  • Love it, sounds just right

  • @StinkyPheet oh definitely...my dad had an '88 f250 with a 300 with a 5spd tranny in it never did any work on the motor it self only thing he ever did to that truck was change the slave cylinder on the tranny.....the entire truck fell apart and lost reverse and we could feel 3rd 4th and 5th goin so we snatched the motor out and scrapped the rest...the motor is still in damn good condition

  • Damn, what happened to the #4 header tube man? Ouch. Car Sounds great BTW!

  • @Smallblocksix Thats where the two-piece header joins together. When the headers are out, one set has 3 1/2 pipes which joins together like a sleeve with the second set which is 2 1/2 pipes. In other words, That spot you see is the union of the two headers...one female, one male. There is a minor leak around that spot, which might be cured by a hose clamo of some form, but it sounds fine....just leaves a little soot there at the joint.

  • are they the Clifford header? hooker header?

  • @WWFstunna13 These are Hookers....

  • @78Revolutions hey i was wondering if you have a drive by video or take off? your car sounds awesome. it may sound deeper because its in an inclosed area. if it was sittin on the street it may sound a little lighter. but your car sounds awesome.

  • iv got a 66 falcon but its got a 351 cleveland with 4 double carbs on wicked

  • FORD HAS A 250 /300 L-6

  • I heard of a guy shoehorning a 300 ci straight six out of a ford pickup into his falcon. I've always wanted to do that... As great and convienient a 5.0 V8 would be, i just love a good straight 6. I dont know an awful lot about the 170, though.

  • @xsonz2 Yup, Ive seen that...but its not an easy drop-in the way 170/200 is. I once bought an I6 out of a maverick once that was a 250 I think and it wasnt a direct fit either. I think the 250 and 300 were taller and have clearance issues...

  • @78Revolutions 250 is the Chevy straight 6 not Ford

  • @2waystreet15 Ford has an I6 250. First used in 1970, I've had one.

  • @78Revolutions I have a 69 stang with a 250, it was an option, a 26 dollar one, in fact.

  • My first car was a 2 door 1966 Ford Falcon with a 170 c.i. straight 6. It had a column-shifted 3 speed. I was owner #17 ( mainly high scool age like me at the time ). It had one more owner after me.

  • did you use the port divider for #3 and #4 exhaust ports?

  • @heyLeesComet Nah. this was not a performance upgrade. The old exhaust was bad front to back. I figurd If I was going to pull the manifold, do something different. The poret divider required welcing and getting into way more work than the one-day worth of work I was doing to get the car back on the road.

  • that sounds soo good man, is that the header where it splits the three front and back three cylinders into 2 outlets? very nice tone, planin on doin exactly that soon.

  • @heyLeesComet That is correct, Although without the port divider, the 3 and 4 are sort of one big port...but I didnt want to get that involved with it , since it wasnt really a performance related mod for me

  • i just bought a '66 falcon for $500. someone stole the radiator in it before i bought it so i need to put one in. once i get that and a new paint job ill be rollin

  • lol.. Damn you and your extra engine bay clearance! :) I have a 66 Fairlane with a 351w and things are a little tight between the headers and the shock towers. Thank god I decided not to throw a 460 in.. Anyways you did a great job. Car sounds great.

  • I gotta tell ya-this video made me stick to my guns on the exhaust for my Falcon. No headers, a2-4 split manifold but OMG does it sound good. Same flowmasters you have and 2" pipes. LOVE IT!! THanks!!

  • Nice car. Did you make the brakelines for the dual Res. Master cylinder? I want to do it to my 66 falcon.

  • @rbroderi Yes, I did, But when I got your message, it occurred to me that I did this over 13 years ago. It was a 'temporary' set of lines a tthe time and I never replaced them. This car I did myself, but it isnt done properly. I didnt put a prop valve on it. When I had my 66 Merc and 62 Falcon done, They were done properly with prop valves. Its time I re-do this car. And you are wise to do this conversion, It could save your life.

  • I love the way your car sounds. i have a ford pickup w/240 inline. i got my hands on a split manifold and plan to run flowmasters. are yours 2chamber 40 series?

