Astrology is the first true religion, this is correct. People used to believe the universe was cyclical and that the aligment of stars and planets affected our lives. It's also why people kept accurate records of the locations of planets and stars (a good thing which helped lead to astronomy) and why court astrologers were killed whenever a comet appeared out of nowhere (also a good thing as there was a price to pay for being a bullshitting leech)
