That is so cute. Mine are smart too in different ways. One of them seems to understand when I stick my hand in the cage to do something and she is in the way, I say "excuse me" and she quickly moves away, like she understands what that means. It cracks me up. My other one doesn't do that. She also seems to figure out how to go a different way if she can't go one way. I see her stop and think for a moment....then go. It's so cute.

Rodents may not be the smartest of mammals, but I swear they have a truly amazing ability to learn if you take the time. Hell, I used to have a mouse named Picasso (though it was a girl, lol) and in a few months, she was riding on my shoulder, my pocket, atop my head, or in the palm of my hand. She's nibble gently on my ear for attention and would travel all over the house in her ball.

She lived two whole years before finally dieing.

A guinea pigs basic diet must consist of timothy hay pellets and hay. A tablespoon of veg per guinea pig per day for vitamin C. :) hope this helps

I started by ringing the bell everytime before I gave them a treat or their pellets. They recognized the bell for food pretty fast. Then they started squeaking and running over to the door for a treat everytime I did it. Eventually they took matters into their own paws and rang it on their own! They are smart because they pick up all of the phrases I say before giving them a treat and then squeak when I say them. Piggies will do ANYTHING for food!

He might be trying to tell you he has to go pee. Lol. My piggies do that to when I have them out for a while. My one piggie doesn't like to be out too long so she will pull on my shirt to let me know it's time to go up.

We have coroplast on the floors and cover it with fleece so it's soft on their toes.8-)

Try making the stairs not as steep (sp?). They seem to have problems climbing up them when they are like that.

I wanted to name Sweet Pea Buttercup but my hubby didn't like it. Lol. Lots of people like to name their pets after sweets. It sounds real cute. I usually like names ending in a "y" or "ie" for some reason. They just sound cute and roll off the tongue. I always call "Smores", "Smories" now. Lol. It helps to see the personality also. Hmm, for some reason Snickerdoodle popped in my mind. Lol. I think that's another sweet yet again.

Hi Madison,

That's okay, no problem. I measured it out so I could get a better visual to be sure. I'm pretty sure piggies are full grown by 20 weeks. That's not a horrible size if you are going to let them run around outside the cage often. Did you already buy the cage? If not, I would go with a bigger one. You should check out C&C cages. They are the best and way cheaper since you make them on your own.

The bigger the cage, the better. Guineas love to sprint around so lots of extra space is greatly appreciated by them.

I would say at least 7.5 sq ft but

10.5 sq feet is much better. My cage is wayyy bigger than that and my girls love it.

Hi,

I got their cage from a seller on Ebay. She supplies everything and includes instructions on how to put it together.

It's much easier because the ramp and doors were already done. I had no idea how to do a ramp before this too.

I ordered this cage many years ago so I don't remember the seller's name. You can just check under guinea pig cages.

Yes, I think your piggies would love the cage. They love laying on soft towels and fleece. Mine sleep underneath them. You just see this bulge from under the towels and know they are taking a nap. LOL.

I actually bought the cage from a lady on ebay. She makes them and gives directions on how to put it together.

The floor is C&C cubes covered w/ coroplast. I don't know where she got the ramp from but it has a curved part that you set it down into the floor. We secured it w/ zip ties and put fleece down so it was comfortable on their feet. Hope this helps somewhat.
