  • why was this finally caused?

  • Chuck Norris could pick the plane up and place it on the runway, or throw it like a paper plane to the destination........

  • what a great opportunity to show off and use the thrust reversers... lol I'm sure thats not allowed though

  • the legend says that they are still pushing the plane...

  • the tug is still connected to the plane, and the 2 guys are trying to push it... and the plane

what do they weigh, 60 tons?

  • Ahh...Next time get all the ground equipment away from the engines. Start engines, Hit reversers lightly, Hit gas on jet tug, watch plane move.....Boneheads......!!!!

  • @L1011DFW Even just light on the reversers, you still run the risk of FOD injection.

Not to say your idea was bad, just unsafe.

  • huh. for some reason we don't have that problem in PHX

  • @moorepower90 ya because there is no snow in phx

  • They should just grab a couple chains and toss it under the wheels!

Even if it is not tire chains, any chain will help the tire get traction for a couple feet.

When is spits out the back side of the tire just toss it under again.

Some times moving a few feet is enough to get you unstuck!

I'm from the far north with long winters, this trick works.

  • like if 2 guys pushing on a 10 tons tug attached to a 40 tons A/C is going to make the difference...

  • The tractor is too small for this job in these conditions....lol.. but good effort. I once had a similar experience pushing back a B757-200 with a full size large pushback tractor. I had the wheels spinning and sliding from side to side, eventually getting the plane off the gate. I would have loved to see footage of that ;).... at least these rampees look like they're having a good time.

  • this is hilarious. at 0:47 you see the wheel spinning its ass off, and the tug going nowhere lol.

  • Should have helped them with the reverse thrust. :')

  • what are you flying, like a crj200?

  • Get your ass out of the cockpit and help push

  • @misterbarbister thats a great idea, leave a running aircraft unattended. genius,... you must know a lot about aviation.

  • @Jimbobalimbo Since when does it take both pilots to monitor a pushback? And don't give me that attitude, just cuz your mommy n daddy paid for you to be a glorified bus driver doesn't make you better than anyone else here. My first job out of highschool was as a rampy, which I used to pay for my commercial fixed wing license as well as helicopter conversion with very little help, so I know enough about aviation thanks. Airlines pilots are awfully arrogant for doing such an easy job. Haha...

  • i work on the ramp up in canada and i see this quite a bit in winter when using some of the lighter pushback tractors. Amazingly, a scoop of gravel under each tire works to get it rolling 99% of the time. if not, ram the push from behind with a tug tractor and that will definetely do it.

  • thtas happened to me once or twice, either that or the de icer breaks down

  • no thrust reverser?

  • @MrHaahz Some Airport don't permit that for any reason at the gate. DEN is one.

  • MSP gets more snow than CVG so i wouldnt be talking. We Minnesotans know how to deal with snow at the airport.

  • I was waiting to hear the FO say "Oh look, I forgot to release the parking brake". I believe the amount of laughter would have killed me.

  • what airline, and aircraft also what airport?

  • "Airline not responsible"

  • haha 2 guys pushing the pushback with the weight of the aircraft infront of that! that should be Ivan Durago and Arnold Schwarzenegger's job.

  • I remember when I was on a 763 @ JFK headed for FCO<--(Rome) and the tug got stuck...you could tell something was wrong when you heard revving, felt a little jolt, and then it got quiet again...ended up having to get a tug with snow chains...

  • whoops. sorry guys. parking brake was on

  • i've seen dc9's powerback with reverse thrust. can crj's do the same?

  • @LiLTMac123 theoretically all aircraft fitted with the reversers can push themselves back, but it is usually forbidden on under-wing engines to prevent damage by stuff picked up with the reverse flow to be sucked into the engines and round and round they go. short answer, yes

  • @jfsa380 no its forbidden because engines can't blast towards the terminal side from that distance

  • @Doa744 but it must not have been forbidden when the DC-9's were doing it, so i was assuming the other craft were in the same place.

  • @jfsa380 their are always special occasions and the DC9 engines are mounted in a slight vertical position

  • God damn it, I hate when this happens to me every time I park my plane.

