@rs200000000000 They are known to be bullet proof, but i had problems with mine, sludge issue causing me to get a new engine, auto box failure as well and the DI cassette which caused fuel to go through the system and melt the cat. The engine and gearbox covered by warrenty and I had to replace the DI cassette myself. With the cat being melted, new OEM are quite expensive, so i opted to get an Abbott Racin exhaust includin a 3" downpipe and sports cat with a full system.
These engines have notorious vacuum/breather hose problems. If you do plenty of short journeys or don't change the oil with a rinse with decent stuff every 6k expect to have to replace pretty much all the hoses every 3 years! Bit of a bugger for some of them (as looks like you have found out) but worth the effort :D
@rkjer There was a boost problem, also misfiring on the 3rd cylinder at the time the video was made, the vac hoses had not been fitted properly by a garage but i found the problem and had some work don on the head, but thanks for the heads up on the boost control valve, somethin i think i need to address :)
I can tell you right now you have a boost problem. There is a set of 2 way valves running on the evap system and most people bypass this by doing the "bolt mod" which is simply just blocking off the top tube on the boost control valve. But your boost is not even in the red. This is a VERY common problem that can be solved with a BOLT and 2 minutes of your time. Check out my videos for more info.
are they reliable im looking at a aero hot wagon with about 87000 on the clock looks well clean but ive never had a saab before

Those valves often go bad before 40,000 miles and are almost impossible to replace
