We dont get lighting or thunder in Ireland so for me this is Yayyyy!!!! Love the frame at 36/37 The cloud is so heavy & made of the deepest black & yet it births something of such intensity, power & a mirror of its-self! Brilliant Tnk You!!
I love thunderstorms, and since I moved to California we never get them where I am.I used to live in Minnesota, where the ground shakes from the thunder and the lightning is blinding.Thank you for leaving the sound and not putting it to music.I did used to have a cd of thunder and rain that I used to calm down after work and it often put me to sleep,so I agree with tylercj. Beautiful photography.
you need not be concerned about any bad comments on this bunch of photos. they turned out to be some of the best i've seen so far and you can be very proud of what you've captured so far. good luck in the future and be safe in those storms. thanks so much for sharing.
Remember, these are stills from my D-SLR. My camcorder that I shot Kansas Thunderstorms and Kansas Thunderstorms 2 is a Sony HDR-HC3. I'm pretty sure they've had three models out since I got it. It uses mini-DV tapes which have their pluses and minuses. I'll let you do that research.
:) The thunder is a clip from my video titled "Kansas Thunderstorms", a minute or so in. The clap was so loud it felt like someone slapped me in the chest! I was kind of nervous after that one!
I have a Canon Rebel XTi. It's a 10.1Mp. The lens that comes with the camera isn't fantastic, but does pretty well if you're just starting out. This is my first DSLR and have met a dozen people randomly that have the same camera. It's quite popular. I've bought a second lens that has more zoom (18-55 default lens, 28-135 new lens) and has image stabilzation. I.S. doesn't seem to make much of a difference at that low of a zoom...you can do more research online before you invest.
One note about cameras, once you buy a particular brand, you're stuck with getting lenses for that brand. If you decide to get a nikon or another brand several years down the road, the Canon lenses will probably not work with it.
TYSVM, Spe672, for your nice reply.... and since I'm such an avid Tstorm-audio/video TAPER-er...how I do envy some of yous who really do get such monstrous Tstorms you get in KS. Here in southern RI... my BEST Tstorm video was way back on 7/28/89... wish I could get it onto YouTube, you'd love it...
This nice video is quite unique and cool... nice audiotaping of the hi-fi thunder((love that huge clap at the start)), then rumbles and nice pelting rain, and also some real awesome kaliedoscope still pixes of colorful CGs everywhere... nice job, mannnn !!! ((my own 7/28/89 video got lotsa videoed-CGs huge thunderclaps))
Thanks! I've filmed many storms, but few of them are as powerful as the ones I've put on here; that's how I ended up with so much soft pitter-patter rain. The clap you hear felt like a sonic boom smacking me in the chest...it was kind of unnerving! It was originally filmed on 6-10-2007 and placed on youtube as "Kansas Thunderstorms".
Probably the best thing about living in Kansas is how scared people from other states/countries get in thunderstorms that are nothing to us.