  • help them with REVERSE

  • omg hahaha < three dickheads are trying to PUSH an airplane. ROTFL

  • Haha "Yeah Bob, lets push on it, maybe we can push the tractor and the giant plane!"

  • i love how the fact he trys to push the truck out when it is still attatched to the plane. SUPERSTRONG GUY

  • cvg is awsome i got videos of dc-8 and a 727 and a a300

  • THATS SO DUMB TRYING TO PUSH THE TUG FROWARD HELLO THE PLANE IS IN THE WAY AND WEIGHS ALOT

  • And in the end "Oh sorry guys we left the brakes on. My bad" xD

  • lmao

  • that sucks but it's funny the same time

  • After the end of this videos the pilot said: F*CK THIS! Turn on the engines! We are going to use the reverse thurst!

  • Jeez, just give it up and use the reverse thrusters to back up.

  • @hackel137 Can you make the payment on this plane? Umm no. Does it fit in your garage? Umm no. So Stick to your minivan that fits in your mini garage.

  • @videophoto2000 what type of plane do you fly

  • @videophoto2000 I want a garage

  • @hackel137 i never had a push back stuck in my 5 year of experiance and i never stop working in the snow or ice ... i just dont film in the snow or ice cause it way to dangerous in ymx or yul

  • @hackel137 WTF rot in a hole

  • another problem is some airports do not allow panes to use reverse thrust around the gates

  • if those guys keep pushing they may have to make by hand all the push back procedure!

  • ... maybe releasing the parking braks would help :)

  • @dannycooper82 It was...

  • ... maybe releasing the parking braks would help :)

  • LOL

  • hilarious! 'Safety" is nicely demonstrated there! lol

  • @assanoe.....with a CRJ the diverted air from reverse thrust is sent out at a 45 degree angle and more likely to FOD the engines at low speed and almost 100 percent likely stationary like this. Using reverse thrust over idle at the gate area like this could cause quite a bit of damage

  • is this filmed from the cockpit?

  • @ToInfinity1 Yes... Just incase they damaged anything I had proof it wasn't my fault.

  • @videophoto2000 lol pilots are smart :)

  • @videophoto2000 so you were the pilot? Captain?

  • @videophoto2000 Cover your ass. I love how the Lead and another agent thought "This 20,000LB pushback isnt moving this plane. Lets push the pushback, our additional 300Lbs will do it!"

  • @videophoto2000

    You're a clever man :)

  • @videophoto2000 I do feel sorry for them....damn snow

  • @ToInfinity1 Did you ask a question by typing it out and posting it?

  • @dXMETRIXb why did you ask such an obvious question?

  • Where is this? That's a ridiculous amount of snow!

  • @ednuttah CVG

  • @ednuttah EIA (Edmonton International) was dumped on for 2 weeks. I was on ground ops then. It was terrible. That's not a lot of snow.

  • looks like the clowns at SLC.... I hate flying out of there during the winter.... their ground crews always make you late.

  • Get another tug and hook a strap to the towbar.

  • Its all fun and games til the nose wheel breaks lol jk

  • We used the same exact model tug. HAVE to have chains on that thing or this will happen even with our much lighter SAAB-340s on a good sheet of black ice. Not to mention they love to over heat even when it's -20 below zero lol. Great video!

  • use reverse by jet engine.

  • @choppergage uses to much fuel.

  • @choppergage It's against Regs to use Reverse thrust on the ground other then for slowing the landing roll.

Although that doesnt' stop the Turbo prop pilots from backing their planes up with them as long as the tower cant see hehehehe....

  • lol

  • hahhaaa...

  • lol, thats messed up

  • i LOLLED at the guy behind the steering wheel who tried to ''push'' aswel xD

  • how jacknifes happen.

...but pushing the tractor would help.

    silly rampies.

  • thats when u still a tug from a different gate

  • the three stooges here

  • Because they can't break the tug free...?

  • get another tug...

  • airbus a320 is that right?

