we SEE, isn't the biblical way to KNOW if someone is saved or not.
@disciplesofthecross Whether Paul Washer can see them or not doesn't matter. Paul Washer once said he disagrees with Decisional Regeneration and when people take it upon themselves to declare that someone is saved. Instead what Paul Washer said should be done is to give them the Gospel but to then let THEM know that if NO works is produced by their faith and if they don't get CONVICTION of sin, then they might not be saved. Paul Washer would tell the person because THEY "SEE" EVERYTHING they do.
@disciplesofthecross It's not like Paul Washer sits their and judges the person, but instead he tells the person HOW TO JUDGE THEMSELVES. Ofcourse WE don't see everything they do during their lives but THEY DO and Paul Washer lets them know how they should examine themselves. Rather then just saying, "YOU'RE SAVED!" What Paul Washer does is say, "If there is no type of evidence of your faith, you may NOT be saved." And what is the bigger evidence than CONVICTION of sin? Every Christian has that.
@disciplesofthecross So how would you judge someone, would you simply ask them who they believe Christ is? I can tell you one thing, MANY people call Christ the son of God and are still living lives like Hitler (Just an example, you get the point). The Bible tells us MANY WAYS to judge people, it not only tells us to judge their doctrine (1Jn4:1-3) but ALSO to judge their character (Matt7:20). The Bible says that "you will know them by their fruits."
@disciplesofthecross It tells us that a good tree (Christian) bears good fruit while a bad tree (unbeliever) bears bad fruit. In BOTH cases (Matt 7:20 & 1John 4:1-3), God was referring to false prophets specifically but they are also principals that can apply to anyone. So not only should their doctrine be judged, but as Paul Washer preaches, their CHARACTER/LIFESTYLES (which are synomis to their FRUITS) must ALSO be judged because we will "know them by their fruits."
@HDell1994 The BIBLICAL way to TEST the spirits to see if they are of God, is to ask them if they confess that Christ has come in the flesh (1John 4:3) not to see how many "good works" they do, Even wicked people do good works and can live moral lives, so OBVIOUSLY we can't judge a persons salvation by his good works or morality. Paul Washer is in error because he teaches salvation by good works.
@disciplesofthecross NO, you still don't understand it but we both seem to have firm beliefs in our own doctrines so it would be best for us to agree to disagree and leave it at that. Take a look at Matthew 7:20 though and a few of the verses before that. Because there are MANY who claim that Christ has come in the flesh with their mouths but don't believe in their heart. Anyways, this debate won't get us anywhere because you AREN'T GETTING ANY OF MY POINTS (OBVIOUSLY), so nice talking to you...
@HDell1994 I'm just showing you the BIBLICAL TEST for determining if someone is "of God" or not. If you don't want to believe scripture..I can't help you.
@disciplesofthecross Oh and by the way, there is a difference between "good works" and "good fruit." Also, stop CREATING false quotes that I NEVER wrote. What's the point, you obviously aren't listening.
@disciplesofthecross No offense, but we must show patience when we are in discipleship mode. The bible warns that we should not allow our good deeds to be evil spoken of. One of the fruits of the spirit is patience. We can not attack people or make them feel stupid when we are sharing information with them. It turns people away rather than bringing them closer.
@disciplesofthecross 1 John 3:9-10 "No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother."
@HDell1994 It does not say "practices sin". It says, "Whosoever is born of God doth not COMMIT SIN, for his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1John 3:9) The words COMMIT SIN are not translated to PRACTICE SIN in the Greek. What this verse is saying is that the SPIRIT of a believer CANNOT SIN because it is born of God.
@disciplesofthecross "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." - 1 John 1:6
Also, 1 John 3:9 was not addressing the "Spirit" of God, it was adressing the Christian themself. Again I will say, many people "profess" to be Christians but ONLY their lifestyles will show us whether they are true Christians or not for we "will know them by their fruits," will we not?
@HDell1994 Having FELLOWSHIP with God isn't speaking of our SALVATION. Fellowship with God is concerning our RELATIONSHIP with Him after we are saved, not salvation itself.
@disciplesofthecross So wait a minute, tell me how you interpret these texts: Philippians 1:6, Luke 6:43-45, Matthew 7:16-18, and Matthew 12:33.
