It's a $30-$50 machine, it'd be smarter for the owner to press charges.

I have this exact machine. The lock is very weak, you can twist it off with a normal flathead screwdriver. Once it's opened there's a handle on top. You can lift the whole bucket of candy out of it and carry it around. Then the place where the quarters go is revealed, which can hold a large sum. You can even take the coin mechanism, which is held in place by only one screw. You can make off with quite a lot doing this.