  • i thought they were dicking around

  • Rofl haha even superman wouldnt be able to unstuck that car????? or car + tons or PLane haha literaly

  • Ever heard of sand? Worked well at JFK, when the rig couldn't budge the airplane. One thing though, Why the hell are these guys trying to push the rig?? That small rig is about 10,000 lbs at least, plus the aircraft connected to it. I think they must have been in the cold for too long.

  • If a plane does not have its brakes on (like now) and the rig does not have its brakes on (Like now) it is quite possible to nudge the plane with a bit (actualy quite alot) of effort. Some people pull 747's with their teeth!

  • @Heya4000 Ok, so you're saying that they could have pushed that airplane and the rig??? Do you mean to tell me that you can push something much much smaller and lighter, like a bus full of people? LOL Go ahead and try it man.

  • All I am saying is that people HAVE pulled planes larger and heavier, so it is possible.

  • @Heya4000 yes, possible for people with freakish strength. I don't think it is possible for ramp agents like these guys.

  • @Heya4000 you couldn't get a cessna 150 to start rolling with your teeth.

  • Man that thing is stuck... those tractors are some torquey sons of bitches

  • those guys at CVG are some real clowns

  • i would like to see how YOU will be a real pro

  • You know its cold as shit when that happens, but how are two guys gonna push a tug and an aircraft, less they weren't connected yet?

  • What were they pushing anyway? ERJ? 737?

Haha...poor guys, they were really trying!

  • @musico81986 CRJ700

  • This is a 70,000 plus pound CRJ 700.

  • Been there, done that! =D Especially when we use the TBL 180

  • hehe! Imagine there would be like 40 guys pushing back the 737 or whatever type of aircraft that was... LOL that would be a funny sight! I could very well imagine something like that in africa where I used to live... I wonder how many ppl it would actually take to push back a fully loaded 737...?

  • maybe they should've just unloaded all the passengers off the plane and had them push the plane back, and then gotten back on and flown away.

  • maybe more than 40.

  • not necessarily! the strongest man in the world can pull a fully fueld 747.

  • Which video is this a man pulling a 747,

  • damn retards, Sand ffs! sand under the wheels of the pushback is the only thing that helps in that situation! they are so close to fuck up the nose wheel there!

  • And the Boeing 717

  • lol!

  • They normally dont even start the engines until after pushback

  • The only commercial aircraft I'm aware of that actually can use reverse thrust on pushback is the DC-9s with Northwest.

  • if i got stuck for more then an hour i would jump out the emergency exit but i wonder do they sue you for that

  • Improper use of an emergency exit is probably prohibited by law, which means you are not likely to get away with it.

  • well how much can you get sued for plus i bet other people will leave with me to

  • @dukee155 y would you leave when you pay for the flight.

  • no i will make more money because i wil get so much publicity from the media

  • true

  • IT was a Air Florida Flight 90

  • ON a clear sunny day, sure, but never EVER durning snow and ice used the reverses to push back from the gate. it will blow back over the wing. 323Andre22 you are right, I saw the same show. It leads to inner wing icing..

  • the pilots could use the reverses to pushback

  • I would not even consider that im not sure which Air crash investigation episode it was but because a pilot used reverse thrust in a situation like that it ended up causing a crash not even 5 minz after Takeoff

  • i really like the video and next timne you go on a flight make more ok and i wish a safe flight and everything next time you fly and one more question what flight was that and where was it going ????i am not trying to get in you business ok just wondering because i feel like i heard that voice before at the airport!!!=) please reply

  • LOL

  • i know right ths was funny

  • needs to be 4 wheel drive :D

  • i know right it. it should has wheels though to be eariser to push

  • Thats comair for you.

  • LOL! i hope the tow bar wasnt hooked up!

  • they tried push it manually, stupid.

  • Why ? - It's not connected to the plane

  • its stuck well frozen because of alll the snow

  • Bahaha!!

  • what's the big gray box with a T | on it at :55?

