thank for a great video, not sure i would be brave enough to take my RANS V3 out on ice mind, might feel a bit more confident when i have time on it. :) dont often get to much ice in West Wales thankfully.Regards Rob, looking forward to some more vidz
hello fella. me and my father are making a recumbent as we speak. not to disimalar to your model. i have back trouble and cannot ride a normal back without server discomfort.will the recumbent help do you think..regards. jb
Best biking videos on the web! I want more! Love the recumbent ... Waiting for temps to fall to start riding my ICE Trice recumbent - temps have been hovering around 100 C for seems like a couple months now. The coldin this video looks pretty good!
I just acquired a Bacchetta Corsa, my first bent. I'm loving it for so many reasons. This video makes me want to go out and get a ride in now...and I'm of Scottish decent.
i came across your vids there great. in this one do i recognise the area, as Friockheim, then out towards Kinnell? i lived in Carmyllie for a wee while.
Nice footage, nice bike too. I ride a Performer high racer (26/26) and I have a marine strobe light fitted to the top of my helmet for low light and night riding, works a treat. Everyone stares at a bent anyhow, but with a light on your head; some applaud while others turn away in disgust !
Bents rule .. ! I've been riding a semi - bent , a CCM Evox for 5 years now , tried an upwrong a while back and hated it .. ! Eaach their own of course ..
This was just a very short run to try out making a video. It was 2 trips, the daylight one was bout 7 miles if I recall and the night time on was about 4. Clothing wise I highly recommend thermal underwear, and a skiiing jacket, which seems to work well with the recumbent posture.
i deffo need some advice, i really am considering buying a recumbent, but are they pants uphill, because that's what i've heard. I want a fast bike that is comfortable can go long distances and is GOOD UPHILL! Thanks for your advice
Well that all depends on your definition of "pants". Generally they are a bit slower uphill than an upright, generally the speed boost on the flats and descents more than balances it out though. It is mostly down to rider conditioning. Anyone who tells you recumbents can't climb after riding them once doesn't know what they are talking about, you need to be riding for at least 6 months before you have decent power.
The P-38 Lightning is supposedly the best hill climbing recumbent available.
After owning three bents. My 2 fav uphill climbers are the Tour Easy and Voloe Club. Rode out with the local CTC A riders for my first time and was first up a 1/2 mile 1in3 on the Tour Easy, now if doesn't suggest that bents do not climb then I give up! Though saying that My optima lynx let me down on hills with a lot less gradient!!! All the best with the transistion, happy laid back riding ;]
Nice Ride on a cold winters day and lovely & quiet on the roads too :)! Can I ask where you strap the camcorder on the bike and what tack do you use? Cheers and happy riding
Nah, I just make sure I get the bike ready quickly. I try to minimise the time I'm outside and not exerting myself. Oh and I wear a really good jacket. I think drink driving laws apply to bikes too ;) lol
Abrasive? That was easily #600 grit wet or dry. In other words, quite smooth. I know how much time and energy goes into these self-produced videos, but do keep up the good work!
The software I used converted it to WMV which is a lot less spendy on the memory than the default for my camera which is AVI. I think the video was only about 30mb.
You're the first I've seen to tell what sort of editing software they've used. I like the 2008 Abrasive Scotsmans Productions in the credits. Hopefully your first of many!
Nice job! It's good to see someone taking the time to plan and edit video in order to make it more interesting. The music is very cool too. I might shorten the video up just a bit but that's just my 2 cents, so take no offense. Is that ice on the ground or is the camera just playing tricks on me?
Yup, quite a bit of frost around. It was hanging around freezing all day. Some of the scenes are little longer than I'd like myself. Considering this is the first time I've ever tried editing, I'm pretty happy with the results though. I only unwrapped the software yesterday ;)
Very nice video... so relaxing! Thank you!

After a chilly ride like that, a drop or two of a decently mellow whiskey would be perfect! Nice video.

This is my favourite recumbent video on YouTube - it has an appropriately laid back mood to it, complimented by the music.

I am just curious, what is the length of the trip? What type of clothing would you recommend to be able to handle the cold weather? Thanks

Looks bone chilling damp in Scotland, do any funky chickens on the icy pavement, mix in any single malt before the ride?

Is this Mike Oldfield?
Got the same bike you have, it rides fabulous
quick, swiftly, easy to handle and steer.

How do you get such a long Vid down to 100 MB?
I have a cross-country Hangliding video I made that is 8 minutes duration and 1.5 Gig, is that too big to compress?
Thanks, Max.
