Hey, would love it if you guys could check out my snorricam mount in action... thanks to youtube not allowing links search 'caught university of the arts london' and its the top video.
cont.: and the strength of the material itself may come into question, depending on the edge distance of the slot. I guss it all comes down to how frequently/quickly you would need adjustments.
Just a suggestion. Check out my channel if you get a few minutes. Thanx...T
@YorksOwn I really wanted the rig to be adjustable without any tools, so the pre-drilled holes work well for my design. If I were to commercialize this design, a more precise adjustment to the arms would be needed. Again, I built this snorricam for my own needs, which were basically to be cheap, easily adjustable, and needed to be built quickly.
Hi there; awesome rig. If I may make a suggestion to increase your adjustability: on your adjustment radial arcs, as opposed to 'preset' holes which require you to remove the hardware to adjust, could you make one or two arced slots thereby allowing you to just loosen the hardware, make the degree adjustment, then re-tighten the hardware. I realize this will make actual mnfctr a bit more difficult ...
@RaptureRiddimz You'll have to build it yourself or commission someone to build it for you. A link to the plans can be found in the video description.
@twistedsolomanboy It's not too heavy, probably 15-20 lbs. It probably wouldn't make you sink, considering that it's mostly made of wood and wood floats in water, but it definitely is not easy to take off. The straps have little tension clips that can be loosened by pulling on a lever on the clip.
what kind of Camera Mount Head did you use? Trying to fly a Panasonic DVX100 on this and want to get something thats weight appropriate while still being cost effective.
I saw Indy Mogul's tutorial on how to make a snorricam, and I wanted to make one, but I didn't really like the design. Then I saw yours, and now I'm almost finished with mine! Thanks for creating the better version. :) I'll probably upload a test-film tomorrow or the day after.
Hey... I always wondered... why mount the camera way out there? Why not mount the camera on the chest and boom a mirror. The mirror would be able to frame the same picture with half the distance and thus shake less. The weight would also be a lot less of an effect on the actor.
With a mirror, you have to worry about mirror shake and having a perfectly clean mirror (free of imperfections). I don't see why you couldn't do that, but i'm not sure how that would affect the actual shot.
I made my snorricam for a videoclip by following your instructions! It´s fantastic. Thanks Mwing4890!

Time to steal some wood and shit from the DT department at school..... XD but do you have to build it or can you buy the rig somewhere?

how heavy is it. if you were filming near water, if you fell in, would it make you sink as it look like it doesn't come off easy

why would use a snorri cam to take a video out anything but the actor.. defeats the purpose as you can just handhold.. ...

Um.... the quick release plate/ tripod head is from a Manfrotto monopod. Other than that I don't have any more information. Hope that helps.

thanks for putting this up.
It is much better than Indy Mogul's design.

Thanks! It was really weird seeing a similar design form Indy Mogul, especially since they were built around the same time.

Let me know if you build one like that.
