The risk versus reward scenario applies to all situations depending on the skill level of each rider. This situation shown is something that a high skilled rider would do without hesitation in a race situation. A lower skill rider, with not as good an execution, would still do the same technique but in a situation that wasn't as advanced. It's all relative.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool thanks for your reply im a first year hare scramble racer and i race the c class. honestly im not willing to take that risk in a race situation. if i could size it up and see the braking bumps would work i might do it but im very hesitant when it comes to a trail that i have never seen before.