Now you say that 1 John 1:6 doesn't talk about our salvation but clearly 1 John 1:7 says "but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the BLOOD OF JESUS HIS SON CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN ." Showing that if our lifestyles are in the light, that is EVIDENCE of Jesus saving us from our sins.
@HDell1994 Our righteousness (right standing before God) comes through our FAITH in Christ alone..not our LIFESTYLES, according to the Word of God. You could NEVER be good enough, or obedient enough, or nice enough, or loving enough, to keep your own salvation, and that is precisely why Christ did it FOR us. He kept the law FOR us, and when we rely on HIS work, we are made righteous before the Father..
@disciplesofthecross It's amusing how you just skipped over all of the verses I've asked you to explain. Stop hiding from those verses and give me your interpretation of what they mean. Because I don't disagree with what you said, we are justified by faith and faith alone, but it doesn't stop there, there is evidence of that faith and if that evidence doesn't appear, maybe the FAITH WAS NEVER THERE to begin with! But like I said before, stop cowardly avoiding those verses and interpret them.
@HDell1994 I'm not interested in explaining all those verses to you on Youtube sorry. Anyway, no matter what I would say, you would just come back to refute it, like you have done seveal times now. Salvation is by faith alone, not works, according to the Word of God and ANYTHING you want to add to that is NOT of God...bye
@disciplesofthecross What you're saying isn't wrong, but the fact remains that it is impossible for a person to not be changed when they are saved, that's all Paul Washer is trying to say. No one can get saved and continue to live their lives as if nothing happened, that just shows that they were never saved. Whether you explain them or not, when you have the time, read atleast one of those scriptures and the truth will be revealed to you, and please stop misinterpreting Paul Washer's messages.
@HDell1994 That is NOT what Paul Washer is saying. Answer this, how would you tell if a backslider was saved if you met him in a bar while he was drinking Tequila and flirting with a girl other than his wife? Tell me how you would determine he was born again...and for the sake of argument, let me clarify he was truly born again at age 17. Tell me, how would you determine he was saved?
@disciplesofthecross With time, I wouldn't simply ask the person if they believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because I could hand the most God hating person (for example) on the Earth a Bible and tell them to just "say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God whenever someone asks you although you don't actually believe it" and they still wouldn't be saved. I would determine if the person was saved with TIME and the way they view/talk about God whether they are struggling or not at the time.
@HDell1994 So depending or not if they are STRUGGLING would determine if they were truly born again? lol What about the backslider who has given up? How would you determine if they were still saved while speaking with them in a bar?
@disciplesofthecross No, I never said that, stop misinterpreting me as you do Paul Washer. I was saying it doesn't matter whether they are struggling or not. But if ANY person has "GIVEN UP" on Christianity as a whole and would never come back to it, then they are not saved. "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us (1Jn2:19)."
@HDell1994 "If ANY person has "GIVEN UP" on Christianity as a whole and would never come back to it, then they are not saved"? So our salvation depends on us to keep? How does someone who has "given up" become unborn again? How do you reverse something supernatural that the Holy Spirit did within your spirit at the time of conversion simply by "giving up"? lol That is not only absurd and unbiblical, it is impossible. Keep studying and pray for wisdom..
@disciplesofthecross No, no, no, you don't get, they don't become "unborn again," THEY WERE *NEVER* BORN AGAIN TO BEGIN WITH! They were NEVER converted, and they NEVER received the Holy Spirit. You really need to study the doctrine of "perseverance of the saints," If they don't persevere, they NEVER STARTED. Stop overthinking things, it's very simple dotc.
@HDell1994 I'm speaking of those who WERE born again and give up. They do NOT lose their salvation because it is IMPOSSIBLE to become unborn again. You cannot reverse something supernatural that the Holy Spirit did within your spirit at the time of conversion simply by "giving up. Eternal life..is eternal.
@disciplesofthecross No, you speaking of people who you THINK "WERE BORN AGAIN," because it's "IMPOSSIBLE" to give up on leave Christianity. Those people who you "THINK WERE BORN AGAIN AND GIVE UP" were NEVER "BRON AGAIN" to begin with!
@disciplesofthecross You really think that a person can become a part of Christ through the Holy Spirit and walk away? Why do you downgrade Christ by saying His touch upon a person's life is not enough to captivate a person for eternity?
