@Rustyy444 there has been a huge revival of bands producing something a little more than the U2, Oasis, Coldplay drivel in the new millenium's rock world, can't list them all but for Floydish art rock try Porcupine Tree, Mostly Autumn, Credo, Transatlantic, Spock's Beard, IQ, Karnataka, Eureka, Anathema (latest, started metal) and many many more, for blues influenced rock search out Never the Bride, Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam, Matt Schofield, Joanne Shaw Taylor and there's more. Good luck.
@crashin1 yes it's just a bit to good to be true-but it is-throw down the sword,is just too good to be true"There were times when i stood up there so long just lookin for an answer"!
Twin Leads, one of the bands that could do this right! LONG LIVE WISHBONE!.Heard this first in 1970, while serving in Germany with the UNITED STATES ARMY> Use to put on the head sets and just become mellow.
No matter how many hundred notes per second you can play on the guitar, this solo kicks you in the nuts and then pees on you while you're in the ground crying.
Wishbone Ash & Blue Oyster Cult did annual concerts in St. Louis MO USA, always on Thanksgiving night. My recollection (admittedly, altered as it was in the original) was that Bucky Dharma & BOC provided darkness & chaos & Wishbone Ash provided light & salvation (not necessarily in that order every year). This song was part of a triptych: Warrior>Throw Down the Sword> The King Will Come but the dual guitar lead harmonies were always the highlight.
Think this remaster is so so good! There were times when I stood at death's own door only searching for an answer....awesome... good funeral song me thinks!
As macabre as it may sound, because of the powerfull lyrics and how I reconize myself in them, I've made it clear to my loved ones that, when that day comes, this song should be played at my funeral.
I remember as a teenager in the 70s hearing this album for the first time and being blown away. I think in every red blooded man, there is a hero of legend lying dormant. All you have to do is look at the album cover to realize that there is indeed something epic going on inside that sleeve. This album most certainly delivers the goods. The raw power and passion of the guitar duets are breathtakingly evocative. To summarise, this is legendary album. Thanks for the posting.
I loved this whole album. The album should be listened to from beginning to end as it is a concept album and tells a story in it's intirety, sort of like Pink Ployd's "Dark Side if the Moon".

The music, coupled with the cover image of a (Roman period?) soldier, convey thoughts and feelings of that era. It resonates with the lyrics, begging for an end to warfare and violence, and the converging solos intertwine in a sorrowful, searching cry for peace. Well, at least for me!
Aaahhhhh... High school days. We had a band in the school (they were called "Orion" - everything was so mystical at the time) and this was one of their best performances. "Baja" played the Gibson Les Paul and "Medo" played the stratocaster. My, oh my, we thought they were the BEST!
@evilschaap ...whaaaaaat???!!!! I had no uidea... i'll have to try and get their touring info for my area. How "original" is the current line up? Enjoy the show... i'm sure they wont dissapoint!
All they're missing is Justin Beiber . I can picture him all oily in loin cloth holding a sword .... belting out songs of fighting tyranny . I kid , I kid .
This was group out of the mainstream radio music and why I liked them , great songs w/ guitar playing ...
A lot of the new exibicionists guitarrist that are considered the best ever have a lot to learn with these two guitarrist that played this song.
This band is fucking great and most of the people don't see that.
By the way this was one of the bands that most influenced the style and THE band that most influenced the former of the GREATEST band EVER, IRON MAIDEN.
@Outmind01 So glad that one of the original members is the lead singer. I hate it when bands continue minus the singer ( Journey, Van Halen, Ac Dc, Black Sabbath....
Ah, the memories....what a delight to find this some 25 years after I last listened to it. Now THIS is a classic album. Ash must be one of the most melodic rock bands ever - fab tunes, rythyms and solos. Peace brothers.
I love this track and I love the imagery of the comment 'brings a castle thing in my mind' - it is true :D) the music has the power to take us to a kingdom of myth and fantasy if we care to go ...............

The music, coupled with the cover image of a (Roman period?) soldier, convey thoughts and feelings of that era. It resonates with the lyrics, begging for an end to warfare and violence, and the converging solos intertwine in a sorrowful, searching cry for peace. Well, at least for me!

@buellosaurusrex The album cover depicts a Spartan soldier observing a UFO. Argus was voted album of the year in 1972.

Aaahhhhh... High school days. We had a band in the school (they were called "Orion" - everything was so mystical at the time) and this was one of their best performances. "Baja" played the Gibson Les Paul and "Medo" played the stratocaster. My, oh my, we thought they were the BEST!

All they're missing is Justin Beiber . I can picture him all oily in loin cloth holding a sword .... belting out songs of fighting tyranny . I kid , I kid .
This was group out of the mainstream radio music and why I liked them , great songs w/ guitar playing ...

@franz909 Anyone who mentions that name in any context on a thread that has nothing to do with said person is a troll as far as I'm concerned.

UP THE IRONS!
and Long Live to Wisbone Ash.