  • @tgilliland4841 Yes they are. I thought I had put the part numbers in the vid, but apparently not! Ill have to do that this summer...

  • It sounds beautiful! :)

I'm thinking about getting a 1966 Ford Falcon as my first car... super excited!

  • @Jamie2256 Thanks very much. The 66 Falcon (not this one) was my third car, I got it about a week after I graduated high school in 93. If I may make a suggestion : Either be prepared to upgrade the brakes to a dual reservoir master cylinder (relatively inexpensive and a MAJOR safety upgrade), Or look for a '67 Falcon, Which is nearly identical in shape and look but came factory with the dual resevoir. The 68-70 falcon looks quite different, but 66 and 67 nearly identical.

  • nice car. gonna love this sound!

  • hey i have been looking for hooker headers i got a nice granada with a 250 i want to install hookers on. do you have part number for thse headerss. i cant seem to find any online.

  • @granadass Save yourself the trouble with headers for your 250. It'll never run right without heat from the exhaust riser. Better off to get pre-smog metering rods for your Carter 1bbl. Make sure there is NO SLOP in the linkage. It will make a world of difference. Been there.

About the only thing you can do to the exhaust is take the manifold to a machine shop and ask him to make an adapter for a 2.5" exhaust pipe. Get a stock V8 muffler from the junk yard. Lower backpressure and quiet, too.

  • Is it a single pipe from the headers and then split into two?

  • @gruntkiller24 No, Its two headers each with their own outlet. The front three cylinders into one pipe, and the last three a second.

  • @78Revolutions Ok thanks man. I have a friend that wants to put an exhaust on his 62' Falcon and he really likes this vid

  • Nice, Car looks in good shape and sounds great for a little 6, also props for keeping in original. I think these only have like 120HP, dos it move good?

  • @640101vh Thank you. No, its pretty slow. Slower than my previous 200ci falcon. But its OK by me. I dont race, i just drive it. its on factory 4 lug rims etc, so the small engine does me just fine.

  • Dude, that sounds amazing!! I'm choked though, because a few years ago, I installed those hookers on my Maverick with a 250, and my local exhaust shop said I should run a Y-pipe to make it single exhaust because dual exhaust would sound bad (they actually said it would sound like a tractor). After hearing your car, I can tell that they were grossly wrong on that assumption. Mine does sound good, and I do have a Flowmaster 40 series like yours. The truth just hurts a little. Keep rockin the six!

  • @Tas505 Thanks for the comment. I was VERY apprehansive about this project, as I really dont mind a quiet factory exhaust. But I had scored the headers cheap many years earlier, and said I would wait toput them on until theexhaust went bad on its own. Eventually, the manifold gasket got a bad leak and I said "why not'. At first, I fel;t it was too loud. but I roll is slow, and it really isnt bad if you dont stomp it. Low rumble. nice. Thanks again.

  • do you have cat's? ...or is it just headers & 40's?

    Sounds great! ...thanks for sharing!

  • @ItsCreated No cats.....headers to 40's. Thanks!

  • where do u get a split headers for the inline 6, im getting a f-100 with an inline 6 and i want it to sound something like that

  • @bronco302EFI clifford performance or hooker

  • American car companies fucked up big time when the refused to develop the performance potential of their in-line 6 engines -- relegating them economy and utility applications. In-line sixes are naturally balanced. They can be made to run smooth, and produce ass-loads of low end torque.

  • @MrSloika but our v8's are just so awesome..

  • That sounds mean as hell for a 200. More reasons to stuff one in my Torino. They can be made to sound this awesome who needs a V8 anyway? I want an AOD behind it so it'll have to be 78-83 or a 250cid version. But that split header sound with the 40's is absolutely sick and I love it.

  • @occupant272 Well thanks very much! Theres nothing like a V8, but It isnt a deal breaker for me. I like 6's just fine, and such a breeze to work on. But it is nice to tinker and produce a nice tone like this. I love the 'whatdya got in it?" comments, and I just say "you wouldnt believe me". haha. Thanks again, and good luck with your project.

