This is from the (Fall) 1985 marching season, Perry's first year as band director. Drum major was Rick Lund. We won everything that night, I believe. Well, Drum Sweepstakes, anyway. The best part of that evening was receiving that trophy and marching back past Los Altos' Drum Cpt.s grinning. Petty, yes, but a fond memory nonetheless.
Wow, I graduated in 1983, the fanfare and "Big Noise at Winetka" was almost the same as when we did it with Gary Locke. Who was the drum major that year, I wonder? Kristi & Toni were the year before. Thank you for sharing this.
The drum major was either Shannon Beers or David Gibson. The succession was Eric Berkvist, Shannon Beers, David Gibson, Krisi Lund & Toni Tracy I believe.

Perry Hall was the director. Now it makes sense why the show is very familiar. He was good friends with Gary Locke.

As for trombones, Alex Henderson was the first trombone solo for BSR when we played "Malaga" in 1982.

The first BSR trombone duet was Chris Atlas & Alex Henderson playing Sophisticated Ladies.