@disciplesofthecross Then you have ceded the battle to Satan by saying the Holy Spirit was not strong enough to hold them accountable. They must not be bothered by their sins to remain backslidden. Reading the Word you see that every encounter with God, His messengers, the Holy Spirit, or Jesus causes the person to walk away undeniably changed. For someone to claim to know God and then remain carnal without repentance is false conversion, thus they were never "saved" to begin with.
@Tripp9 I never said a backslider wasn't "bothered" by their sins, I said they lived in their sin daily. I was born again and backslid for years, and yet I was still saved, so your argument is flawed.
@disciplesofthecross People who thinks that they are saved and continues in carnality are not saved. They are the "workers of iniquity" Jesus refutes in Luke 13. You are giving a crutch to people who have only found God to avoid the heat by saying "once saved, always saved, nothing more needs to happen". Think of that moment in which you realized you needed Christ more than ever and you gave it all to Him. That, my friend, is the moment of salvation. It takes a while for some to achieve.
@disciplesofthecross It's ALSO amusing how you twist my words up. I never said that righteousness comes through our lifestyles, I said that the EVIDENCE of our righteousness (AFTER faith in Christ saves us) comes through our lifestyles. But anyways, please stop running from those verses and explain them.
@HDell1994 Backsliders SHOW no evidence of faith, but they are STILL SAVED so you OBVIOUSLY cannot judge someones salvation by their works..lol sheesh
@disciplesofthecross1)Listen, I know Christains that have backslided, but let me tell you something, in order to "backslide" you must of made progression at some point of your life. 2)NO Christian feels no conviction of their sins, so whether you're backsliding or not, the conviction felt over your sins by the Holy Spirit is a CLEAR evidence that you are saved. 3)If a person is saved, they are different to some extent to before they were saved, IT'S impossible to get saved and not change at all.
@disciplesofthecross ...he is talking about sanctification. How God will finish the good work he began in his believers. He also stated that YES, there will be times when they struggle, and yes, they may backslide. But over the course of their lifetime you will see a change in them from who they were when they were unsaved. This "change" is synonomis to the works that they produce. Because their faith resulting in SOME form of works is still a change from NO WORKS before being saved. God Bless!
@disciplesofthecross A HUGE amount of people in the churches can CLAIM to be backsliders but alot of them are using that term as an excuse of them not being saved. YES, ALL Christians struggle with sin, YES, we have our "off" days, or even weeks. But a true Christian has a heart for Christ and can not live a sinful lifestyle and sit there cold as a stone with no sensitivity to their sins...
@HDell1994 Live a constant lifestyle of turning from sin to "stay saved'? That is simply not biblical and that is where Paul Washer is in error. Salvation isn't continual or progressive...it is INSTANT and we are SEALED the moment we believe. (Romans 10:9,10) (Ephesians 4:39) The renewing of our minds with the Word of God is continual.
@disciplesofthecross FIRST of all, I never said "STAY SAVED" so don't create false quotations. Yes, salvation is instant, but it is impossible for someone to get saved and their lives not be changed in the least. If their lifestyles weren't changed and they never got conviction of sin or ANY NEW TRAITS/NATURE (that's what I meant by "signs"), then they were NEVER SAVED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Never did I say, "stay saved," I said, "haven't been saved at all."
@disciplesofthecross Yes, the renewing of the Christians mind is continual, but when someone is INSTANTLY born again, they DIE to their original nature and gain a NEW NATURE. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)" Jesus straigth up says that if you are in Christ, you WILL "BEAR MUCH FRUIT." He didn't say might, but he said that you will bear fruit. So being in Christ = Bearing much fruit.
@HDell1994 They only DIE to the old sin nature when they reckon themselves dead to it and mortify the deeds of the body through the renewing of their minds. Paul said, I die daily. The bible doesnt say if you are "in Christ" you will bear much fruit, if says if you ABIDE in Christ you will bear much fruit, Abide as in staying in a "relationship" with Him. obeying Him. All Christians are "in Christ," but not all are ABIDING in Him.
@disciplesofthecross But wait, "what about the people who DON'T bear fruit, what happens to them?" you ask? Well just look a verse down, "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. (John 15:6)" Well obviously those that DO bear fruit HAVE to abide in him, but if you don't abide in him, you won't bear fruit and those that don't bear fruit are thrown "into the fire."
