I remember getting stuck for hours in some levels like road to nowhere, sunset vista and slippery climb among others. You got to the endgame and after all the trouble, you are welcome to break at the end.

Even though Cortex is much more evil the old games, he's still pretty easy. In fact, I find it ironic how N. Brio and N. Gin are much harder than him and they are the secound-to-last boss in Crash 1 and Crash 2 and 3 respectivley.

Cortex was hard in Crash 1, not as hard as Crash 3 but in Crash 2 he was too fucking easy. Brio was harder than Cortex though. This was my very first PS1 game back in 97, me and my brother struggled getting 100% but after months of patience we did it.

This game was hard but not as hard as Tekken, Heihachi was almost impossible. Cortex does look like Heihachi :)

Crash 2's ending takes place after the not 100% ending. Crash 3's opening takes place after the 100% ending of Crash 2.

Jesus! Cortex was such a wimp compared to brio. it took me 12 lives to beat brio, after i figured out that you have to spin back the green ones, i beat him in 1 try. In crash 2 i can beat him before the halfway point in the tunnel, and in crash 3 i can just jump around and spin randomly and still win. i find that the 3rd and 4th bosses are the most challenging/fun of the game and the ffinal boss is just as weak as the first one.

I gotta say, even though the first fight against Cortex isn't very hard, I prefer it to all other ones because of its... almost epic... atmosphere. The "Darn you, Crash Bandicoot!" line, his badass laugh all along, the burning castle in the background and Cortex's theme music, which is also darker than in the later games. Love it!

I'd like to play the game through again, but I'm stuck to the level "Road To Nowhere" T_T

That's right. In Crash 1, they had only one voice actor (Brendan O'Brien) for all the characters (including the bosses sounds). Clancy Brown took over for Cortex while O'Brien voiced Crash, N. Brio, N. Gin and the other bosses in 2.
