I understand that you was agreeing with me, I was just making an attempt to point out why I feel it's wrong for someone to just claim that ALL of one country is a certain way, just like how it's wrong to say that all of one race is a certain way.... regardless of terms used. Our media does not represent Americans as a whole, at least I'd like to think they don't. We have a thing called the Constitution that most members of our government have knowingly ignored not to mention basic human morals.

@LordKaisen uh hello? to you. First, dropping on a military base is justified and not a war crime because it is an attack on soldiers. Killing 250,000 ++ innocent civilians from the bomb and later radiation is a war crime and was unnecessary. Second, the Japanese government didn't know how many bombs the US had, so that point is irrelevant. Fact, the US wanted to show the Soviets it had the bomb and how devastating it was. Fact, the US alternative, legitimate targets existed. Very weak excuse.

Sure, the US spent $2 trillion ++ on the wars, and that money was spent for oil as well as for your military industrial complex. I agree with those that say Carter is the father of modern terrorism. His failure to deal with Iran in the 70's is leading to the nuclear war that we may be involve in shortly. I used to believe that he was a poor president, but a great ex-president. That was untl just the last few years when he has gotten too senile to just keep his mouth shut. I cannot believe that he has the gall to believe anybody wants his advice.

Well, if that were true then why didn't they drop the first one on either an uninhabitated area or on a military base only so that the Japanese could witness its destruction. Then, failing surrender, drop a second on a farming or village area to finally convince them. Not on a huge city. Racist experiment.

@rosemaya48 We shouldn't have dropped any nuclear weapons that's cowardly. We should have stood toe to toe and fought them like men. I would rather have died fighting the Japanese if I had been alive in 1945 than to have won the way we did. I respect any country that wants to engage us in war and don't condone resorting to cowardly measures. Because of our nukes Japan now doesn't even have the dignity of an army. We basically conquered them but allowed to retain control of the area.

@rosemaya48 Because communication wasn't remotely that good back then. They did not even notice that they had lost one of the city's until they went to check why they suddenly had a communications blackout in the area. Detonate it in a unpopulated area, and the Japanese wouldn't have noticed it at all and simply moved on. And dropping it on a small village wouldn't have fazed them either. They needed big targets to show the Japanese how powerful weapons they were dealing with.

@twocentsin6 Apparently you didn't read the comments of the person I replied to, we could have bombed strictly military bases, believe me when the Japanese saw the destruction our bombs did they would have surrendered.
