If US sales are indeed greater than JP sales, then Nintendo has no excuse not to localize Zangeki no Reginlev. I'm sure there are plenty of hack n' slash fans in the US who would enjoy that game. Also, like Shokio said, release a limited number of copies if you know your game is not going to have mass appeal. That's what Atlus does with most (if not all) of their games, and they're still in business.
What you forget Shokio, is that America's population dwarfs Japan's population. of course there are going to be more sales in America compared to japan, compare the ratio of sales to the wii owners in those regions, then you will see it sold more in Japan

nintendo is probably scared about localizing these games. remember in '95 when they brought out earthbound. but people are petitioning and begging for these games. thousands of people begged for earthbounds sequel but they said no also.
@Shokio I have over 241 wii games on my wii (that includes wiiware) and trust me when i say this, about maybe 50 are actually playable or worth playing. Um yeah its bad. Shovelware really dominated that system.

Games the director of Last Story has been involved in: Final Fantasy 1-11(and some spin-offs), Front Mission 1-3, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve 1-2, Legend of Mana and Kingdom Hearts. Oh and to Wiilover07 saying "HOW DO U KNOW LAST STORY WILL BE GOOD???" The guy was also involved in CHRONE TRIGGER and SUPER MARIO RPG: LEGEND OF THE SEVEN STARS. I'm sure you liked those games, Wiilover. So I think we can say Last Story will be good.
While watching your video i got the hunch that Nintendo might be keeping these games for a Wii U launh release. It would make more sales as it launch title, plus it would give them a better launch line-up since their previous ones have been disastrous. I love Nintendo but as of now...they are not really caring for their passionate consumers. It's sad..

Speaking as somebody from Ireland, We have been confirmed of all three of those games including DQ10, ANIMA, and more! for both 2011 and 2012. And even I am struggling to realise why Ninty are not bringing these games to Usa? And Im a Ninty fanboy! Why can't these games get released in America then? I emailed Nintendo expecting to get no reply at all. I was surprised to find they got back to me. What i REALLY didn't see coming is that they didn't bullshit me. "I realize this is disappointing, but your comments have been documented and made available for other departments here to use as they see fit. We appreciate hearing what our consumers find important." This shows that its the execs that are blocking the release. Don't blame ALL of Nintendo, guys.
I can kinda see the reasoning why they arn't being released in NA but at the same time there are many games that sold more in America than japan or anywhere else and localizing them doesn't seem to be a problem since they already did that. But maybe we will get them in 2012, who knows? all I know is that I really want them.
For one, you have to realize Japan has less of a population than America. So the sells alone wont tell you much. If you turn them into fractions, sales being on top, and full population on bottom and compare, then you will get an accurate number. But comparing the numbers alone, Japan will always have significantly less because they have less people there.
I think they're going to localize them, but they are trying to keep quiet about it. The more people that begin to petition and beg, the more they'll be happy when it does happen.

The problem is no longer a business model in terms of sales. They would sell well here, but I think Nintendo's reputation is at stake here. The Wii U is being targeted to "core" fans, but Nintendo is ignoring the West (North America in this case). And by core, they mean more western games. Out of all the regions, western games are selling more in NA. In short, NA is a key region for the Wii U's success, but ignoring them like this wil be fatal for them, resulting in 3rd parties alienating again.
I feel like NoA should bring those three games to America. Yes there was Lost in Shadow and Conduit 2 which was out earlier this year (both really good games), but seeing that there isn't anything else coming to the Wii worth getting besides Zelda and Kirby later this year is just wrong. Granted Zelda and Kirby will be awesome; its just not enough. Those three games along with Zelda and Kirby will keep us company until the Wii U is out. What NoA is stupid and is worring others about the Wii U.
I like to think that they're using Operation Rainfall as a way of getting the games known. Before it started, I only knew of the names, nothing else, but now, I now a lot about each game, and would like to play them. I'm sure its been like this for others.
Yeah, I hate it when Japanese developers make great games and never localize them. Especially when Japan is a lot smaller than America. Localizing is a lot of work (humor doesn't translate well, lip syncing, translating in general) but they should realize it's very well worth it since America WILL buy it. Like Monster Hunter; Monster Hunter Tri is the BEST Wii game out there right now and yet the next Monster Hunter title out in Japan has yet to be announced for America.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom has a competitive streak in the U.S. But Last Story etc. MUST be advertised if it wants to sell here. TvsC is a versus game first which is why is sold so well - The Marvel vs Capcom series sold better over here as well which helped TvsC sell seeing as how we haven't gotten a new Tag Team Versus game in like 10 years back then. But I think those three games will sell well mainly because of "word of mouth".
There's only one flaw with your argument Shokio. American currencies are worth A LOT less than most other countries. Total copies sold does not equal amount of revenue brought in.

