Quite the contrary... Despite the fact engineers will be assholes, if you are fighting another helicopter, you ALWAYS want to be higher. It's the uphill advantage. However, when you do have the choppers in check, then yes; always stay low.
Gunner: Stealth/IR FLARES/Guided or tv missile. The ecm will disable lock long enough for flares to reset, which will make it impossible for heat seekers to take you down. You can bring a whole team of stingers, if you have flares and jammer you wont fail. only way to die is soflam and bullets. i did this with my friend (hes the gunner) and he got 70 kills, 12k score. i got around 20 kills, 8k score
I use my mouse wheel to switch between weapons for anything. its way better than hitting 1,2,3,4,5... and the "feet" on the bottom of the heli are called skids.
So, from what I saw, The Viper needs to land parallel to the ground so the tail doesn't hit the ground, and no damage is taken. The Havoc however, has a third wheel on the tail (so the tail itself doesn't hit the ground) Does this third wheel count as part of the havoc's body? (will it take damage if the third wheel hits the ground while landing)
@IBelongToBadCompany I don't think so, this might explain why the Havoc looks less stable when doing a hard landing, but seems to have a higher success rate and you have more freedom in the pitch.
@fallowsword Not saying you can't, I've done it before (in this video, as you can see, I capped all those flags in the chopper), but being that vulnerable in an attack helicopter is not ideal... at all... ever. You're low enough for engineers to fire their RPG and SMAW's at you, low enough for tanks to get a clear shot, possibly enough for someone to snipe you out of the pilot seat. Your job is to back your infantry and armour up by making their jobs 10x easier, not to cap flags.
@fallowsword Yeah, should have mentioned this. It isn't so much 'third person' as it is a secondary first person view, where the actual character in the second seat takes his eyes away from the gunner camera.
Just want to point out that the bar doesn't show the strain on the helicopter blades but just shows your altitude above any object you're over. That's why it was fluctuating like crazy when you were flying over the hangar.
@Nnexxxx Ah, I see. Most of the stuff I ignore anyway, so I only had a vague idea of what it does. Like I said, the most important things are the pitch and gunner indicators, the rest isn't too useful when you're flying around.
@lochdhu I've only ever been hit by this twice. Hitting the ECM and then locating a stationary armoured vehicle in an area with lots of open space isn't too tough.
@OshiSeven on this same map me and my squad (one repairing, and one Lasing targets) took out 18 Helis last night with the CITV. granted we lost the round by 9 tickets, but we still owned the Air.
great video. thank you! didn't know you could use F to switch weapons - don't worry, I click E too many times when reaching for 1 and 2. again thanks!
@OriginalNinjaWaffle Yeah, Attack Helicopters are different than all other vehicles, especially in the sense that the most lethal person in the chopper is the passenger, not the pilot. Too many people assume the pilot is the star of the show, which isn't the case.
Also takes more skill to use a chopper on xbox. XD

if you want to learn flying in bf3, there is nothing like that in campaign, bit of a shame :/

One of the biggest keys to succes with choppers:
Pilot: Guided rockets/ECM jammer/heat seekers
Gunner: Stealth/IR FLARES/Guided or tv missile. The ecm will disable lock long enough for flares to reset, which will make it impossible for heat seekers to take you down. You can bring a whole team of stingers, if you have flares and jammer you wont fail. only way to die is soflam and bullets. i did this with my friend (hes the gunner) and he got 70 kills, 12k score. i got around 20 kills, 8k score

@tjw2598 I think so, yeah. PC has Conquest Large, which is different. There are also jets.
OshiSeven 2 days ago
@tjw2598 Pc conquest is called conquest 64, so there are more vehicles on the maps than the consoles.
