@pagalley1 That is just so lame. He is a CELEBRITY who also has a degree in Psychiatry. A celebrity first, doctor second. Get it? He is really good at maintaining his image: the hair, the voice, the focus, the glasses, the personal attire and grooming. It is all designed to maintain his image so that you think he is the greatest doctor the planet. How many doctors do you know who go to the Grammy Awards? He is just a celebrity w/an opinion. You've been fooled just like all the Dr. Oz followers.

@eqsmooth Dr. Drew is a doctor who is a celebrity, not a celebrity who is a doctor, just like Dr. Oz....He is good at maintaining his image as a doctor and a celebrity...That's very commendable...Dr. Drew has helped many people via his radio and tv shows, one such being, "Celebrity Rehab"...Not all doctors need to be in private practice and/or in hospitals...Doctors have become a part of the media landscape...Look at Sanjay Gupta from CNN...He still practices at a hospital but does CNN as well.

I wouldn't go that far. He is in between. He was a med student when he first started making regular appearances on a radio show, but he has a career outside of media stuff. According to wikipedia, he also teaches at USC's med school, and works in a hospital. And he's double board certified in IM and addiction medicine (not psychiatry BTW).
Ian K. Smith is a good example of a celebrity who is a doctor.

I rest my case after conceding he is not a shrink. I was convinced he was. Ya can't trust a guy who says that. It goes against his Hippocratic oath, if only slightly so.
