This is really cool cool game the read text file is in C: program files in folder RogueSynapse to get Death Blossom active just press 0 and select it in the menu simple
@KaitainCPS were you able to actuly play this i downloaded installed and all it dose is say insert coin.how do you control it. just in case talking about the last starfighter game
I played this and enjoyed it but the screen kept flashing white randomly which kind of distracted me...is it because of Windows 7 or is this to recreate something from the movie?
I played this game and later on a guy turned up in a futuristic car and told me he was the representative for some interstellar star empire, and that the game was actually an elaborate way of scouting out new elite pilots for their starfighter corps. Awesome!
So I get in his space car hoping to embark on a life-changing adventure as I trained to battle hordes of ruthless aliens across the starry cosmos.
That was when he pulled a knife on me and told me to take off all my clothes. :(
@ancalites sorry about that I tend to frequent trailer parks looking for kids who fall for this. I tell them I am Rylos, get them all excited, they get in my delorien with a few mods and before you can say Zandozan I give them my Xenon Mist....sorry but its just so easy to find guys as dumb as Alex.
@ancalites Well, you don't expect to be a Starfighter wearing your sweats and an Oakland A'a baseball cap do you? He told you right to take off your clothes. I would trade mine in for full Starfighter regalia. Looks like the game played you into a nightmare that you made come true in your head. Xur's mindtrap on the game certainly worked well on you as you seemingly were thwarted in becoming a Starfighter!!! With gas prices increasing - I'm darn well glad I have a GunStar!!!
This was a really cool game! I have to give props to Rogue Synapse for making the game so accurate to the one shown in the movie. Hell, it even has the same sound effects! I'd love to play this on an actual arcade machine like the one in the movie, but for the time being my Sega Saturn USB pad will have to suffice.
@EpsilonEagle123 Every The Last Starfighter fan would like to put their hands on the actual arcade. However, Atari, the developer of the game, didn't take it beyond the prototype stage.
Man thats pimp! i remember as a kid wanting to play this game something fierce, only to be let down when i found out it was never released. Nice to see someone decided to do what atari would not.
It doesnt work for vista 64 bit, dam... Why does that always happen to me, im a retro gamer by heart, and this peice of shit vista wont run any of my fave games... S o b on bill for that one..
Just wait till Windows 7 at the end of October. It should run with no problem then. Windows 7 is being touted as what Vista SHOULD have been in the first place and so far from what I have been hearing it works really well.
I just downloaded it just now and they mention on the site that you need a dll file from microsofts website to run it. The specific file is d3drm.dll. Just google it and you should be able to download it. Just remember to place it into the executable file for the game itself and you should be good to go. I know it works because I got it to work shortly after downloading the file.
Atari made *A* game called The Last Starfighter, but it wasn't anything like the game in the film. They did eventually release it as Star Raiders II, with the Last Starfighter elements removed.
Not exactly. That was the Atari 800 and Atari 5200 version. There was also supposed to be an arcade version, that was made but never released because it would cost $10000 per unit and Atari decided it was too expensive. You can see some gameplay from the REAL arcade version here: watch?v=ghjjeZpoKLI
You CAN play it! This is a freeware game made by RogueSynapse (do a Google search). They're a group who have decided to create real versions of fictional video games featured in movies. Unfortunately, their projects seem to be stalled at the moment, but The Last Starfighter is fully playable.
This game is bad ass! I couldn't get used to the controls using a laptop keyboard, but I will!

@KaitainCPS You think this version's hard? Try the NES version, it makes this one look like cake.
Doommaster1994 9 months ago
@Doommaster1994
The NES version is just a slightly tweaked version of Andrew Braybrook's "Uridium" for the C64. They licenced it and changed a few of the graphics.

@KaitainCPS Oh I know. To me it's probably the hardest game I've ever played.

You can just google the name of that file and you will find it. Insert it in the same directory as the game executable.

This would be a cool game to play. It would be even cooler if Atari came up with a Starfighter game with the graphics of some of todays games.
sbcmarine81 3 years ago
This is exactly what was in the movie - And Atari DID make the game for its machines back in the 80's, it just never got released.
But while watching this vid, i was half expecting it to cit to the various people watching alex (and the theme tune cutting in)!
