Unfortunately yes. Today other countries believe in other pathetic nonsense. It does not end until we fightour worst enemy.... the enemy within ourselves.

I am sorry but.... did you mean "plainly"?

  • @VikyCelta

LOL... And I wondered what "planly" could mean in this context.

    No problem.

  • Lots happening in this scene. For one, it's a satire of "Triumph of the Will."

Also, you have the Bavarian "Badenweiler Marsch" that was co-opted by the Nazis because it was allegedly a favorite of Hitler.

Whenever Hitler made an entrance, the "Badenweiler Marsch" was played.

Irony is that "The Blue Danube" that totally disrupts the rally in this scene, is by Austrian Strauss.

And, of course, Hitler was an Austrian.

Excellent scene from an excellent film based on an excellent novel.

  • Definitely "Badenweiler Marsch"

being played before little Oskar gets it switched to "An der schönen blauen Donau" ("The Blue Danube") by Johann Strauss II.

  • one thing i dont get is why they started to play that song

  • sehr schöne szene.

  • der Film ist komisch :) ^^

  • David Bennent ist einfach genial in diesem Film!Ich hab in Google gelesen

dass er spaeter auch noch in diversen

Filmen mitgespielt hat!Tausend dank fuers hochladen!

  • dummer Bengel!

  • sieg zerstörung!

  • einer der besten deutschen filme.

    grandios.

  • cool!!!!!!!

  • Please help-what is the song Oskar manipulates the rally to start playing? I love it-can't find the title of it and I've heard the tune many, many times before!

  • I don't know what it is either, and would love to know. Seems a typical Teutonic military march.

  • Unless you mean what he gets them to play, which I now suspect you do. That's 'An der schönen blauen Donau' by Johann Strauss. Known in English as 'The Blue Danube'.

  • @marmadukesymesparker the tune they begin to play is "the Badenweiler march" (which was Hitler's favorite march) and this changes, as you said to the blue danube.

  • I believe it is 'Koniggratzer Marsch'

  • Actually-it's 'Badenweiler Marsch'...

  • @88riddles Badenweiler March

  • @88riddles its the "Badenweiler Marsch"

  • the book is fantastic and the kid is amazing !

  • Odd-looking kid.