@HDell1994 The FIRE there isn't speaking of the fires of hell. CONTEXT defines interpretation. It simply means if a believer isn't bearing fruit, and continues not to bear fruit, he is worthless to the Kingdom, just as a fruitless apple tree is good for nothing but to be burned, but sometimes may remove him (to heaven) "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away." (John 15:2)
@disciplesofthecross Also, take note of how the last verse ended, "for apart from Me you can do nothing." This shows that if YOU AREN'T in Christ, you CAN'T bear fruit. But if you are in Christ, you "bears much fruit." So, if these guys are in bars and bear no type of Christlike fruit at all, I DOUBT their born again, because NO born again Christian lives apart from Christ. Hope you read this all and I hope this clarified everything.
@HDell1994 ALL believers are IN CHRIST, but not all believers are ABIDING in Christ as in a RELATIONSHIP. There is a difference. I was a backslider in a bar at one point in my Christian life and the Holy Spirit NEVER left me. I was still IN CHRIST, even in the bar, but I was not ABIDING in Christ, as in a relationship with Him at the time. I NEVER lost my salvation...obviously.
@disciplesofthecross And he wasn't saying that you must continue to repent and believe to be saved, but that if you are saved, you WILL NATURALLY live a lifestyle of repentance and believing in God. This is because you 1) Hate sin and will turn from it and 2) Love God and will turn to him. And all people will ALWAYS struggle with sin so Christians are those who live against it through faith in Jesus.
@HDell1994 Have you never seen a backslider in a bar? Once a person has been born again, they don't always live a pure life, obedient to God, BUT, they are still saved. You cannot become unborn again.
@disciplesofthecross Hah, basically what you are saying is that when a person is born again they don't change at all. This is heresy, MAYBE those people who call themselves backsliders aren't true born again Christians. Maybe they SAY "Christ has come in the flesh" but first of all, what kind of crap is that? Are you saying that regardless of how you live your life, if you make the claim, "Christ has come in the flesh" you're born again? No, God knows your heart and THAT is what will be judged.
@disciplesofthecross And my final point, imagine someone professed faith in Jesus and had no change, they still bore the same bad fruits as before and felt no guilt for their sins to the point of turning from them. They couldn't possibly be saved because basically: Sinners 1) Won't turn from their sins daily & 2) Won't put faith in Jesus in order to turn from their sins and have a relationship with God.
@disciplesofthecross I don't want to start a huge debate and didn't originally intend to post so many messages but I hope you got something from this. God Bless You, and please, send me a message of your theological views if you wish.
If you look into the works of Michael Tsarion, Jordan Maxwell, Graham Hancock, and many more... in fact anyone who researches ancient religion without bias, you will discover that the stories in the bible either dovetail with, or were copied from earlier texts; and there were many messiah stories previous to, and very similar to the story of Jesus.
Demanding worship upon penalty of eternal hell... blood sacrifices... religion based on fear & guilt... if this is your god... you've been lied to.
So, if this is all "not real" to you, why are you on here? It's obvious to me that you're searching. It's obvious to me that there's something that's drawing you to watch these videos, to find answers in this world. He's tugging on your heart. I know it. If you are sincere with yourself, you can feel it.
I don't know what kind of background you're coming from or anything about you, except that you watched this video, but I'll be praying for you.
@snaptail13: Above all, I am a truth-seeker. I was raised christian; but after 18 years of that, I, like so many, others had doubts. So, unlike so many others, I did the responsible thing: I studied almost every religion in the world - including many ancient ones. As a result, I formulated many new concepts. I sometimes use these christian sites to test my ideas. I like to see how people who claim to be christians react. If they are befuddled, or if they get angry, then that tells me something.
The fact that so many religious people are offended by Paul Washer's messages is proof that many self professing "Christians" are phoneys whose spirituality goes no further than the Church's Front Door on Sunday.
Sitting on a Church Pew every other Sunday does not make you a Christian. A new life in Christ does.
Too many pseudo Christians get offended when anyone talks about REPENTANCE and HOLINESS. They act like Vampires around garlic when you start talking about leading Holy lives.

@disciplesofthecross There's sp much more to it then just that. You must understand the point he is trying to make.

