The tuning is VESTAPOL - in this case, D Major. VESTAPOL describes the voicing, as opposed to the key. You can use VESTAPOL by tuning your A string up to B, your D string up to E and your G string up to to F# - resulting in an E Major tuning.
I also use DADGAD regularly. So for VESTAPOL I drop my low E to a D, my G to an F#, my B to an A and my high E to a D - resulting in a D major chord.

Think of it as DADGAD with an F# instead of a G.
