@Shanekoi maybe or you can sell it to breeders there are many factors that affect pricing of the koi but who knows it might fetch more or less 1million yen
For the person who said GOLD FISH they are not gold fish the are KOI FISH... they are in the same family with gold fish but are a lot of better because they grow bigger and can sell for a lot more..
@nanami8617 senman en is written as 千万円. in japanese, 10 thousand is 1 "man". so 10 "man" is 100 thousand. so it's not 10 million yen. those fish are expensive but not sooo expensive. 1000 eur is the price you expect from those fish. when imported into europe their price raises to around 1500 to 2000 eur.
if those fish have won any prize, add another '0' to the figures.
@shakes53 no normal gold fish dont grow as big as koi, they are a seperate species althought still the same family (carp). Goldfish can grow to max of about 3 or 4 lbs whereas kois can grow to over 30lbs. hope that helped.
@HungQDang Ok that makes more sense. But still, that's really expensive. Don't get me wrong, these Koi are beautiful but I don't see how its worth spending that much for a 5 foot fish
the clip is from a bbc documentry , it was called fish, a japanese obsession . I remember it as i was the english dealer who came into the breeders premises .
the clip is from a documentry , it was called fish -a japanese obsession . I remember it as i was the ebglish dealer who came into the breeders premises .
My Ogon is swimming with only his starboard fins I think it is because he is trying to adjust to the new temperatures of my barrel pond. As the temps have just dropped also dramtically in sunny London town.
I now have a couple of Nishikigoi. Asagi and golden Ogon. I also have a gold fish that looks just like a Tancho without the characteristic barbels hehe
@lilfox0308 You wana try goin to Uganda, East Africa and check out the local Nile fish. The King Kong of fresh water fish. Plus they taste quite nice as well on a plate of chips :-)
Hi there! This youtube clip was part of a larger documentary on Japan in general (I think for the BBC, but I'm beginning to forget now). So sadly this was the only part about Koi!
if i lived in a all year round warm climate place.. the first thing i would do is make a gigantic pond and fill it up with kois and watch them grow = )
i live in philippines.. when i go to pasig river saw many koi.. wow!!! they breed and breed until they invade to our river.. ther are soo very colorfull.. ohh my god.. thats why i never buy koi for my pond coz i only git koi in the pasig river... just go to philippines and u will see it.. how clean our river and how many fish koi u see.. u must see to believe it...
@MDcoolst Poor? These fish are the richest fish of all. The premium for their selective breeding and captive environment is an extremely long life pampered to the fullest. Poor fish my ass!
i live in australia and my local river which is 2 minutes walk away, is filled to the brim with these things, they are all very similar to these ones except theres more red colourations than oranges. i was down there a week ago and one of them actually swam onto my foot. Their numbers there are rather surprising. If i stand on the shore for a MAXIMUM of 3 minutes, i will see one. the water in this river is clear. after seeing this im thinking about making a pond in my backyard and breeding some.
I live in Casino northern New South Wales, I just realised how big the fish in this video actually are. We have recently had a constant strain of floods and I haven't been able to have a look for one for a while because it has seriously been dirty and fast for about 3 weeks. I also think that the biggest flood which was over 10 metres may have flushed them out, anxious to go have a look.
@dbelleparkour What part of Australia do you live? Can you give me exact suburb? I would really love to see these fish, I have never seen any but I have loved Koi for years, I am hoping I live some where near the place you speak of.
Stupid laws indeed. I'd rather deter them with electricity than resort to more permanent deterrents. I can't believe its still illegal to shoot cormorants (the black death) even when they are slicing your fish to pieces without a license. My advice - don't bother waiting for a license, just hide the body well.
its not illegal to shoot cormorants, well it is and it isnt, your allowed to shoot cormorants but only 2 a month a think it is, but you shoot any more then you get into bother even with a licence. best way to keep otters out is to put otter fencing up, its several foot high which is impossible for the otters to climb over and it curls under towards where the otters are, a bit like a rabbit fence to stop them digging under the fence.
I still choose to hide the bodies, just in case.....I had considered using a 'proper' otter fence but it would have been too intrusive and made the pond look like a concentration camp.
if you want to no the best way to get rid of otters then set a pack of rottweilers or allsations on it and say they was walking off the lead so you couldnt stop them haah

this is a regular pricing yout get from breeders' farm. not expensive.