(Jas 2:14)"
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 SIGNS of salvation? Do you see SIGNS of salvation in a backslider in a bar? We don't judge someones salvation by SIGNS. The biblical TEST to see if someone is "of God" or not is by WHO they say Jesus Christ is, (1John 4:3) not by SIGNS they exhibit. When I want to know if someone is "of God" or not biblically, I simply ask them if they believe Christ has come in the flesh. (2John 1:7)
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Well you OBVIOUSLY DON'T UNDERSTAND salvation. ANYONE can say that Jesus Christ "has come in the flesh"! Heck, even Hitler could have said that. Although what you say is neccessary, it is whether or not you BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART OR NOT! And you can't just simply ask the person if they believe in their hearts because once again, ANYONE can say they do and also, the Bible says that the heart is "decietfully wicked." There is EVIDENCE OF SALVATION. Many confess with their mouth
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 The scripture says no man can say that Jesus is Lord UNLESS the Holy Spirit dwells within them. (1Corinthians 12:3) The scripture also says to TEST the spirits to see if they are "of God" (1John 4:1) Then it shows us HOW to test them. If you disagree with me, then you disagree with the Word of God.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross I've been reading 1 John and I'm beginning to see exactly where you are coming from. I desire NOT to disagree with Scripture so I'll continue to study on salvation in order to find the truth. But something still isn't adding up, I believed that Jesus was the son of God my entire life but wasn't saved until the age of fifteen. Or was I? It's like I believed that Jesus was the Son of God but never "REPENTED" and didn't even UNDERSTAND "THE GOSPEL." Do you see where I'm going?

HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross I have some questions to ask, but I'll continue to study salvation: 1) Why did Jesus always call people to "repent AND believe in the Gospel" (As though repentance was equally as important as believing)? 2) If you asked Hitler if he believed Christ has come in the flesh and he said "yes," is he saved (Don't take it literally, but you get the idea)? 3) Is it possible to SAY that "Jesus is Lord" but still not have faith in him? 4) Can you explain James 2:14-26?
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 The scripture says that no man can say that Jesus is Lord (meaning they believe it, not just saying it flippantly) unless the Holy Spirit abides in them. "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed, and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." (1Corinthains 12:3) If a person truly confesses Jesus as Lord, they are a believer.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Repentance is part of salvation, they go together. "I tell you, Nay, but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:3) The whole point of God's salvation is for us to repent of our sin, to turn from that sin, so yes, it's our willingness to change, and then the Holy Spirit will empower us to accomplish that repentance.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@HDell1994 I already answered your question about repentance. If I asked Hitler if Christ had come in the flesh he would have denied it, and if he said yes, he would not have been sincere. His life demonstrated his god was satan. I already answered the Jesus is Lord question also. Don't you read my replies?
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@HDell1994 James 2:14-26 The context is speaking of someone who just SAYS they have faith. In other words, they are all talk. TRUE faith will show forth good works in one way or another. Works are the EVIDENCE of our faith but works can never save us. The scripture is clear and never contradicts itself. Only faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross can save and keep us.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Well thank you alot for answering these questions, seems to me as though we have been agreeing this entire time. All I've been trying to say is that what Paul Washer preaches is that "works are the EVIDENCE of our faith." He preaches towards the people who claim to have faith but show no type of evidence because thet show no type of works. When he says that they will continue repenting and believing...
