Ordered one from a mail order catalog once but it was only a sprig and died immediately. Note: the one I just bought makes the whole room smell like insecticide so I will probably return it 2 c if I can find one that's less smelly. Does anyone know if that smell is normal for that plant?

For those asking where you can get one: I just bought a little flytrap at Lowe's Home Improvement. Walmart has them sometimes, or just check any nursury. You can also, of course, order one online. The bad thing about them is that they are very picky plants, and it's best to do your research before you get one.

@Snigdha0721 - I know how you feel, but everything has to eat to live, or at least to take energy. Venus fly traps can't get enough energy out of their native soil, so they have to consume insects. If you don't feed the fly trap, then IT dies.

@MrEarthman123 yea basicly you do have to water it but put it in a saucer for it to suck it up you have to feed it ocasionly but the trap take 5-10 days to open back up and you dont feed all the traps just one or two because they use up so much energy if you do all of them at once it will die hope this info is valueable to you
