If you have that much paint left on the surface on an "upstroke" you simply have too much paint on the surface. Spread the paint out more and you won't have puddled paint. You also don't need to "throw" your idle paint brush in a bucket of water because you can't resume painting with a flooded brush! If you expect to come back and paint a short time later, wrap a damp rag around the bristles and place it in an empty plastic bread or grocery bag.

I've been looking at 30-40 how-to videos now, and this is the first and only one which actually tells what I as a beginner need to know!! Excellent job!! The strokes, the shallow container, the loading technique... I had no idea about those, and no other video has mentioned them. Now I'm going down into the basement confident that I am not going to mess it up. Thanks!!

@holtappl THANKS. I really should have my own TV show. Remember that I do these videos with about 99.9% one take and I do not edit any of my videos. I am glad they helped you. So many painters on youtube make the video about THEM instead of actually teaching someone to paint correctly. It makes me feel good that I helped someone. RH DSD

Most of those teleprompter guys never painted anything. I like to post my personal views with no BS. Sure , I might add a little humor. We need more Older people on Youtube showing the newer generations how it is done.

This video like all your vids is informative, I personally like your no bs down to earth delivery. We can all watch the attractive HGTV types who rehearse and seem to read from a teleprompter and not tell you the reality of how to get a project done. The ending on an upstroke was an excellent tip. Keep them coming!

It' an art. It's not a sentence! Really. Sentence. Let reach and possibly go with...... Oh I don't know, science. Loading a brush is dipping no more than 1/3 the bristles the tapping on either side of the brush to "load" the inner bristles with paint. But hey what ever works. Right. Sentence. Lmao. That was funny.

#OMG i read "paint brush" and was thinking what the hell do you know how to do paint brush cause i have done it for awhile just for fun.....then when i saw the video it was about painting WITH a brush and i already know how to do it as i have worked as a painter a couple of years ago lol