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 What about EVIDENCE of someones faith that others can't SEE? For example..someone who takes care of an elderly person. Their WORKS can't be SEEN by others and if others judged that person SOLELY by their works, they wouldn't SEE their works, so judging someones salvation by what we SEE, isn't the biblical way to KNOW if someone is saved or not.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Whether Paul Washer can see them or not doesn't matter. Paul Washer once said he disagrees with Decisional Regeneration and when people take it upon themselves to declare that someone is saved. Instead what Paul Washer said should be done is to give them the Gospel but to then let THEM know that if NO works is produced by their faith and if they don't get CONVICTION of sin, then they might not be saved. Paul Washer would tell the person because THEY "SEE" EVERYTHING they do.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross It's not like Paul Washer sits their and judges the person, but instead he tells the person HOW TO JUDGE THEMSELVES. Ofcourse WE don't see everything they do during their lives but THEY DO and Paul Washer lets them know how they should examine themselves. Rather then just saying, "YOU'RE SAVED!" What Paul Washer does is say, "If there is no type of evidence of your faith, you may NOT be saved." And what is the bigger evidence than CONVICTION of sin? Every Christian has that.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 My point exactly, Paul Washers WAY to judge a persons salvation is NOT the biblical way. How many times must I say this? sheesh
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross So how would you judge someone, would you simply ask them who they believe Christ is? I can tell you one thing, MANY people call Christ the son of God and are still living lives like Hitler (Just an example, you get the point). The Bible tells us MANY WAYS to judge people, it not only tells us to judge their doctrine (1Jn4:1-3) but ALSO to judge their character (Matt7:20). The Bible says that "you will know them by their fruits."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross It tells us that a good tree (Christian) bears good fruit while a bad tree (unbeliever) bears bad fruit. In BOTH cases (Matt 7:20 & 1John 4:1-3), God was referring to false prophets specifically but they are also principals that can apply to anyone. So not only should their doctrine be judged, but as Paul Washer preaches, their CHARACTER/LIFESTYLES (which are synomis to their FRUITS) must ALSO be judged because we will "know them by their fruits."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 The BIBLICAL way to TEST the spirits to see if they are of God, is to ask them if they confess that Christ has come in the flesh (1John 4:3) not to see how many "good works" they do, Even wicked people do good works and can live moral lives, so OBVIOUSLY we can't judge a persons salvation by his good works or morality. Paul Washer is in error because he teaches salvation by good works.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross NO, you still don't understand it but we both seem to have firm beliefs in our own doctrines so it would be best for us to agree to disagree and leave it at that. Take a look at Matthew 7:20 though and a few of the verses before that. Because there are MANY who claim that Christ has come in the flesh with their mouths but don't believe in their heart. Anyways, this debate won't get us anywhere because you AREN'T GETTING ANY OF MY POINTS (OBVIOUSLY), so nice talking to you...

HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross No offense, but we must show patience when we are in discipleship mode. The bible warns that we should not allow our good deeds to be evil spoken of. One of the fruits of the spirit is patience. We can not attack people or make them feel stupid when we are sharing information with them. It turns people away rather than bringing them closer.
matuber 1 year ago
@matuber Attack people? lol Can you quote where I ATTACKED someone or attempted to make someone FEEL STUPID?
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross 1 John 3:9-10 "No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 It does not say "practices sin". It says, "Whosoever is born of God doth not COMMIT SIN, for his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1John 3:9) The words COMMIT SIN are not translated to PRACTICE SIN in the Greek. What this verse is saying is that the SPIRIT of a believer CANNOT SIN because it is born of God.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." - 1 John 1:6
Also, 1 John 3:9 was not addressing the "Spirit" of God, it was adressing the Christian themself. Again I will say, many people "profess" to be Christians but ONLY their lifestyles will show us whether they are true Christians or not for we "will know them by their fruits," will we not?
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Having FELLOWSHIP with God isn't speaking of our SALVATION. Fellowship with God is concerning our RELATIONSHIP with Him after we are saved, not salvation itself.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Our righteousness (right standing before God) comes through our FAITH in Christ alone..not our LIFESTYLES, according to the Word of God. You could NEVER be good enough, or obedient enough, or nice enough, or loving enough, to keep your own salvation, and that is precisely why Christ did it FOR us. He kept the law FOR us, and when we rely on HIS work, we are made righteous before the Father..
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross It's amusing how you just skipped over all of the verses I've asked you to explain. Stop hiding from those verses and give me your interpretation of what they mean. Because I don't disagree with what you said, we are justified by faith and faith alone, but it doesn't stop there, there is evidence of that faith and if that evidence doesn't appear, maybe the FAITH WAS NEVER THERE to begin with! But like I said before, stop cowardly avoiding those verses and interpret them.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 I'm not interested in explaining all those verses to you on Youtube sorry. Anyway, no matter what I would say, you would just come back to refute it, like you have done seveal times now. Salvation is by faith alone, not works, according to the Word of God and ANYTHING you want to add to that is NOT of God...bye
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross What you're saying isn't wrong, but the fact remains that it is impossible for a person to not be changed when they are saved, that's all Paul Washer is trying to say. No one can get saved and continue to live their lives as if nothing happened, that just shows that they were never saved. Whether you explain them or not, when you have the time, read atleast one of those scriptures and the truth will be revealed to you, and please stop misinterpreting Paul Washer's messages.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 That is NOT what Paul Washer is saying. Answer this, how would you tell if a backslider was saved if you met him in a bar while he was drinking Tequila and flirting with a girl other than his wife? Tell me how you would determine he was born again...and for the sake of argument, let me clarify he was truly born again at age 17. Tell me, how would you determine he was saved?
