Talk about being totally ripped off with no extra pay or incentives... couldn't they at least give them full retirement benefits after 5 years service or so?
In Hong Kong they retire their SDU operators (SWAT) with a payout of HK$2,000,000 (no retirement age req'd) on top of their pensions.
Yet these guys surpass SAS standards, at the extreme coal face of criminals and get fuck all for it.
I really cant believe these guys receive the same pay as non-specialised police officers....its just not right!!! They should be earning MASSIVE salaries in my opinion! KNIhokki, thanks for the vids!!! They are truly amazing!!!

I mean after passing selection, years of training and experiance, using the intellegence given to them, planning out operations and even goin undercover...they obviously didn't use any tactics at all. My advice word be to get a dictionary and look up the word TACTICS, before ripping off the people who risk their lives keeping you safe

My old English teacher at school who came to Australia from South Africa (we have a lot of white South Africans who moved here in the 80s/90s) said he was sitting at the lights, and out of no-where a guy came up with an RPG launcher and put his through his window and demanded the car. Of course he handed it over. Pretty hardcore :O
I think the SA Govt should pay them more than normal police men.. at least it might shut the housewives up for a while..however, it may also motivate the men!

Alot of these guys end up doing private contract work for the pay and their sought after experience. For the work they do, they get shit in comparison to what most other SWAT teams get in the US. Not to mention superannuation/pension plans etc.
WTF! - you can hardly get a permit for a gun here in SA - the ANC government wants to take al guns from the law-abiding, whilst doing bugger-all about guns in criminal hands - it is insanity man!
the unit is still operating i know because my brother is a member, the people that leave for Iraq they have finished their three year contract with the STF , i be soon joining the hopefully i pass