  • Mine is not a 63 / 64 wagon ( sweeties ) , just a 66 Ambassador 4 doors with a 232 and babies seats on rear :P

Have to read more to find what your mufflers are . It seems just straight till mufler ( Glass or * Flow .. )

Nice to see your answer , thx .

  • @nalinux I like the 66 too. The stacked headlights looked good. Doesnt quite have the visual punch of the earlier wagons, but overall I still like it. I used to have every detail of the exhaust posted, but the account was suspended and I dont have the info written down, so I have to go measure everything and get part numbers again...

  • Nice sound .... Is there an X pipe like in V8 or 2 distincts lines ? Couldn t see ... this give me ideas for my Rambler :P

  • @nalinux Its two distinc pipes, no crossovers, H , or X pipe. Thanks for the kind words, and I love ramblers..especially the wagons. Good luck!

  • love the tail lights just like the thunder birds :)

  • thought it was a v8 in there great work ;)

  • @sabordobruin1 Thank you. I appreciate that very much.

  • where can you find those split hooker headers for the old straight 6? right on the holley wed site or another parts co? any idea where to find exterior trim pieces or an inside door arm rest? thanks great inspiration

  • @furrytailsandfriends Hey dude. I got your first message, Ive been meaning to reply. Im gonna answer all your questions when I get a chance to sit down and do it. I may even have an armrest for ya :)

  • sweet dude, sorry to be such a pest, seeing you ride gets me pumped about working on mine. thanks bro ryan

  • @furrytailsandfriends Sorry I havent gotten to you yet Ryan. Ill make a note to myself right now to get you the answers you e-mailed me....

  • thanks falcon bro.

  • best 6 ive heard it sounds like a v8

  • Did you convert to HEI? That fired QUICKLY.

  • @RonnieThadler Its got electronic Ignition. It wasnt a performance thing, Just saves me from having to replace or gap points. Its been awhile since I did it and cant even remember the brand name anymore. I also did my 62 falcon.

  • did changing this reduce you gas milage

  • No idea really. I never checked its mileage before or after. Since the car was hard to full-fill (old cars tend to vomit the gas out when pumped from modern pumps), I rarely did full fills and therefore have never checked its MPG's.

  • I wouldnt worry too much about how fast the car was. Its just great to see and hear a little Falcon like yours runnin' around. Nothing like owning a true Classic!!

  • @violents41 Thanks :)

  • Thats the best sounding little six cylinder that I've ever heard!!

  • @violents41 Thank you very much. It gets alot of compliments, yet oddly enough I may be the one person who doesnt like it. I cant tell...Its like, It sounds great.....but with nothing to back it up, I feel like every honda with a big muffler that I make fun of! Same difference. Thanks for the comment...I have a vid of it driving too if interested, see my account or sidebar.

  • I want my 300 to sound like this. Can it be done?

  • Imi sure it can be. Check clifford performance for all the I6 info you need.

  • What series of flows are you running on this? Im about to rebuild a 66 inline 6 mustang and just wondering.

  • I keep forgetting to get that info from the mufflers. I wrote it down when I was under the car a couple months ago, and lost the paper.

  • God damn, that little 6 sounds better than my 302! I need to get me some headers!

  • wow... just sounds amazing!!!!

  • my first car was a 1967 sports coupe futura with a 200 st six. I miss that car so much. 3 webber carbs, true duals, and a rv cam, all from cliffords. do your homework and ck it out. it is so cool when you pop your hood and people can't believe that it's only a 200 st 6. Ok I need to shut up.

  • Sorry, not to step on your toes Mr78rev. To MrJose0302, you need to get in contact with cliffords performance and get a split header from them and get yourself some 40 series flowmaster dual chambers and run 2 1/4. now to save some money you can get master flow mufflers since flowmaster lost ther PATENT they are the same thing but thicker metal. One other thing, cliffords can make your intake to fit 3 carbs. WHEN YOU PULL UP TO A CAR SHOW WITH THIS SOUND, THEY THINK WHAT V8 IS UNDER THAT HOOD.

