If you're interested in learning Italian, French and Romanian I would do French first. It's pretty hard for a Romance language and after you know that it's a lot easier to learn the others. I learnt French first and started Italian afterwards. I'm not a talented language learner by any means but Italian comes very quickly after French because a lot of it is so similar. The spelling is more phonetic and the grammar's more regular.

My German's bad though so can't help there. Sorry. Good luck.

Hello Amanda. I have started with a cd and book, then I learned with a private teacher, now I live for about two years in Germany. I keep on learning everyday and the german people are quite impressed with my german!. One more thing: I have learned that learning a language take the whole life, because languages are alive thru the people that speak them. So Kopf hoch! und Viel Arbeit!.

I hear ya. I've been 'trying' to teach myself German for about 3 years now. which is hard because it would be much easier with someone who speaks it fluently to sit with me and practice with me. It's not easy trying to learn from books and software programs.

Perhaps take a trip to Germany itself. Hearing it makes it a little easier.