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross With time, I wouldn't simply ask the person if they believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because I could hand the most God hating person (for example) on the Earth a Bible and tell them to just "say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God whenever someone asks you although you don't actually believe it" and they still wouldn't be saved. I would determine if the person was saved with TIME and the way they view/talk about God whether they are struggling or not at the time.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 You don't have TIME, you just saw them in a bar...how would you tell if they were truly born again? What would determine that?
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@HDell1994 So depending or not if they are STRUGGLING would determine if they were truly born again? lol What about the backslider who has given up? How would you determine if they were still saved while speaking with them in a bar?
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross No, I never said that, stop misinterpreting me as you do Paul Washer. I was saying it doesn't matter whether they are struggling or not. But if ANY person has "GIVEN UP" on Christianity as a whole and would never come back to it, then they are not saved. "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us (1Jn2:19)."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 "If ANY person has "GIVEN UP" on Christianity as a whole and would never come back to it, then they are not saved"? So our salvation depends on us to keep? How does someone who has "given up" become unborn again? How do you reverse something supernatural that the Holy Spirit did within your spirit at the time of conversion simply by "giving up"? lol That is not only absurd and unbiblical, it is impossible. Keep studying and pray for wisdom..
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross No, no, no, you don't get, they don't become "unborn again," THEY WERE *NEVER* BORN AGAIN TO BEGIN WITH! They were NEVER converted, and they NEVER received the Holy Spirit. You really need to study the doctrine of "perseverance of the saints," If they don't persevere, they NEVER STARTED. Stop overthinking things, it's very simple dotc.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 I'm speaking of those who WERE born again and give up. They do NOT lose their salvation because it is IMPOSSIBLE to become unborn again. You cannot reverse something supernatural that the Holy Spirit did within your spirit at the time of conversion simply by "giving up. Eternal life..is eternal.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross No, you speaking of people who you THINK "WERE BORN AGAIN," because it's "IMPOSSIBLE" to give up on leave Christianity. Those people who you "THINK WERE BORN AGAIN AND GIVE UP" were NEVER "BRON AGAIN" to begin with!

@disciplesofthecross Yeah the debate did get kind of (very) heated, but let's end it on good terms and just agree to disagree. God bless you dotc.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross You really think that a person can become a part of Christ through the Holy Spirit and walk away? Why do you downgrade Christ by saying His touch upon a person's life is not enough to captivate a person for eternity?
Tripp9 1 year ago
@Tripp9 Do you know how many truly born again people are backsliders right now? Millions...
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Then you have ceded the battle to Satan by saying the Holy Spirit was not strong enough to hold them accountable. They must not be bothered by their sins to remain backslidden. Reading the Word you see that every encounter with God, His messengers, the Holy Spirit, or Jesus causes the person to walk away undeniably changed. For someone to claim to know God and then remain carnal without repentance is false conversion, thus they were never "saved" to begin with.
Tripp9 1 year ago
@Tripp9 I never said a backslider wasn't "bothered" by their sins, I said they lived in their sin daily. I was born again and backslid for years, and yet I was still saved, so your argument is flawed.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross People who thinks that they are saved and continues in carnality are not saved. They are the "workers of iniquity" Jesus refutes in Luke 13. You are giving a crutch to people who have only found God to avoid the heat by saying "once saved, always saved, nothing more needs to happen". Think of that moment in which you realized you needed Christ more than ever and you gave it all to Him. That, my friend, is the moment of salvation. It takes a while for some to achieve.
Tripp9 1 year ago 3

HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Backsliders SHOW no evidence of faith, but they are STILL SAVED so you OBVIOUSLY cannot judge someones salvation by their works..lol sheesh
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross1)Listen, I know Christains that have backslided, but let me tell you something, in order to "backslide" you must of made progression at some point of your life. 2)NO Christian feels no conviction of their sins, so whether you're backsliding or not, the conviction felt over your sins by the Holy Spirit is a CLEAR evidence that you are saved. 3)If a person is saved, they are different to some extent to before they were saved, IT'S impossible to get saved and not change at all.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Exactly...to get saved and not change is a falsehood that becomes an excuse for people to remain as heathens and say it'll all be ok.