  • haha! as if they were trying to push the plane aswell... just imagine a few guys pushing a 737 back... lol XD

  • I love how they're looking up at the guy filming as if to say. "Come fucking help us then. We're here freezing our bollocks off and you're just filming us"

    haha

  • Comment removed

  • buhaha ...

  • reverse thrust just can be use to reverse de motor of the acft in landing and just in speed higher than 60 knots !

  • The engine is NOT reversed! Reverse thrust redirects the thrust to a certain percentage of the thrust in normal mode. What you are referring to is the landing procedure to disengage reverse thrust at 80 or 60 knots and take over with manual braking as needed.

  • Why didn't the pilot request to use reverse thrust to move the plane so the pusher could do its job?

  • the majority of aircrafts are not certified to use reverse thrust for taxing purposes

  • Also as you can see it was an icy day, using reverse thrust in these conditions could clog up an engine.

  • @jpo3456 your dumb

  • @rambothegreat18 why is that...?

  • @jpo3456 because the icy conditions do not matter and sucking up some snow will not "clog" an engine

  • @rambothegreat18 You might like to read up on the Air Florida flight 90 crash into the Potomac River, DC. One of the contributing factors to that accident was ingesting snow into the engines after trying to use reverse thrust to push back after the tug could not.

  • @riverlandman actually the NTSB report on Air Florida 90 did not list improper use of reverse thrust as a contributing factor, instead citing "the flight crew’s failure to use engine anti-ice during ground operation and takeoff, their decision to take off with snow/ice on the airfoil surfaces of the aircraft, and the captain’s failure to reject the takeoff during the early stage when his attention was called to anomalous engine instrument readings."

  • @afwxkat Actually, if you care to investigate like we did at uni to write a 3000 word essay on the human factors behind this accident, you may be interested to find that when ice was ingested into the engines, the air intake probes froze up. So on the take off roll, the instruments read a higher power setting than what was actually being generated by the engines, hence the degradation of acceleration and initial take off climb. The NTSB may not have said that, but it's a fact.

  • @jpo3456 no not really the tempurautre around the engine reaches about about 2000 degrees thats anough to melt ice if i beleive

  • Using thrust reversers to push back an aircraft with underwing engines might cause ingestion of debris into the engines and damage them, or severally limit their useable life.

Reverse thrust works by vanes in the side of the engine redirecting thrust forward instead of our the back of the engine. The same amount of air is still being sucked into the intake. So with the thrust being directed forward kicking up dust and God knows whatever else, it could easilly be injested back in the front.

  • yeah, well then can't the same be said vice-versa?

  • huh?

  • What are they trying to push? A giant ice making machine??

  • ahaahahahahahaahhhaah lets pushback the airplane all together xD

  • yeah really, that kind of pushback truck for a 74 pff joker

  • hahaha

  • heman that is 2 funny i can move a plane watch out guys let me do it

  • who shud 2 guys move a plane i don't what plane but if it's a 747 it's idiots

  • HAHA xD

  • that must have been embarrassing lol

  • Thats why it's mandatory for airports here in Alaska to have a shovel team ready at all times =)

  • "Go get Joe, his truck has 4WD!"

  • lol

    XD

  • Reverse thrust except on landing is not allowed...

  • It is for some planes that can reverse it self out from the gate like MD80

  • where u the pilot

  • @videophoto2000 false! it is allowed but only on aircraft that are FAA approved for reverse thrust push back (anything that has an engine NOT mounted on the wing) like a CRJ or a MD-80

  • @videophoto2000 Company policy takes all the fun out of it.

  • @videophoto2000 come on just this once lol

  • Reverse thrust? ever heard of the Air Florida incident with the 737...stupid pilot reversed the engines to back from the gate and crashed for the reasons on not just ice build up but snow being sucked into the engines....better alive being smart!

  • they're trying to move the pushback tug AAAAAAND the plane. someone must have made those guys think they were the descendants of samson or hercules

  • it looks like they got it near the end :D

  • Shoulda started the engines and assisted with thrust reverse.

  • damage the engines...

  • I was just saying that because I've seen it d
