Neither is 'Hymn to The Fallen' Classical Music. Nor the 'Superman' theme. Nor the 'Star Wars' theme. They are becoming Classics. Classical music isn't typed becasue it's old, it's typed because it became Classic. Because people wanted it that way. Mosquitoes were featured in 633 Squadron, but the music suits any flying video. That's why it's becoming a 'Classic'.
This is not classical music. It is the theme to the movie 633 Squadron by Ron Goodwin, who composed many stirring film themes such as Where Eagles Dare, Operation Crossbow and the Battle of Britain. The planes in this movie are not spitfires by de havilland mosquitos.
I'll take your word on the planes, but 633 Squadron is undoubtedly classical music. Its young age (relative to the classical canon) or association with a film, surely doesn't change its genre?
Yup 633 alright, without a doubt george lucas got his death star scene watching this film!! AMAZING FILM, but in star wars a couple survived.... 633 they didn,t...
Good quote! However, if you want to get technical about it, "3 crews ditched in the fiord..." and, of course, Cliff Robertson's navigator also survived. The funny part about Star wars is that Lucas saw the fiord attack scene in "Mosquito Squadron" with Robert MacCallum (aka Illia Kuriakin)- that movie completely ripped off all of the flying scenes from "633 Squadron."
Yup, mosquito squadron was a complete rip of 633, many scenes were taken from it. George Lucas obviously knows a good film when he see's one. The mossie is one hell of a beauty!! Superb film. Your right about "3 ditching in fjord" thats 6 crew, plus cliffs navigator so thats 7 out of erm.... 30? plus the guy who got burned when flying with cliff earlier if that counts
The only part I did not like was Chakiris doring the flying scenes. he looked completely at a loss how he supposed to behave in the cockpit. I a few month ago I run into a webpage of an association trying to restore a Mossie to a flying condition. Sadly, they folded in 2005 after 5 years of efforts...
here (UK) were trying to restor quite a few a believe, but only one sounds like a good bet. Remember it coming here to blackpool on many occasions. Beauty! shame the governement won't partly fund it.
The Classical music is performed by the RR lump at the front.