Speaking as somebody from Ireland, We have been confirmed of all three of those games including DQ10, ANIMA, and more! for both 2011 and 2012. And even I am struggling to realise why Ninty are not bringing these games to Usa? And Im a Ninty fanboy! @TriforceLightning You want to know something VERY interesting. Metroid Prime 3, in Japan, sold like shit. Only 71,239 people there bought MP3. Yet it was still released there. Why can't these games get released in America then? I know more than 71,239 people in America will buy Last Story(A game made by the creator of FF) THAT FACT ALONE will make people want to buy the game. Maybe Xenoblade and Pandora's Tower won't sell that well, but Nintendo could advertise those games.

USA is huge compared to japan, and Japan has some really poor regions as for USA even if you're low class you probably still get game counsels and games. in Japan if your poor you have shit and thats about it! get you're comparisons to ratio. i love xbox but Nintendo is doing great! Nintendo didnt loose as much money as playstaion and xbox yes they do need games for wii here in America and maybe they are being a little lazy but they are still doing better then xbox(i love xbox) and playstation!

I emailed Nintendo expecting to get no reply at all. I was surprised to find they got back to me. What i REALLY didn't see coming is that they didn't bullshit me. "I realize this is disappointing, but your comments have been documented and made available for other departments here to use as they see fit. We appreciate hearing what our consumers find important." This shows that its the execs that are blocking the release. Don't blame ALL of Nintendo, guys.

I can kinda see the reasoning why they arn't being released in NA but at the same time there are many games that sold more in America than japan or anywhere else and localizing them doesn't seem to be a problem since they already did that. But maybe we will get them in 2012, who knows? all I know is that I really want them.

For one, you have to realize Japan has less of a population than America. So the sells alone wont tell you much. If you turn them into fractions, sales being on top, and full population on bottom and compare, then you will get an accurate number. But comparing the numbers alone, Japan will always have significantly less because they have less people there.

The problem is no longer a business model in terms of sales. They would sell well here, but I think Nintendo's reputation is at stake here. The Wii U is being targeted to "core" fans, but Nintendo is ignoring the West (North America in this case). And by core, they mean more western games. Out of all the regions, western games are selling more in NA. In short, NA is a key region for the Wii U's success, but ignoring them like this wil be fatal for them, resulting in 3rd parties alienating again.

I feel like NoA should bring those three games to America. Yes there was Lost in Shadow and Conduit 2 which was out earlier this year (both really good games), but seeing that there isn't anything else coming to the Wii worth getting besides Zelda and Kirby later this year is just wrong. Granted Zelda and Kirby will be awesome; its just not enough. Those three games along with Zelda and Kirby will keep us company until the Wii U is out. What NoA is stupid and is worring others about the Wii U.

Yeah, I hate it when Japanese developers make great games and never localize them. Especially when Japan is a lot smaller than America. Localizing is a lot of work (humor doesn't translate well, lip syncing, translating in general) but they should realize it's very well worth it since America WILL buy it. Like Monster Hunter; Monster Hunter Tri is the BEST Wii game out there right now and yet the next Monster Hunter title out in Japan has yet to be announced for America.

those numbers for okami are depressing..i had it on ps2 and loved it..for it to sell so few on wii as well is such a shame..no wonder we hardly see games like that anymore..as for these numbers, nintendos main market was grannies and kids..it did surprise me that a console that has sold 80million plus for some of its best, most niche titles to have sold so few..most not even breaking the million barrier..i suppose it shouldn't surprise at all really

First of all, the games Blackb0nd listed aren't RPGs. Secondly, go look up NPD data or VGcharts on any console JRPG this gen and look at the FIRST WEEK SALES. There's your answer.
The only exception here is Demon Souls but hey, just because I can see the benefits of risks doesn't these stupid publishers can't. I'm not trying to be negative, just showing you two sides of the fence.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom has a competitive streak in the U.S. But Last Story etc. MUST be advertised if it wants to sell here. TvsC is a versus game first which is why is sold so well - The Marvel vs Capcom series sold better over here as well which helped TvsC sell seeing as how we haven't gotten a new Tag Team Versus game in like 10 years back then. But I think those three games will sell well mainly because of "word of mouth".

What gets me though is that people say it's a business decision, because they have to put money into translating the games in order to localize them. What people don't realize is that these games are actually being translated into English even as we speak for Europe. Basically what that means is Nintendo has already paid to get them translated, and all they would have to do is ship them to America. But they aren't. There's no excuse, NOA is being lazy.