Tripp9 1 year ago

HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Live a constant lifestyle of turning from sin to "stay saved'? That is simply not biblical and that is where Paul Washer is in error. Salvation isn't continual or progressive...it is INSTANT and we are SEALED the moment we believe. (Romans 10:9,10) (Ephesians 4:39) The renewing of our minds with the Word of God is continual.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross FIRST of all, I never said "STAY SAVED" so don't create false quotations. Yes, salvation is instant, but it is impossible for someone to get saved and their lives not be changed in the least. If their lifestyles weren't changed and they never got conviction of sin or ANY NEW TRAITS/NATURE (that's what I meant by "signs"), then they were NEVER SAVED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Never did I say, "stay saved," I said, "haven't been saved at all."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Yes, the renewing of the Christians mind is continual, but when someone is INSTANTLY born again, they DIE to their original nature and gain a NEW NATURE. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)" Jesus straigth up says that if you are in Christ, you WILL "BEAR MUCH FRUIT." He didn't say might, but he said that you will bear fruit. So being in Christ = Bearing much fruit.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 They only DIE to the old sin nature when they reckon themselves dead to it and mortify the deeds of the body through the renewing of their minds. Paul said, I die daily. The bible doesnt say if you are "in Christ" you will bear much fruit, if says if you ABIDE in Christ you will bear much fruit, Abide as in staying in a "relationship" with Him. obeying Him. All Christians are "in Christ," but not all are ABIDING in Him.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross But wait, "what about the people who DON'T bear fruit, what happens to them?" you ask? Well just look a verse down, "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. (John 15:6)" Well obviously those that DO bear fruit HAVE to abide in him, but if you don't abide in him, you won't bear fruit and those that don't bear fruit are thrown "into the fire."
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 The FIRE there isn't speaking of the fires of hell. CONTEXT defines interpretation. It simply means if a believer isn't bearing fruit, and continues not to bear fruit, he is worthless to the Kingdom, just as a fruitless apple tree is good for nothing but to be burned, but sometimes may remove him (to heaven) "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away." (John 15:2)
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Also, take note of how the last verse ended, "for apart from Me you can do nothing." This shows that if YOU AREN'T in Christ, you CAN'T bear fruit. But if you are in Christ, you "bears much fruit." So, if these guys are in bars and bear no type of Christlike fruit at all, I DOUBT their born again, because NO born again Christian lives apart from Christ. Hope you read this all and I hope this clarified everything.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 ALL believers are IN CHRIST, but not all believers are ABIDING in Christ as in a RELATIONSHIP. There is a difference. I was a backslider in a bar at one point in my Christian life and the Holy Spirit NEVER left me. I was still IN CHRIST, even in the bar, but I was not ABIDING in Christ, as in a relationship with Him at the time. I NEVER lost my salvation...obviously.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross And he wasn't saying that you must continue to repent and believe to be saved, but that if you are saved, you WILL NATURALLY live a lifestyle of repentance and believing in God. This is because you 1) Hate sin and will turn from it and 2) Love God and will turn to him. And all people will ALWAYS struggle with sin so Christians are those who live against it through faith in Jesus.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@HDell1994 Have you never seen a backslider in a bar? Once a person has been born again, they don't always live a pure life, obedient to God, BUT, they are still saved. You cannot become unborn again.
disciplesofthecross 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross Hah, basically what you are saying is that when a person is born again they don't change at all. This is heresy, MAYBE those people who call themselves backsliders aren't true born again Christians. Maybe they SAY "Christ has come in the flesh" but first of all, what kind of crap is that? Are you saying that regardless of how you live your life, if you make the claim, "Christ has come in the flesh" you're born again? No, God knows your heart and THAT is what will be judged.
HDell1994 1 year ago
@disciplesofthecross And my final point, imagine someone professed faith in Jesus and had no change, they still bore the same bad fruits as before and felt no guilt for their sins to the point of turning from them. They couldn't possibly be saved because basically: Sinners 1) Won't turn from their sins daily & 2) Won't put faith in Jesus in order to turn from their sins and have a relationship with God.

If you are sincere with yourself, you can feel it.

Sad.
