This use MPX, a new Xorg feature. So Ubuntu 9.10 will come with this. You can use it with anything. Three mouses, two touchscreens devices, what you want.
I use ubuntu linux a lot, and i have a simple question i would like to ask..
I saw the guys drawing, and at one point during the multiuser paint demonstration when the person on the right was drawing a face, it seemed like a blue line just JUMPED across the screen like the 2nd user had put his finger down and it connected a line between the two points, how are they handling the two different inputs so the computer doesnt get confused and do like it did in that example?
the technology used in this demo ( MERL diamondtouch) is not like other multitouch surface.
you have to be in contact with an antenna to interact with the table, thus, each user has a different antena and the DiamondTouch know who point at a place.
The weaknessof this feature is that, when users touch each other, the table is confused and it's what happen in the example. (the two electric field are combined).
does anyone know what is the painting application used in video? I was looking for something this simple to use as a simple whiteboard.... thanks for any tips
this guy probably did this at home on his home PC using a wacom and projector... not some 50,000 dollar big ass table. oh and look... he's using it for stuff other than paying big ass corporations...
The DiamondTouch is open source? You mean the firmware or drivers? MPX should be able to work just fine on any multi-touch device as long as there are drivers for it so it can work with X as an input device.
interesting.
But I don't know the song name, can anyone tell me the song name?

This was made for free. No money used to make the software. Of course it won't be as advanced as Microsoft Surface, you fool.

Microsoft Surface is not something Microsoft made, it is licenced from Perceptive Pixel. Apple also licences the same Perceptive Pixel technology.

projection? this isnt as cool as perceptive pixel's multitouch device, but at least this is open source.