  • wow i was in such disbelief. i got a 65 ranchero with a 200. got headers and dual out cherries. that sounds like a V8. so awesome

  • Everything else all stock? Sixes sound so good with split exhaust... Was the number 4 pipe kinked like that out of the box? Or is that just the angle of the camera? I'm building a 200 for my '62 Falcon. I had an awesome 300 ("big block" six) in a '65 Galaxie... Sixes are so sweet, good balance of muscle sound and economy!

  • Not sure which kink you mean, but the headers are split, so you may be seeing where the two headers join together. The rest of the drivetrain is bone stock, and the majority of the car is 'stock appearing', maybe not original seats, but a simple stock-appearing look. Nothing custom or extravagant, thought almost none of the original anything is still present. All redone, redyed, repainted, reupholstered etc. thx for the comment!

  • At about 1:13 right under the aircleaner it looks like the primary was bent, it may be where the pipes join and just a shadow. Good stuff. Still love the sound.

  • Yeah, Its a deceptive angle. What you re seeing is the joining point between the two headersThe seal isnt perfect, leaves a little black soot around the seam....that gives the appearance of shadow and a 'dent' in the vid, but they arent. Thanks for the comments!

  • Out of curiosity, how hard is it to install heads? Also, did you take the engine out when you added the heads?

  • I didnt change the heads, just the headers....and now, I didnt pull the motor to do so.

  • Sorry. For some reason I wrote headers as heads. My mistake.

  • No problem. forgot to answer your question 'how hard is it to do?'. Depends if you are car savvy or not. The initial install I found very hard, because removing the original manifold bolts all wanted to break off. So it was a long slow process to drill and tap all the broken ones out. A nightmare really. But now that they are in, I can unhook them and remove them very quickly. But that first time is a real doozy!

  • tough

  • were did you get those headers, and how much were they?

  • it was a long time ago, but I bought them on ebay....out of the box, but never used. Since they were used, the price is irrelevant to what they are worth new, 10 years later! I think I paid $160. They are Hooker brand and should be easily found.

  • Was your Falcon an automatic or a standard shift (3 on the tree)?

  • Automatic, C4.

  • i hvae a 69 nova inline 6 nad can you tell me wat exhaust system n headers you put on n the things you added on the engine.

    please!!!

  • Hooker headers with flowmasters. I dont have any measurements or part numbers, such as what mufflers etc just yet. I had that info on my old account, which was shut down, and now I have to go write it all down again.

  • That sounded so much like a v8 I had to see you open the hood to prove it was a six. I thought it would sound drony.

  • Thank you. I was surprised by how it came out too.

  • Sounds great! i have a 66 stang with the same engine and am considering this exhaust setup. you should make a driveby video.

  • Of that size or inches it is necessary to to be the pipe of the leak and that I need type of mufflers?

  • I lost all the info when my other acount was shut down. I dont know exact measurements or part numbers. All IN know is Hooker HEaders and Flowmaster mufflers. Part numbers and measurments will have to wait til I get the car out in the spring. Sorry.

  • hey man, she sounds wonderful. come check out my exhaust vid = }

  • inch size, or that should be the exhaust pipe and what kind of mufflers need?

  • de que tamaño o pulgadas debe ser el tubo del escape y que tipo de silenciadores necesito?

  • friend settle this exhaust my ford cougar. and buy the header, I just need to know how many inches is the tube will be q q place of mufflers or bottles need. I appreciate your prompt response. greetings.

  • Im sorry, but I really dont understand your question. I think something was lost in your english. Perhaps you know someone more fluent in english that can help you type out the question for me. Id be glad to help if I knew the question!

  • Best sounding 200 inline six i've ever heard!

  • Thank you much. That means alot to me.

  • call me a friend not envious but my ford cougar ford 200 engine has a six in line this week and will be installing the same system with your car exhaust header. Your car sounds beautiful. This tremendous. God bless you ..

  • Glad you enjoyed the video, and good luck on getting your car done as well!! I hope you get the sound you want!

  • thats a nice car dude. very nicely done.

  • Thank you very much. Very kind.
